Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

I think it has more to do with the fact that they're good at releasing these armoured figures, adding more detail here and there but with low overhead.

So they make a higher return on Investment (ROI), I think we agree here. :dunno

but I don't think these releases affect the pace of OT releases .

Your right and that's what I said, but a lot of other people think so. They only have so much money to develop new products each year and have to divide it among all product lines.

or finance them in any way.

Everything SS sells and makes a profit on helps finance the company and all new products (star wars and others). Although no one knows their financials since their privately owned, the proliferation of clones means their a reliable money maker and add more to the ROI than anything else. So I guess we'll agree to disagree on your last point. :1-1:

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

But I do think it can possibly hurt the overall series if they become stale and release too many of the same thing over and over again.

Don't disagree with you here. And I could see these sticking around for awhile and maybe that's the plan with only a new specific character clone once or twice a year like Woiffe? I certainly wouldn't mind being able to buy them over time, say a year or two.

Not to mention I have a feeling these will come with a pretty hefty price tag... With Bacara coming in at $135 as pretty bare-bones with only on helmet and no Morrison portrait I'd think these could easily top $150.

I hope not. I think these will be priced at $135 like the Utapau Airborne Trooper, there isn't any large extra cost I can see and it would be spread over 4 figures anyways.

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

Maybe... but 2 buckets, and the extra large weapon and backpack could be where the cost comes in.

Not to mention there is a steady creep up in price between releases. I mean the Cobra Commander is $175 and aside from the 2nd head appears to be a pretty basic figure.

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

so wait til TA parts out the clones and get only what you need..weapons, etc...ph 1 buckets, etc...because 150 bucks each isnt worth buying them for just excl. weapons or what have you...

You forget one very important fact, it is not just a basic figure! It is a figure with Kato tailored suit. remember the Joker 2.0? wasn't that also Kato's work? And HT kept saying that they paid a lot for it? lol. Having Kato on the tailoring definitively improves SS figures with fabric outfits.

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

just wait until you see that Kato tailored the new 3.0 bodysuit for the deluxe clones, easy 189.99 per figure

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

Whatever happens I am atleast picking up 2-3 depending on price only the shiny and white veteran. Need more clones for my army and if anything can always mod them down the road. The backpacks are a welcome sight since I have been wanting one for some time now.

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

With these releases, I smell phase II Captain Rex is not far behind!!! I think that's what SS is planning. Cody got his troops already. It is time for Rex's now.

I hope they don't move clones to the Prometheus 1.2 or 1.3 bodies...I don't want to fight with ratchet knees...I have lots of clones crouching or down to a knee...otherwise I can't wait for the exact details of what is included...

Oh god no those ratchet knees are the worse. I am sure though they will stick with the armored bodies due to they work so well know why switch it I mean its SSC were talking about......oh **** were getting wratchet knees :gah:

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

I'm in for the new 501st, 212th and the veteran. Not interested in the shiny clone whatsoever. It feels like these things come in waves. I have a feeling we'll get another one (maybe a Shocktrooper with Phase I) as an SDCC exclusive on top of it?

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

Could the price really get as high as $135? Didn't the green siege clone trooper come out around a year ago and cost about $90? And that had the ton of hands, two pairs of feet etc. The airborne at $135 had the skirt, a whole new type of helmet and parts that other clones didn't. I guess it will be a bit more simply beacause it's a "deluxe" but a $45 extra?

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

If I had to guess, I'd say it'll be $125.00 - $135.00. Just thinking that's about the max that they'll be able to milk out of collectors and still make it seem like a decent deal, next to the other stuff @ $175.00+.

119.99 is what I think they will go for any higher and its just madness for collectors to army build like they want us to. Everything on the clones is just a re do of older clones except for the backpack and Gatling so any higher than 119.99 is asking to much. If they do go 135$+ a piece I am going to order threw other retailers than SSC just to save some money or wait for this whole thing to fall apart and pick up clones that are discounted at some point.
