Exactly.. I had erased the PT as Canon for years. Just some well made fan fiction. After TFA and TLJ came out I was about ready to cancel out the ST.

Then Came TROS and I ended up accepting all of it as canon. :lol

In no way do I think the ST sucks as a whole. Well except TLJ. I accept that it sucks as a whole because I only really like about 25% of the story. TROS has plot issues but I love the look, feel, and overall story. TFA was made better to me because of TROS.

I dont think the PT sucks because its SW. But they are such awkward films with some ideas that I like and some that I really hate. Bad acting takes me out of a movie each and every time and the PT has that in abundance. If the actors cant believe they are in a galaxy far far away, then how can I. AOTC Sucks though. I give it a pass because its SW but I really dont like anything in that film. Its just less offensive then the stuff I hate in TLJ.

So Again.. I just say that most of SW other then two films are problematic and less then perfect.

The ST has a lack of a plan issue, some plot holes, some bad ideas, with a bad middle chapter but has great acting and some great sets and FX and some good action.

The PT is a mess of bad acting, dialogue, direction, some bad ideas with a bad middle chapter but has some great world building, imagination, FX and some good action.

Pick you poison.

Swallow it all.

Or stay healthy and don't try any of it :lol :lol

Funny thing about tlj its not a bad movie its just a terrible star wars movie- its like an alternate reality nightmare for star wars fans. If disney would just come out say it was a ****ing dream world ir elseworlds tale i could accept the st way better. Such a shame too they wasted some really good acting from MH and Adam Driver. AD would have made a good ben solo in the real star wars universe where the emperor actually died in jedi so he never turned into kylo ren. That was actually my favorite part of tros seeing the real ben solo for like 5 minutes. Would have enjoyed following his character grow as a jedi knight like his uncle oh well

Disney has no authority over me. Just because they own the "rights" to the property doesn't mean it's "real."

What happened to Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando, and the droids after their Endor party? Who knows. It's entirely up to you.

If you reject this Disney ******** corporate lifeless soulless **** like I do, then just refuse to accept it. You need someone to hold your hand and officially announce it's not "canon?" I don't. It was never canon to me. The story ended with Leia pulling Luke back into his circle of friends, after he said goodbye to the ghosts of his past. What happens next is wide open.

I guess if you LIKE the idea of the three of them wasting their lives and dying pointless deaths, with all of their heroics amounting to nothing, that's your choice.

I don't think those characters would let that happen to them. I think they're stronger than that.

The Emperor is dead. Anakin Skywalker is redeemed. There is and never will be any character known as "Rey."

That's how I see it. Just cause the biggest corporation in the world hired a bunch of salty middle aged women to take a big old Cleveland Steamer on the trilogy I was raised on doesn't make it valid in the slightest. Anyone with enough money can do anything. Disney could make Citizen Kane 2 where he jumps out of bed and starts dancing around the room, but it'll never be "canon."

Anyway....I'm rambling again. This stinking thread does that to me. TL;DR F Disney in the A. Without lube.

This post sums up in a nutshell why Star Wars in aggregate is just a lost cause...over the past 5 years it has gone from being my favorite...thing...to being something that I really no longer have time for.
When I go to my favorite restaurant (non Fondu of course) the staff doesn?t force me to leave my wife sitting alone at our table and go into the kitchen and help them cook the food and then clean the dishes afterwards. I sit, I order, they serve me, and I enjoy.
Anything that requires so much head canon and work to become palatable is a failure.
The creators are supposed to do all of that work for the audience.
I hate everything that the ST did to humiliate and erase the achievements of the OT characters and wish that they had not been made. But, unfortunately they were.
Where does the canon cherry picking end? What if I prefer to believe that Ben Kenobi was telling the truth about Vader having killed Luke?s Father and that Darth Vader was in fact lying when he claimed to be Luke?s Father?
Or maybe in my head canon the Death Star survived the explosion at the end of ANH and the rebels were all put to death by Tarkin?
I guess I can do that if I want to...but the reality is the only ?canon? is what is shown in these movies.

