Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Last year, Mark Hamill expressed disagreement with Luke’s character, and Rian responded with, “We have to stop thinking about what the fans want. We have to focus on what we want.”

Have to admit, the mark of a true artist is doing what *you* want, not what you think is expected or desired. I’ve always defended Lucas for doing the same, and more recently Snyder.

Lucasfilm Story Group revealed to be full of unqualified Hollywood failures and hacks. Some of them have no experience at all.

As for watching future SW films, I won't be rewarding Lucasfilm's vandalism. That's why we can't have nice things.

Vaultboy, if you're going to post endless videos -- for the rest of time -- can you at least include the link as well.

this is NOT an original movie

This is NOT even the first of a trilogy.

JJ already set up the tone, JJ already set up the questions to be answered, JJ already set up the characters motivations and their connections

This idiot Baby Rian was supposed to to and complete part of the story, come in and continue what JJ STARTED..... he came to work on a project that already had a beginning and a project that had OTHER people that were going to work on it as well.

your explanation doesnt hold up. what idiot Rian said was disrespectful.

Its like if i get hired to work on a sequel to jurassic world but I introduce aliens and UFOs and i introduce time travel into a dinosaur movie.... who in the hell would be okay with that?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

With this assumption you can no longer use the amount of $$$ TLJ made as "proof" that it's a quality film.

For me to "no longer" say something that means I would have had to have actually said it in the first place. I see that your reading comprehension is as off the mark as your taste in films. ;)

Yep and that's another reason that I at least *respect* TPM the most of the PT. It is just so unabashedly George's vision, for better and worse, a film that he made without any thought of fan backlash or anyone to appease but himself. I've never doubted for one second that AOTC was in part his attempt to "make up" for TPM, replacing Jar Jar with a Boba Fett clone (literally) and removing all talk of midichlorians and whatnot. Of course the sad irony would play out that the prequel with the most fan friendly elements (Fett, first appearance of adult Anakin, clonetroopers and the beginning of the Clone Wars, tons of Jedi lighting up their sabers, some revealing skin on a hot chick, etc.) was by far the worst overall film.

It's never good if a director has outright contempt for the fans but he needs to trust his own instincts first and foremost, no one else's.

I could Wakanda that.

No because I'm about done venting about these films. Washing my hands and sticking to what I actually like. I've said my peace:

Off the top.

Yo moma jokes in a galaxy far far away. A space chase (that was central to the plot btw) that could've been solved by having a Star Destroyer lightspeed ahead of the Raddus. General Hux shooting at the abandoned base instead of the escaping Raddus with the Resistance leaders on board. The weight of ships somehow effecting their speed capabilities when it doesn't.

Admiral Ackbar being killed off like he was a nobody and just so RJ could replace him with Admiral Gender Studies.

Admiral Gender Studies emasculating Poe. Gender Studies being able to destroy the Supremecy by crashing the Raddus into it at lightspeed. A lore breaking plot hole.

Ghost Yoda destroying the ancient tree with a lightning bolt.

Diversity hire Rose Tico. Nuff said.

Finn being reduced to a racist stereotype.

The entire pointless Canto Bight subplot.

Killing off Snoke in a way he shouldve saw coming and like he wasnt all that important to the story. Just for the sake of "subverting expectations".

Untrained Liea Poppins in space. Liea automatically siding with Gender Studies against Poe before knowing the situation.

Emo Ren's motivations for turning to the Dark Side being less than compelling. Note Anakin's turn in comparison. Emo being overwhelmed by Snoke's guards when he couldve just froze them in place. Emo going shirtless for the sole purpose of pandering to a female audience.

Rey being untrained. Rey mastering the Force in seconds by Force Downloading Snoke's training from Kylo Ren, as retconned in the novel.

Rey and Kylo supposedly being a new more powerful breed of Force Sensitives, in direct contradiction to what was established in TFA i.e. Kylo acknowledging that he's not as powerful as Darth Vader and therefore Luke Skywalker as well.

Luke wearing ceremonial Jedi robes long after he had give up the Jedi ways. Luke breast feeding from an alien creature with humanoid nipples. Luke nearly murdering his nephew in his sleep, as his first reaction to realizing that Kylo was having evil thoughts (in direct contradiction to what is shown in the OT). Luke as a deadbeat who abandoned his family and friends when they needed him most (also in direct contradiction). Luke not mourning Han's death, even for a second. Luke not having a legit action part. Luke dying like a punk.

Thankfully Rian didn’t suck. :yess:

Nonethless I don’t care about art because the true measure of quality is box office performance at least that’s my and Khev’s ideology.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I went to the DisneyStore in Times Square NY yesterday and all of the Star Wars toys were buy 1 get 1 free. Evryting except the legos of course. They a huge display of the elite metal series just sitting there not even touched. The sale had been going on for a few days now. I looked at all of those figures and saw that it was all human figures from a movie where no interesting characters were introduced. Say what you will about Lucas and the prequels, there were new characters that made you want to buy toys. THese last two films have only offered what 3 maybe 4 new characters?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

jye: “It’s going to be rough pal I didn’t want to speak for you”

Khev: “grunts and snorts”

jye: “That’s one”

Darthrazz turns to jye with a surprised look: “jye, count me in”

rushmore walks into the room surprising everyone: “I’m with you too”

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Well for the millionth time if you want perfect SW where 100% of the characters connected and became instant toy purchases then you stick to SW/ESB because ROTJ forward there are characters that didn’t work in every film.

Sucks right having only 2 perfect SW movies.

Then when you factor in that your lord and savior Lucas polluted the only 2 perfect movies with questionable SE additions then you’re left with ZERO perfect SW movies so how about them apples lol

The ESB SE is the least offensive, sweet mercy. I would re-delete the scene of Vader returning to the Executor from Cloud City - it was unnecessary and disturbed the flow of that whole escape sequence - but at least it wasn't an embarrassing scene. He didn't shout ''noooo'', it isn't dated by 90s CGI etc.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

From a visual standpoint I 100% agree with you but changing Fett’s voice tantamounts to a crime against humanity lol

It’s as offensive sonically as any of the other myriad of visual alterations from the SE and definately more offensive to me than any female characters from TLJ.

Now that is something to truly be offended by NOT big nose ladies.

Messing with the OT is much worse than easily ignoring ST if one so chooses cough a-dev cough. :lol

Yes messing with the OT was absolutely more unforgivable than any missteps in the ST. I can't believe some of you still watch the SE's when there are fan restored theatrical editions readily available. I will *never* listen to Fett's dorky SE voice ever again.

Yep "I hope they make a Mon Mothma figure!" said no kid in 1983, lol.

However I would go so far as to say that RO is the third "perfect" SW movie as both a film and with regard to toy appeal.
