Thunderdome is horrible!

Still has an awesome third act though, which Miller directed. If he did the entire movie I'm sure it would have been on par with the first two.

Holdo ripped off his finishing move from the climax of both Road Warrior and Thunderdome, imagine if GM directed TLJ, lol. :drool

Granted, it had too many kids and not enough cars. But on the plus side... Tina Turner! Angry Anderson!!

When was the last time you gave it a try? As with ST:TMP, I've developed a whole new appreciation for it in my old age.

(It did, however, start the sad trend of dispensing with the Interceptor...)

Actually it was Road Warrior that totaled the Interceptor. Unless you mean that Thunderdome was the first MM film to not feature it at all, in which case it was also the only film to do so, so not really a "trend" per se.

Well it got *virtually* no screen time in FR, so...

The fact it mysteriously reappeared in FR led some to believe Thunderdome had been retconned, but the official FR comic confirms Thunderdome is still a thing.

Though to me FR felt like a reimagining of Thunderdome.

Just 2 weeks ago lol

Nostalgia barely got me thru it!

Wait Miller didn?t direct the whole movie.

I forgot about the behind the scenes drama for this movie did WB take this one away from him as well lol

I?m not a fan of FR but his SW would be interesting to say the least.

To me FR is more bad than good. Horribly wasted villain who just sat on the side of a hill. Had Max not returned he would still be sitting there moping.

But Miller just turned 98 he still got a few MM movies in him left.

Maybe Harrison Ford can be MM lol

trolling the PT again Jye?

Yo Momma lol

Damn, I was talking about something here, but went away for a few days and now this thread is some 20 pages longer! :lol
Oh well...

Don?t be lazy read everything you missed since your last visit and report back your findings lol

Mad Max movies are like Indy movies -- there is only one truly great film:

Mad Max - Road Warrior
Indy - Raiders

Other franchises in this category:
Jaws
Back to the Future
Matrix

No, as much as I love Fury Road, its not Road Warrior. Its a great 2nd. Its Max's ESB or to a lesser extent Temple of Doom.

I forgot another one-hit wonder: Die Hard

All three BTTF films were pretty good. It's pretty harsh to lump that franchise in with some others that contained flat out bad films.

True, but a great 2nd is still great, so I don't know how there's "only one great film" in the franchise. :lol

I agree about Die Hard, but Live Free or Die Hard is one of my guilty pleasures. Great supporting cast (Olyphant, Maggie Q, Winstead, Justin Long, Kevin Smith), and it's just so ridiculously over the top I can't help but watch it every time it's on. :lol

I freaking love Live Free or Die Hard. IMO its the 2nd best DH film. I never got the love for DH:3.. He hardly fights any terrorist. Just runs around and solves riddles. Plus it almost just as over the top as LFODH.

Other then the Jet wing Surf scene and jumping from said Jet.. Only to brush himself off most it is practical stunts and believable enough.

Some say they dont like JM becoming a Superhero.. But that only happens after he finds out they have his daughter.. I am cool with that.

Now its nowhere as good as the original. But it is a solid sequel IMO. Better then DH:3 and Much better then DH:2 and AGDTDH.

Yep, it's #2 for me as well. Truth be told I don't think I've ever actually seen the complete DH3 film, but from the parts I have seen I don't think I've missed anything special. And I know I haven't seen any of AGDTGH. Isn't that the one where he's in Russia and he suddenly has a son? As I recall it received some scathing reviews....

I guess that's true. Maybe I'll go your original suggestion and say since its nearly 4 decades later and a different actor playing Max, it's not part of the Gibson Max trilogy.

Best part of DH3 is the racism rants between Willis and SLJ. Great scenes and funny chemistry between them. It does feel like two completely different films mashed together and called a Die Hard movie.

I'm not a huge fan of BTTF 2 or especially 3 which I hate. The retread gets so tiresome, even in 2. They are comparable to Matrix 2 and 3. Half a good movie in 2, just a bad movie in 3. Sorry kiddies.

Yeah, Fury Road could almost be different Max leading a parallel life dealing with a another band of crazies on the opposite end of the Australian wasteland. :lol

As for DH3, the rants/banter between Willis & SLJ are the only thing I remember about the movie. They must have gotten along OK on set, as they teamed up again for Unbreakable. :lol

Yes, I think for both the BTTF & Matrix franchises the novelty wore off rather quickly. Hard to match the originality and freshness of the first installments. I've never revisited the BTTF sequels, which tell me they were forgettable.
