I mean it’s great if they didn’t self congratulate themselves on such a minor achievement in such a big way by calling it ‘historic.’

He is a very weak and uninteresting character who is literally a janitor and follows around the white girl he barely knows but wants to protect for some reason. Then he constantly gets his ass kicked in the first movie . He’s a very horrible character. For trying to be diverse they didn’t think his character through.

I was more disturbed by the fact he didn't strike me as someone who'd been trained as a Stormtrooper since birth. He seemed too normal and well-adjusted.

But then Lil' Ani didn't strike me as a downtrodden slave either...

Lol I love how that’s the go to. No one had a problem with Leia or Padme or even more recently Jyn. If Rey was Ray people would still have a problem with him being a Gary Stu.

And if they’re going to be so celebratory they should give a woman a real movie, then talk about ‘making history.’

I was just reading that while female and non white directors have increased by a sliver of a % the wall street financiers who write the checks are 99% white males lol

That’s why BP makes me laugh.

Hell that’s why BP made those white male wall street financiers laugh..all the way to the bank that is.

The whole movement at the ground level is just so silly no one is oblivious to who’s really in control.

Hollywood's self congratulations make me laugh though.

Oh come on give her some credit. She directed an urban family drama that nobody heard of in 2011 as well as a single episode of Grey's Anatomy. Such credentials show that she is perfectly suited to direct practical stunts in a Star Wars film.

I am not even defending the choice.. Everything about her resume says she should not be allowed to be near an action set.. But Man I thought the same thing when the Russo's were announced.. I thought for sure Marvel studios just did not care anymore after that announcement.. Who knows maybe they didn't and just got lucky. ​

But how would a female or non white director EVER have the right credentials approved by JAWS and Rorywan to direct an action movie if they have never been given a chance to do so?

It has to start somewhere, no?

NO SORRY you never did one before because WE NEVER LET YOU DIRECT ONE BEFORE!

Sorry we can’t hire you because you didn’t direct Predator, Die Hard, Raiders, Aliens, T2, Robocop, Rambo, Rocky, French Connection, Star Wars or Conan the Barbarian.
