I always thought those 20-30 minute sell out times were a very unrealistic representation of the actual demand for these figures. I mean it's ridiculous for any 1/6 figure with an edition size over 1,000 to be selling out that quick.

Sideshow show shake in the boots. Star Wars fans are angry:horror......

Re: Han Price Increase discussion thread

HT&Medicom >SS

I don't know about half but there is no denying that Medicom and HT make a finer product.Hence why you don't see threads about the price of HT figures etc.People know they are getting a real good product from those company's and are for the most part happy with it and willing to pay the price.

I see this as an attempt From SS to see how much they can get away with. They know we keep buying,(SWfans)so they can essentially do what they want.

A little bit of shock testing maybe? SS could be raising the price on thier regular figure's now to get us ready for the $99.99 or more price-tag that Vader,Boba and other armoured figure's will most definitely have.It would also look real stupid if their is a $50 price difference between regular and armoured figure's.But SS should really have a new body to go with those prices, then it would somewhat justify it.

Who the flip cares.

If you think something costs to much, get this, don't buy it. Crying on a message board, sending emails or even calling won't change anything. Not buying a product will.

Even if you buy it from somewhere else for cheaper, Sideshow is still getting their money on it. Direct sales are just icing on the cake.

I buy direct from them because they have the best customer service if there is a problem and I can cancel preorders without any fee's. Like anything in life, you pay for good service.

I still don't see why this conversation goes on. If you don't want it then don't buy it. Quit your complaining. If you don't like it then move to India. You can barter at some bazzar there. :lol That way the next time you want to pay less for something maybe you can trade a sheep or two. For the love of God. What is with you SW complainers. It is really getting old. You are making me ashamed to collect SW stuff. Quit being deuch bags.

Re: Han Price Increase discussion thread

Sideshow might have a real justification for this 30% price increase in the standard SW figures within 2 years. If so, I wish they would share it with us...

I completely agree, I just hope we don't see another 30 dollar jump when they update to the new body...but in the end its the consumers choice on whether to buy the figure or not. I would suggest if you really want these figures at a lower price point just wait and buy from a secondary market or wait for some deals (that will surely come about as they always seem to with these figures) on Ebay or here in the classifieds section.

I know this thread has already degraded into people whining about people whining but I'd still like to voice my opinions on the subject.

Sideshow stuff is heading towards being too expensive for me. Not just because I can't afford them, I can. I feel that they're beginning to be more expensive than I think they are worth. Medicom also falls into this category. Medicom for example makes a nice product. I won't dispute that.. but...

...most of the time their figures just don't seem to be anything close to a good value. For example I'd love to have the "L" figure from Death Note. I love the character and would love a great figure of him. He's $124.99 though before shipping. If you take out the cost of the body that's $100 for a headsculpt with about four colors of paint on it, and a pair of jeans and a shirt. No accesories, nothing else.

Now in the case of Sideshow they do put a lot more money into the paint on most of the heads, they don't skimp on accesories, and many of the outfits are very complex. This is true of Hot Toys as well, who in general aren't THAT much more expensive that Sideshow. And for me, this is just me we're talking about, I swap out all my Sideshow bodies (and usually the boots/shoes too). So a $65 Sideshow figure ends up costing me more like $90-100 which falls in line with the more expensive figures on the market.

Of course if Sideshow develops some new mind-blowing body this would all change. I'd be willing to pay $100 for one of their figures and wouldn't feel gypped.

Don't blame Sideshow or the economy. The rise in Sideshow product started with the $tar War$ line way back with the first figure. Blame George Luca$.

Just wait until you guys see the price point for Indiana Jone$!

I'm think Indy will end up in the $90.00-$100.00 range. If that's the case Indy with be the only one from the line I buy.

No it didn't. Sideshow figures had nearly doubled in price before the Star Wars license was even announced.

The price of Sideshow items did rise slowly but with the first $tar War$ figure it took quite a leap. That in conjunction with so many core characters made it easy for me to skip the line entirely.

I will be getting an Indy no matter what the cost because he is a stand alone character and I see no need to get anything else in the Indiana Jones Line.

The first Star Wars character released I think was Luke. He retailed for $49.99. Aragorn who I'm pretty sure came out before Luke cost $64.99. I would maybe call $64.99 to $49.99 a leap, but it's a leap backwards. I can't be sure of that because I can't find any release dates but I'm fairly certain LotR figures where coming out before the Star Wars license was announced. Additionally I'm positive Hellboy came out long before the Star Wars figures did he cost $45.00. Just a few years prior Sideshow figures (such as the "Vampyre" I have) where more in the neighborhood of $20-25.

The increase in price of Sideshow figures is entirely independent of the Star Wars license and is more likely a reflection of the passing of time (ie Inflation) and the increase in complexity of Sideshow's products.
