Well firstly midnight sessions on opening day - ROTS had them but TROS did not. And on opening day ROTS was packed out but TROS was only half full.

Secondly, toy sales. ROTS toys still popular to this day but ST toys not doing anything but shelf warming.

That has nothing to do with the quality of the PT. Lots of crap sells. Don?t mean it?s good.

In all honesty I kid about your ROTS being amazing... If it?s amazing to you that?s fine. I can enjoy it for what it is but it?s still bad film making IMO. I've listed all the problems the film has and it's more then just ? I didn't get what I wanted.

Let's face it... Part of the reason ROTS gets more credit then it deserves because AOTC and TPM set the bar so low.

Not gonna lie.. It's probably why I personally liked TROS so much as the bar was set low for that one.

Any other movie gets made with the same issues as ROTS and you would laugh at it.

Like I said before... it's John Carter of Mars but with the coolness of Star Wars.

I 100% agree that sith is viewed more favorably because atoc was so bad but i disagree that the same applies to tros. TFA is the best st movie, last jedi broke the st completely and tros is some lame attempt to retcon last jedi and right the ship. The directors pissing matches and complete lack of respect for one another destroyed the st esp the last two movies. Sadly TFA has been brought down by the sequals that followed it as i said before if it was a one off like rogue one it would be up there as the best disney has done with the property

Mando
Rogue one
Tfa

Solo

Tros
Tlj

Its not even close

Now add in pt and ot

Esb (Gl)
New hope (gl)
Jedi (gl)
Mando (JF)
Rogue one (g. Edwards)
Sith/TFA gl/jj

PM (gl)
Solo (ron howard)

Tros (Jj)
Atoc (gl)
Tlj (Ruin)

That's cool but please note that I was referring to why "I" liked TROS. The bar was set low for "me"

I did not enjoy TFA or TLJ so I had no expectations for TROS. But I ended up enjoying it immensely. I know it's got issues but for "me" it felt more like a SW film then the last 5 saga movies.

See and for me without TROS to fully tell the story of Rey and Kylo I would think the TFA was just another Failure. Not a bad movie per say but not a good SW movie.

I did not like the look / feel / story of that film. I take that back.. I enjoyed the first hour but the film felt more like Cosplay SW instead of Real SW.

In fact upon its release I was one of the ones saying that the PT was better then TFA.

However TROS allowed me to watch the film with a different set of eyes.. And things that I use to hate "Rey's Force abilities and Han's death" have come to be some of my fav parts of that film. I still am not in love with the look of the movie.. It still has a very Made for TV feel.

TLJ is what it is.. I like about 30% of the film.. I hate the rest. TROS did nothing to improve that movie for me.

The ST is a mess of a trilogy. But I glad I can now find enjoyment out of it.

Lol huh? That doesn?t apply here. This is star wars . Merch sells and rots sells but the ST doesn?t . What?s your excuse ? ROTs still sells boatloads of merch and so does clone wars meanwhile ST struggles to sell a figure of rey. Stop

While this is true. ROTS was a step above of everything. Music and atmosphere and tone. Just all around better than the previous two

In all fairness I bought a crap ton of the ROTS figures when if first came out and they are all worthless. What do you mean by sells? The hot toys and higher end collectibles? Then yes people like the characters more then the movies- its a very strange phenomenon- but they do sell. BUT all those 3 3/4 sith figures are absolutely worthless nothing like the OT ones, I have bins and bins of them I cant even give away. Most are worth less then retail price even the retail exclusives like Lava Vader and Lava Obi Wan lol. So I wouldn't say RotS merc has much value outside of the big ticket items. There isn't **** for demand for the smaller Sith vintage movie figures at all. The ot well we all know about that, sure some of it is due to age but im telling you those sith figures just go down in value over time while the OT figures go up

Is there any 3 3/4 inch Hasbro PT figures that are valuable? Did any of that stuff go the way OT figures did in their time (1978-1984)?

i dont think so man, thats why I get confused sometimes when people cite toy sales for the PT. Unless are they are talking about expensive HOT TOYS cause nobody cares about the PT 3 3/4 figures at all. This leads to another question How many people actually spend 200 usd plus on a figure to begin with? I guess when you say toy sales i think about the masses and the 3 3/4 scale figures but they dont sell for PT nor the ST like they did the OT. So i dont know where all these PT toy sales are coming from that people keep citing here, outside of people on this forum who are big spender collectors.

If you go by just this forum then yes PT figures sell better then ST for sure but if you go out into the real world aint nobody buying PT figures- (st figures do not even register as sales cause nobody buys them but PT isnt much better)

Actually if you take a close look, nothing star wars sells really well anymore (outside of Mando merc)- between the PT and ST they killed all toy sales even the OT. Just take a look at big bad toy store all those black figures in stock, then check out figuarts all those star wars figures in stock like forever, then go to marvel section big difference in demand esp with figuarts figures .Do the same thing with the Japanese websites that sell those figures. All marvel sold out all star wars available

I think toy sales in general are down; today's kids just aren't into plastic playthings.

They have been conditioned by companies like fortnite to buy digital goods that will disappear when the game does. They get kids hooked on buy costumes and digital avatars that they dont own instead of toys they would have forever. Now when these kids become adults they wont buy movies everything will be digital purchases where they own nothing. I feel sorry for this generation, they will wake up one day and realize they dont really own a god damn thing all that money spent under the guise of ownership and nothing to show for it. Hopefully when fortnite goes belly up and it will end at some point kids learn their lesson if not they are ****ed to a life of fake ownership in digital rights

True. There is no increase in value for digital ownership by consumers. They are forever renting. The value is in ownership. If you own some toys, maybe a few of them will become valuable over time.

I found this chart, even though two years old, looks like its not dolls or action figures taking the brunt of sales drop... more like board games, puzzles, etc.

True test of ownership is that you can sell it, good luck selling your digital collection lol since most are not transferable. Poor kids dont understand this i try so hard to explain it to my son, i try to get him to buy toys and give him **** when he choses to spend money on vbucks

Back in the good ole days you could sell WoW accounts and or Star Wars Galaxies accounts on ebay, i made 5k selling one but that was a long time ago before companies added rules to prevent this. It still can be done but its much harder To do. And Honestly even though i made 5k it was alot of hours of gaming the hourly wage I made was peanuts lol

As the ideal of ownership dies, so too does the ideal of Capitalism. Perhaps that's one of the many reasons we're seeing so many changes in government right now. Perhaps a more socialist state will be the inevitable outcome for generations uninterested in ownership. They want everything made available to them without the responsibility of ownership.