What kinda disgusts me - and yet would be celebrated by some - is that this thread has over 20,000 replies while the Avengers Endgame thread has under 7000. Avengers Endgame was far more applauded by Marvel fandom than Star Wars IX was by Star Wars fandom. Why are we elevating relative mediocrity in our fantasy genre with continual non-stop discussion? Star Wars doesn't deserve this kind of attention anymore.

This right here is the number one reason I quit trying with the ST and said screw it. I've seen so many fans twisting themselves into pretzels trying to headcanon this crap into coherency. It's not worth it.

I suppose I have a line when it comes to headcanon - when you have to headcanon so much of something to make it work for you, why bother? Why spend your time on it or your money collecting it, when you can spend it on something you actually enjoy as is, or at least mostly as is?

Fanfic is for fun, it's not for repairing 80% of a story.

I have my share of favorite television shows, book series, movie series, etc...where there have been ups and downs and stories I like more than others - but the main thing is there's still a lot there that I enjoy.

That's definitely not the case with the ST. So bye, bye it went. I didn't buy TROS, got rid of my ST blu rays, sold anything ST I had (luckily it wasn't much, overall, because there's no market in it) and made space for better things.

I think reading the last two pages of the post that you guys don't even like Star Wars, you seem to try too hard to like this franchise.
I dont mean any harm to any of you guys, but if you dont like why pretend to like and spend money in something so bad?

Ba-Ba-But I like ma-ma-my head movies....

Star Wars has a very strong core spanning twenty odd years of story from Solo through Rogue One, the OT, and The Mandalorian.

I consider anything before or after this period as excess baggage.

The OT is the period that sparked the interest, so the further things diverge from it the less interest I have. The ST is almost like a completely different franchise, like those sci-fi series and films of the 1970s and 1980s that grew out of the buzz created by Star Wars itself.

I'd much rather watch the likes of Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone than the ST or PT.

Meh.. Does not take that much head canon.

That sucks that the ST ended up being that way for you.. You know how I know? Because I was right there with you after TLJ.. After 5 SW films that just could not seem to find the magic of the OT I was ready to check out. I thought about even selling my OT items.. After all. the crap from the PT was even seeping into the OT with George screwing with the films so it was becoming harder to ignore the PT. So I was about done.

Then TROS came and saved it all for me. All of it. Not because it was the best SW movie. But because for me it felt the most like a SW movie and how I felt when I use to love SW as a kid.

I can accept that Rey is powerful because she comes from the most powerful force User in the galaxy. I can accept that she can force heal because she was part of a Dyad. I can accept that the Emperor had a plan to move his soul into the body of a Clone..

That too me is not too much jumping around and making up my own Head Canon.

But if I hated TROS I would have been right there with you 110%

I am trying to wrap my head around this. Most fans really claim to feel that Star Wars lost its way after Empire Strikes Back so I think more than anything it is misplaced loyalty to the feeling of experiencing ANH and ESB for the first time, the joy of buying those old Kenner figures...and really does not have anything to do with liking the movies in general. I think most Star Wars fans are actually fans of being Star Wars fans versus being fans of the Star Wars movies.

Very well put.

I love the era with The Empire. There seems to be so much more to investigate during that time. Plenty of room for more films.

Jye ...... when u find out one day that khev is doomcock and your on your 200th viewing of tros and you can?t seem to figure out why you can?t find enjoyment from it I?ll be waiting. To laugh at you. Cause I know it?s gonna happen.

Then you?ll be like one of those angry ot fans who melt there Star Wars collection on YouTube. You?ll have a total melt down .

It?s really been khev and jye. This thread would ha e died long ago if they didn?t keep back and forth convincing themselves it?s good.
Then kick the pt fans hornets nest while also saying ROTJ was bad. So they really have been clever in keeping this thread alive.

The rest of the world forgot this existed and soon Disney will but the two of them desperately need something to hold onto cause they waited for this since the 70s and it sucked ass.

That?s why I?m not surprised khev was driven into madness from the sheer pain of these films

My order of viewings go like this:

PT: Dozens each one

OT: I lost count

ST: Under 15 each one but I own them in 3D :yess:
