Both actors were great, but the Tarkin character was like ANH itself: clear, concise, and universally understood. Dooku was too much like the whole PT: convoluted, contrived, and ultimately too empty to merit much respect or have lasting resonance.

The OT was simple for a simpler time, the PT was more complicated for a more complicated time. I loved Palpatine's and Padme's duality, but was frustrated that other ambiguities went unexplained: Was Dooku really working to bring down Sidious from within? Did Qui-Gon have any involvement? Who was Sifo-Dias, anyway? And did Plagueis really create Anakin?

Some might say the audience can make of it what they want, but I need resolution dammit! Were there ever any clues in the novelisations?

Remind me where you stand on Solo? I can't remember if your avatar is ironic or not, lol.

Solo might be my favorite Dis Wars movie.

I love the characters in TFA but struggle with what TLJ did/didn’t do with them so the “saga” portion is still processing.

I think there is perfection to be found in combining the strengths of Solo with the strengths of Rogue One. The so-called “troubled” gestations have birthed the cutest babies.

Perhaps they need a Directors Group more than a Story Group.

No offense if you have not met anyone who liked it the odds are you don’t know alot of people.

He is not the only person, he is not even the only person on this board.
I understand the passion with which the haters have for this film, but reality is not everyone.

I will assume are blissfully unaware of the reality that this film was more like 50/50. Or that you are intentionally unaware. If its that latter , here is a few examples of the reality of the reviews.

Do MOST people like it ? No , that would imply greater than 50 percent......

Sorry Jye, that wasn’t my intention at all. It’s not that you guys didn’t *get* it, it’s just you didn’t think it worked. And you’re in the majority (for fans of a certain age, at least).

Just pointing out once again that the OT had little precedent, whereas the PT had to compete with not only the OT but every movie since. For instance the Coruscant chase in AOTC would have been mind-blowing if not for BR and Fifth Element.

You may also notice that despite my defence of the PT I still rate it below the OT and even most of the ST.

I still admire the AOTC car chase. The real problem with the PT is the horrendous scripting. Anyone below Ewan Mcgregor charisma cannot deliver that dreck with anything approaching naturalism.

Yeah. It's kind of crushing that we won't ever get to see any more ongoing adventures of Alden Solo and company but at least young Han will always end on a high note and there's no chance of some other director taking over and "subverting expectations." And I can definitely see why someone who was put off by TLJ would be inclined to just ignore TFA as well. I really wonder how critics of TLJ will take the ST if Abrams delivers a solid Episode IX. Will you just ignore it the way I do with AOTC and ROTS and just have TFA "skip" to IX?

I actually thought that Liam Neeson did the best with the material that was given to him. His little "ha ha, yeah well **** you too" smile and nod that he gives to Watto after Watto mocks him for not having enough credits cracks me up every time, lol.

Because every maker shows 4-5/10 people didn’t hate the film? If every single person you know hated it, then mathematically you need get to know at least 40-60% more type of folks....

Just look at what has been released in our lifetime (GF1 and Exorcist are the only two that predate me though my first viewing of Exorcist was still in the theater.) What a thing of absolute beauty.

And that's not counting the other genre event films and/or game changers you didn't list like JP 1, Matrix 1, BR/BR2049, A24, etc.
