Did your Vader arrive in tip top Sith condition?

Is there anything to even do at that point aside from just keeping one?

Thats what I was thinking too. They asked me to destroy the one I don't want. So if my replacement is bad, I may see if I can get the Anakin head loose from the rest of the mask and try to straighten it first. If it gets damaged in the process then oh well.

Just received my Shiny Clonetrooper, one of the heads was completely ****ed. Got a SS Yoda at the weekend, one arm doesn't move, one leg broken off.
My confidence in SS QC is rapidly declining. Worried with Grievous on the way soon.

:(

Took a look at Vader at the local collectibles shop yesterday. Everything but the cape looked fine. The cape had a jagged cut to it. Like someone had literally cut pieces from the edge. This was the 'regular' version, so it's not just the exclusive that has these quality issues.

The belt wasn't the easiest thing to put on and the wires on my replacement did not sit as flatly and hidden as they did on the non-working original. I really had to play around with the belt to get it on without red wires showing. It was frustrating, but I think I got him back together in decent shape. I didn't get a spare chest box with my belt, but didn't end up needing it. The belt plugs into a connector that runs out of the back of his inner tunic and powers the chest module.

How easy is it to take it all apart to replace the belt? I have a replacement coming and don't want to mess around too much. Do you have to take off the tunic to get to everything?

The belt is held on by velcro tabs in the back. The chest box attachment unplugs from the belt at the rear and hides well in the tunic. It not hard at all to swap out, but it does take a little futzing to get the chest box connector back into place and then aligning the belt and making sure no wires are showing. It took a little patience, but its not very difficult. Test your belt lights and I even plugged in the chest box and tested it before I set to work aligning everything.

You do not need to take off the tunic to get to the chest box wire. Once you unplug the faulty belt, plug the existing chest box cable back into your new belt and slide it back down into the tunic. It stayed inside the tunic quite well once I got the belt back into place. For ease of work, I popped his head off and removed his cape. Be careful of his cape hook on the shoulder armor. It looks easily broken. Good luck.

Sadly my Vader arrived in the same condition as many of yours. Both tusks broken on helmeted dome, scratches and imperfections on both domes, chest box unglued from straps, and frayed cape. As much as I want to enjoy this figure I just can't with all the issues.

I'm very disappointed in Sideshow right now.

I sold my bum Vader to a customizer on the boards and used the money to help fund another one. It arrived today in fantastic shape!!! All four tusks present, scratch free helmets, non frayed cape, and working electronics.

The anakin head is still ascew, and the base battery compartment screw was stripped out of the box, but I seriously do not care as I feel extremely lucky to get a good one.

This figure is awesome. I'm so happy to finally have the vader I've always wanted in my collection. :yess:

Got mine yesterday and finally had a chance to check it out after work, today. My lucky streak with Sideshow continues. Helmet has a tiny scuff that I can only see under bright lights, so I'm going to buff it out. Cape had some very minor imperfections on the bottom but not at all uneven or heavily frayed. The right tusk (if looking at Vader) broke through the plastic inserts they use to prevent scratching to the mask, but otherwise were fine. Unmasked Vader (checked it out to ensure it wasn't damaged but it will never again be leaving the box...) and the stand with the mask and dome are both aligned and all the lights work.

Really my only issues are that although the packaging looks very nice, it's a little frustrating getting at everything (especially the unlit lightsaber... there's no space at all for your fingers). Wish they'd used foam inserts on Vader like they did for Grievous. Only other nitpick are the gloves. They do look way more flared than on the actual costume but I don't think I'll be displaying him in poses where that will be too noticeable.

Biggest issue I expected to have is the height, but I'm very happy with how Vader looks in-hand and it didn't bother me at all. That may change once he's displayed amongst other figures, but right now, I think he looks proportionate. The belt and chest lights are fantastic. Really adds an ambience to Vader that I was happy to see in person. The exclusive severed hand is pretty neat and I may end-up finding a way to display wounded Vader, whereas initially I felt it would just stay in the box. Lastly, the material for his cape and tunic is fantastic and drapes really well. Overall, very impressed and glad I didn't get hung-up on how much I disliked the prototype pics we saw prior to SDCC.

@ Chrakalackis: That's awesome that your new Vader is issue free. Felt kinda bad for you that your initial Vader had so many problems, especially since you couldn't get anything replaced. Glad the new one worked out!

Thanks man. I'm glad your Vader arrived in good condition as well. It's a major let down to get such an anticipated and expensive figure with a lot of issues. After messing around w/Vader for the last couple days I have to say that he's just absolutely beast. The only figure I've ever had that has the same "wow" factor is HT Luke. I'm really stoked to have Lord Vader!!! :banana

Anyone else thinks it's very obvious that Sideshow has switched to different production facilities since last year?

My Vader arrived in excellent condition too. Brought him into work. He's so Awesome :)

I got my replacement anakin head today and it was still crooked and had worse paint aps. I modded my original head and straightened it out. At least the replacement belt and shoulder armor I needed were good.

I didn't receive a sabre grip hand and my helmet had a dent/ scratch which happened prior to painting, I sent them a photo of the doubled up hand and the defect on my initial email and will getting a replacement for both.. No complaints here about CS

I thought I didn't get the right saber grip but nope I left it in the box. Duh!

One of the tusks on mine was bent and dangling, then broke off when I took him out. I could see that the plastic box was bending the tusk before I took him out, but it was a minor fix with some glue so I'm happy now. :)

Other than that, everything else was perfect, including all the lights. I like it a lot! :)

What a magnificent figure. Mine just arrived today. Completely mint with no issues. Hooray!

Same exact thing happened to mine. I was really impressed with myself that I was able to get it back on. It's such a small piece and my hands aren't as steady as they were 10 years ago.
