I dig the figures too. You'll always have the supremely dedicated that will keep paying whatever SSC charges, but the people on a tighter budget will have to make the cuts...and in the end those supremely dedicated will end up taking the punishment for that. Every $ missed by someone like me that simply can't afford it anymore is being covered by someone who can. A line like this could be $200 a figure in a year or so.

I just about passed on Fint as an Ex. $148 shipped. :horror Luckily I had $17 in rewards points. But if the next one's remotely close to that, I think I'll go the way of a retailer that offers a discount and doesn't force me to pay CA sales tax. At $125 or so, I'm in like Flynn, but at $150 I'm looking at everything I collect and it's just not doable.

SIDESHOW, I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU'D DO IT, BUT FIX THIS SOMEHOW! :lol

It's only a matter of time before the government passes a mandatory internet sales tax. Uncle Sam wants his cut too.

One of you is gonna have to move :lol

Well, to be fair, the obligation to purchase from them is made harder and harder with companies like Alter Ego and Viking Playground who offer the same great customer service as well as identical rewards points programs (which look even better with their lower prices). As much as I'd love to give Sideshow my money first, it's becoming less likely with every release.

There was a time when I would've considered moving to OR, but I'm not paying a BS window tax. :lol

Yeah, the CA sales tax can be a real killer...

I've noticed this on HT items if there's no Ex, secondary market is the best bet in getting some 1/6 higher end stuff. It drops so rapidly, only in a matter of months and SS items as well if you are not interested in exclusives.

Nothing wrong with using other venders, both of those are great, I've used them. But to me, so fall all the Joes but Snake Eyes have come with a exclusive item that I think is essential to the character.

But yea, paying that CA tax on this stuff has to suck, that is what another $12?

If 20 LOTR figures would have been made I would have been ecstatic.

All 10 of us who actually picked up the entire line would've been stoked! :lol

For those prices though, I can pretty much either bash them or start looking for alternatives. I could have just as easily picked up some CIA Binoculars for Duke and painted them OD, and Flint's modified Remington 870 is easily customized (didn't go that route, but man, it's really starting to look appealing :(). A measly four Joes from Sideshow and I've damn near paid for a Trooper variant. I wonder if there's something they can do about CA shipping to lessen the brunt of taxes.

It would have been nice if Sideshow posted a pic of Flint without his beret. Wondering what the beret-less sculpt looks like.

He is bald. They had to do that to make that beret fit like it does. They didn't show it because they know what is going to happen when they do and they are scared.

Hard to order HT items through SS unless there's an essential EX, like the P1 bio.... Otherwise it's just a no brainer for me to go through a different retailer. SS is charging about 15-20 dollars more per HT figure, then tax adds another 15 to the total... Their prices are comparable to getting the initial Hong Kong releases shipped to me, only I'm waiting another 3 months or so :lol.

high and tight is my guess as well. Shorter than Dukes.

I guess I count as 2 and a half of those people since I have doubles of all and an army of hobbits :lol

Well I'm hoping the line sticks around long enough for them to design the new female body and for Lady Jaye to come out but I'm starting to get that lotr/indy feeling. Now if everybody is just shifting to regualr retailers for cheaper prices and don't want to pay the extra money for a gun than maybe it's just the exclusives SS is choosing and not the line that is losing excitement.

Where did it say they were doing to headsculpts? Or that the Beret could come off? I'd love it if it did but I'm remembering German Indy and they listed the hat as an item but well it doesn't come off (at least it's not supposed to).

Well, likely that'll only increase the price of the figures and further add to the situation as higher prices = higher taxes.

I don't see a LOTR vibe at all. SS still gets most of their sales from retailers.

I guess it just seems like the edition sizes of the exclusives are small enough for Joe that I'd expect a quick sell out. I'm not concerned about the Cobra soldiers not being sold out because they've released 3 of them in less than 6 months but I would have thought with Flint being a unique character and only the third Joe that his exclusive would go faster.
