Re: Firefly?

Man I must be getting old, first I cant tell green from gray and I just read Allen Iverson retired :(

At any rate, I dont see SS making any changes, I think we are stuck with this one..

Re: Firefly?

When you think of certain characters there's usually one or two images that immediately come to mind. Destro (Chrome head), CC (Chrome Face or Hood), Snake Eyes (Visor), Firefly (His camo from head to toe) etc.

I just wish SS would understand not to EFF with the iconic parts of the Joe figures. Y'know if they want to tweek a few things here and there to make him more current and less 80's like, that's cool. But dont take the particular image or accessory that the Joe was known for and piss all over it.

Leave that to the Hollywood studios and the ROC garbage....

Re: Firefly?

firefly is part of my joe trinity along with se and ss. this is way different than what i was expecting but i still kind of dig him. looks very resolute-ish to me.

Re: Firefly?

To be fair the '84 Storm Shadow and SSC's rendition share a lot of similarities. As do the Cobra Trooper and Duke. CCv and Snakes are based off the GI Joe Reloaded covers from Bradstreet.

Personally I don't see many similarities between this Firefly and the original version, which every figure thus far has had at least some. But what annoys me is the fact that we were shown concept art for a version many, myself included, would have preffered.

I can concede that as a military figure he looks cool and get why folks are diggin him. For some he is Firefly, for others he is not, and yet for others he is better than nothing.

That's pretty much the last thing I'm going to say on the subject. Pick it apart and analyze it if you must.

Re: Firefly?

I just wanted to show that the picture of FF has green tones in it. I am not saying that the real product will (I would hope not), but the picture is green in tone. I have not altered this other than layering a colorless picture over it. If you cant see they difference then maybe you are the one that is going blind from the internet porn.

Re: Firefly?

Thats a curious taste, IMO, and not because Firefly is iconic or anything.

Its just to me like saying a Mustang without racing stripes looks cooler than one that does.

Unless something is cheesey or tacky (like the skull balacavas), I find a paint scheme to be more visually interesting than one without.

Just from an aesthetic point of view, I like how the pattern is broken up - same with the black patches - makes the whole ensemble more visually interesting. That's kind of why I'm not a fan of the original all camo look of Firefly. What is he thinking? It's almost as if he doesn't WANT to be seen...

Don't listen to complacent people. It is not as if Sideshow is giving you this for free or even selling it at a bargin cost relative to the hobby. You have every right to demand a better product.

The problem is that Sideshow is aware/arrogant enough to know that it can cut corners and deliver a sub-par product while still seeing high demand with ever-increasing prices. The people who robotically buy these figures are simply enabling Sideshow's attitude when it comes to 1:6 figures in general.

Again with the superlatives that will make SSC completely discount anything posted here. It's not a subpar product - it's different from what people were expecting, but it's not like they skimped on accessories or have him in a camo t-shirt. In fact this jacket is probably more complex than the standard camo BDU top would have been.

See I thought so

So its safe to go back to the pron :rotfl

Re: Firefly?

Definitely seeing green in the jacket camo patterm, and this is on both my work computer and home computer. It's a dark green, kind of like a dark olive drab green color with a little hunter green to it. So those of you seeing black may want to adjust the tint on your monitors ;)

Anyway...am I the only one looking closly at the mask and thinking there IS possibly a camo tone painted there, just not with a very strong contrast? Especially around the mouth/cheek area below the eye opening...not all of the darker areas quite appear to be shadows to me.

I think I'll be ordering the Ex. I found a nice two-tone grey camo uniform from a parts dealer for $7. And no, Firefly's outfit is NOT grey and black camo as someone previously mentioned! I own both the original figure and the 25th Anniversary figure, and BOTH of them are two-tone grey camo.

Its not true. You cant go blind. If you do, then your doing it wrong and its your own damn fault.

It's time to update guys. Give up the Windows98 and the tube Screens. There's absolutely NO GREEN in Firefly. Either that or it's time to call your optometrist and have him run some color tests...

Believe it or not, if they said fluorescent green and gray, they'd be right too! Fact is, like Fruit Loops, he's been a rainbow of fruity colors. :lol

Courblindness confuses me. I feel bad for people who don't see the full colour spectrum.

Actually, the military pays big bucks for people who are colorblind. I have a buddy who suffers it mildly and they've been trying to recruit him to help with camouflage R&D for almost a decade.

Neat little factoid. Blue was added to green traffic lights to help colorblind people know when the light turns green. ;)

Even if I'm old school, I kinda like the design...What is a travesty though, is Evilface's comment on Sideshow's page that ''Firefly would blow up Planet Hulk''....:cuss:lol
