Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

But how would a female or non white director EVER have the right credentials approved by JAWS and Rorywan to direct an action movie if they have never been given a chance to do so?

It has to start somewhere, no?

NO SORRY you never did one before because WE NEVER LET YOU DIRECT ONE BEFORE!

Good point. Russo's got the same shot and they got a much bigger shot with being head writer's and directors

At the same time this comes across as a publicity stunt when you pat yourself on the back like they did.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Damn yeah he did. Okay I totally yield to JAWS' awesome defense of a Star Wars Sequel Trilogy filmmaking choice, lol. :bow

:lol

Hey.. Perhaps making a Russo move will save this mess called the ST... I have no confidence in JJ so maybe some nobody can help turn it around :)

Maybe we will get a memorable Action scene in the new movie

It's annoying to be sure but in fairness it was Ava Duvernay (Wrinkle in Time director) who tweeted the news not someone from LFL. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they do all officially pat themselves on the back though.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I agree I wish Hollywood could be more like our President and not publicly pat themselves on the back for every little thing.

Sorry we can’t hire you because you didn’t direct Predator, Die Hard, Raiders, Aliens, T2, Robocop, Rambo, Rocky, French Connection, Star Wars or Conan the Barbarian.

That goes for any director who has not had a shot at directing an action film.. Regardless of race or Gender. Hence my point about the Russo's.

No, you get hired because you are the best person for the job.
Hiring someone just based on race or sex or both is no way related to equality, quite the opposite.
I will write a much longer and no doubt boring explanation why this is all kinds of wrong tomorrow.
But to summarize, it starts with film school, before meandering through years of doing ****** PA work before getting a break to be an assistant director or runner. You earn the position. Then you do something wonderful, a short or a movie pitch - you earn your stripes.

True BUT even then go down the list of directors since 1940 of all genres then come back with your findings lol

That is if they hired her because of that... Perhaps she was the best person for the job..

How would you know if a female is right or not for the job if the door to that job has never been open for them?

Are you saying that females HAVE NEVER been right for the action job since 1940?

She is a Disney director who was in the runnng for SW- before she was slated for ‘Wrinkle’.
She then took a step back and said she had no interest in SW.
So still part of the same team.

Huh.. Wha... How is this getting so political

For the record I thought the tweet was from JJ.. SO not as much of a pat as I thought.

I could but I wont
:lol

How many of them just come from Directing comedy TV shows, tiny movies, or bad comedy movies and then get BIG action films??

Perhaps the list is longer then I realize..

Maybe there are more being allowed to take over multimillion dollar franchises then I realize.
