Flip flop the width and depth of the Rex and Spino and they are pretty similar. One is just measured in a forward facing display while the other is intended to be a sideways display.

I know what you are saying but you are talking 10.5 inches more than the t-rex, that is too much. Mabey because of the tail but I doubt it. Also if SS made that much of a difference they are of out wack because display wise is going to look weird compared to the other dinos. Anways I'm pretty sure it's a mistake, and if it's not be sure that we will be paying a pretty penny for it.

I'm gonna wait until the details are officially annouced.

It's kinda hard to think that the Spinosaurus maquette will be particularly huge since it will definitely look weird along with the other maquettes (which are similar in size btw).

And also the price. If SS wants these to sell well, it would be a bad move to ridiculously increase the price imo....

I guess we'll just have to wait and see, but I bet those dimensions are correct. I seem to recall from the first word of there being a spino maquette that it was going to be big.

A maternal scene, without violence? Hallelujah.

There were collectors that wanted that..so I guess they get their wish..I'm pretty much fine either with it...and doesn't that fit with the sketches we saw in PT before ? The ones you pointed out showing a mother Stego with at least one juvenile ?

Haha, right.

Check it out, I found the Spino's dimensions:

15" H (381mm) x 32" W (812.8mm) x 9.5" D (241.3mm)

That is considerably bigger than the Rex maquette. :google

Rex dimensions, for reference:

11.5" H (292.1mm) x 8" W (203.2mm) x 21.5" D (546.1mm)

If this is accurate, it will be the longest SS Dinosauria piece so far, surpassing even the Camarasaurus.

The bad news: This almost certainly means the price will be higher than $200.

The dimensions are always a pain to figure..here are my thoughts :

Length..looks like the Rex maquette would be 24 1/2 " if straightened out..Spino is 32" about a 7" difference..nice but nothing to over the top..and about in scale.

Width..I bet they are counting the base..so no big problem there either.

Height..11.5 compared to 15"..works fine considering the sail height..just put 3.5" on the Rex Maquette with a rule..it works out right as well.

It's going to be a bit longer the Rex and of course taller due to the sail..but it all works out to be about right in the end..the problem will be as Agent0028 said..where the devil to display it ?

Pricing maybe slightly higher..but I still bet not by much..the Allo VS Camara piece wasn't just long...it was a Dio with three animals in it..so the price raise was justified and reasonable as well.

And Shane tells me his Spino is 37" long. Yowza.

It's pretty nice looking..but the price again is an issue..325.00 plus paint and building materials for an extra 5"...I'm just going with the Sideshow piece..even if it turns out to be 250.00 it's still a better deal I think.. :/

I am more than a little tempted to get his Mosasaur though...it's huge and well priced for the size..if only I can figure where to put to it... ;) and I'm still waiting to see 1/1 Velociraptor finished... ;D

With this and Stegosaurus hopefully coming sooner than later, I will be very happy. Outside of hot toys, these are pretty much the only figures I collect now.

Same here. Unless SS comes out with some good Marvel Osborn/Iron Patriot comiquette, I'll be sticking to basically Dinosauria and HT.

I'm thrilled with the prospect of this piece, and it truly does sound gigantic. Whether or not it works out to adequate proportions to the T.rex maquette has yet to be seen. I'm very pleased with just the paltry teaser, already more sumptuous than most if not all other teasers we've received for Dinosauria as it doesn't skimp on detail, and is situated in such a pose as to give one a good concept of what the sculpt looks like. Very immense, and while I like the size, I have reservations about the price... and the continually shrinking amount of space.

Sidebar - very glad to hear the Stego will be maternal in nature, reinforcing the attitude of dinosaurs as nurturers with altricial young. Very cool. I wonder if we'll have just the sole adult in the maquette, or a younger individual as well. Very exciting to consider the prospects here.

Admittedly, I am still holding out hope that the line will branch out from maquettes and dioramas, into something along the lines of legendary scale busts, preferably mountable as that would be an immense space saver. I'm going to keep hammering that point home as it's a fantastic opportunity to capture a lot of detail in a scale where the minutia is particularly appreciable.

I really don't think the price will so bad..and in regard to the Stego maquette the description in the article says a mother with it's young..so I expect at least one juvenile..maybe in a larger display..he did say it would be a sort of centerpiece.

He also said they were trying to figure out how to make the bust deal work..but they wanted to show them as something other than trophy heads..maybe something like sculpted foliage as a base or coming out of water ?

They were also looking at releasing more smaller pieces..single species of Pterosaurs were mentioned.

You mean thursday

Chris

The reveal is Tuesday, it goes on order Thursday though.. ;)

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about those. :lol If the piece ends up looking like that sketch, it will be gorgeous indeed.

Anyone have a pic of that sketch? I don't remember what it looked like...

I'm still collecting other lines, but only pieces here and there. This is the only line I am completely loyal to though.

Smaller pieces would be welcome, as well as bust - which I would be particularly interested to see done.

Was this in the new PT interview? Balls that I have yet to receive the issue myself.
