Part of what makes his head look funny is the shape of his skull. It's flat on top to fit the beret. Without the beret, the length of his face makes makes you extremely aware that it's disproportionate. Add the Herman Munster hair and the expression on his face, and the effect is rough.
But with the beret on, the proportions are fine. If his paint is atleast equal to Duke's, I don't see an issue. It will be cool to one day get some master repaints, but yeah, in hand trumps first pic hysteria, once again.
That was my concern when I heard that the beret would be removeable. The teaser pics and proto pics showed the beret pretty snug on Flint's head, and as time went by and Sideshow still hadn't shown pics of the beret portrait, I was certain that it wouldn't look good. But it is a moot point because as all have said, who's gonna display Flint withoput his beret?
I just hope that if and when Sideshow gets to either Lowlight and Tunnel Rat, the two get a fabric knit cap and bandanna, respectively.
Sculpted.... look at BH.
I ragged pretty hard on Flint in a different thread, so I feel that I should post here and say that the recent pics make him look much better. The hairline still looks bad, but the rest seems ok. My apologies to SS for jumping on the hate bandwagon.
(Hopefully it's ok to express this opinion as one of the "non-elite".

And preferred. Snake Eyes looks loads better with a sculpted mask. If they do like Beach and give us a sculpted hat on and a bare head with mock cap, that'd be excellent.
I seem to remember one of the old Hot Toys military figures came with a fabric knit cap, but I can't remember for certain. Am I wrong?
Seems like there is no consensus on this figure. Some say bad quality, others love it. Can't wait to have it in hand to judge for myself.
Sniper.
