Alright I just applied it with a soft brush from the bottle and let it dry .Here on the left leg of RO. The products gets absorbed and leaves an even finish that's slightly shiner like some sort of coating. I might leave it like that because if I try to rub it with a cloth I might peel off the pleather. But at the touch it does seem less brittle

Are Vader's boots and belts Pleather too?

oh I'll try the shoe polish on the little bits that did flake off mine inside the crotch

Everything is pleather on their vaders. The stuff that has peeled on mine(cape collar and boots), I painted with black liquitex basic acrylics paint and angelus black leather paint. The liquitex is pretty shiny, so it may need something to make it matte. After that, I put on angelus matte finsher + a tiny amount of angelus duller because their matte finisher is actually shiny for some reason. You'll have to play around with it to see what kind of sheen you want. People use angelus to paint custom shoes, so it's the best option to cover and remain flexible

This right here is the best advice for trying to "fix" pleather. It's exactly what I do when real leather replacement isn't an option

Maybe HT will do a proper one in their artisan line

I'm 100% certain of it.

It's why they gave us that crappy cape and non-leather suit for their best Vader yet (ROTJ). But now that they've fixed the mask, they can proceed to the Artisan Vader.

There will still be something wrong -- but it will have real leather suit and the ROTJ mask and a beautiful flowing cape and a few other issues corrected.

I'd don't know why but sending a reply is the only way I can comment on this discussion (sorry Wor-Gar).

I have just received my Vader from Hong Kong and it has rubs on the helmet.

I can't see any mention of them meant to be there. Is my Vader helmet defective?

Someone else here had the same issue with their helmet. I think they asked for a replacement.
So it shouldn't look like that, it's not "weathering" or anything? Getting a replacement helmet from a Hong Kong seller will be an interesting experience. I've just sent the selling company an email so I will wait to hear from them.

It’s defective, that’s scuffed paint.

Unfortunately most HK sellers aren’t interested in helping you much after the fact, one of the only reasons I still purchase from Sideshow. Their return and exchange process is about as flawless as it can get, prepaid shipping labels no matter the size and within a weeks time of the return, you have a new product in hand, no guess work.

If you can't get a replacement, you can try some polishing compound for black cars. I've used polishing compound to get rid of scratches and scuffs on the hexagon display bases
