Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

LOTR trilogy EQUALED the greatness of the OT ..however the culture is different these days to negate the timeless appeal aspect of OT- nothing like it ever had been done.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I love LOTR as well, and after it came out for awhile I was torn as to which I would say was my favorite all time trilogy. LOTR or the SW OT. But SW is timeless, and affected me for some reason in a way LOTR never could (my age perhaps, I was 5 in 1977 and an adult in 2001) and made me want to collect so much memorabilia. Not so with LOTR. The only thing I ever bought was the MR Sting sword replica, and on super cheap clearance at TRU.

LOTR was also a previous well know and popular series. Star Wars was an unknown that captivated an audience that weren't even Scifi fans.

Just look at what has been released in our lifetime (GF1 and Exorcist are the only two that predate me though my first viewing of Exorcist was still in the theater.) What a thing of absolute beauty.

And that's not counting the other genre event films and/or game changers you didn't list like JP 1, Matrix 1, BR/BR2049, A24, etc.

Oh did I forget a few :lol

Airplane, Animal House, History of the World Part 1, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller Day Off, Back to the Future, Beverly Hills Cop, Weird Science, Breakfast Club, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Trading Places, Revenge of the Nerds, Police Academy 1, Big, Basic Instinct, Lethal Weapon, Starship Troopers, Total Recall, Friday the 13th 2/3/4, Nightmare on Elm Street, Fright Night, The Blob, Day of the Dead, The Howling, American Werewolf in London, Toxic Avenger, The Rock, Bad Boys 1 and 2, Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Air Force 1, Out for Justice, Under Siege, The Matrix, Jurassic Park, Meatballs, Every Which Way But Loose, Dirty Harry Sudden Impact, Unforgiven, Fugitive, ET, Gremlins 1 and 2, Stand by Me, Top Gun, Blade Runner, Lost Boys, A Christmas Story, Platoon, Day of the Dead, First Blood, Rambo, Beetlejuice, Bachelor Party, Escape from NY, Smokey and the Bandit, Spiderman 1 and 2, Blade 1 and 2, Batman Returns, Braveheart.

Care to guess which 3 before I burn?

Its not really hate...just don’t like or don’t get the fan love

I can’t handle the answer. :lol

Be very careful Xipotec. My avatar is looking at you

:lol :lol :lol

I could say that about so many of the things he listed.

Logan
Rocky 3-4

Could add Commando to that as well.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Fair enough especially with Rocky 4 :lol

But with Rocky 3 I easily put Clubber in a top 20 villain list.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I love Rocky IV, it's like an MCU movie and Drago is his Iron Monger, Abomination or Killmonger, lol. It's also the only Rocky flick I've ever seen on the big screen (unless you want to count Creed.)

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

After Rocky, we really didn’t need another one.

Rocky 2 is Rocky 1 with the ending everyone wanted.

Honestly always felt Rocky 3 was terrible. Its Apollos story from Rocky 2. Clubber Lang is a cartoon villain....whos evil is what? Wanting to be champion? Not sure I ever understood why he was a bad guy...

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Well I don't know that anyone would call Clubber Lang "evil" but he is the primary antagonist nonetheless and hella fun to root against.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Rock 1 and 2 were great movies. Rocky 3 and 4 were so bad that they were good. Every Rocky fans guilty pleasure is admitting they liked 3 and 4. Thunderlips rules.

The only real truth is Rocky 5 was awful. There's no defending that movie. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

*raises hand*

I actually thought it was alright apart from a couple of things here and there

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

ROTFL

Again, you must not understand percent and odds.....

Because every maker shows 4-5/10 people didn’t hate the film? If every single person you know hated it, then mathematically you need get to know at least 40-60% more type of folks....

;)

You're over thinking something so simple. :lol I understand percent and odds, you must try to understand that not every person someone encounters is going to talk about whether or not they liked the last Jedi lmfao. I just said that everyone I happened to talk about the last Jedi with, said they didn't like it.

Female Star Wars fans explain why they don't care for MaRey Sue.

According to Felicity Jones, Rey is an insert or wish fulfillment of Kathleen Kennedy and her Story Group:

The reason Rey is strong and technically capable and compassionate and driven is that the women [in the Story Group], including Kathy, reflect those qualities. Kathy has given women the kind of roles they've always dreamed of.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/n...-executive-team-more-50-percent-female-953156

More on the Story Group:

Kathleen Kennedy founded the group in 2012 when she succeeded George Lucas as president of Lucasfilm, putting Kiri Hart, a former film and TV writer, in charge of the unit. Ms. Hart’s first move was to make the story group entirely female.

All with little to no credits to their names.

as psychological insight to the person who wasted all that time making a video about such a ridiculous subject.....

yes.

If I go into your history on this topic what am I gonna find? Which way does your bias go? Defending Rey? Arguing how she's not a Mary Sue?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I would rather not debate at all at this point. I have said my piece. That I believe she does not perform anything more miraculous than Luke did.

You can read my comments however far back you care to.

I certainly am not going to take the hours and hours is takes to make videos about the subject and post them on some blog somewhere.....because I have a job and a life.

Its interesting to me however that there are still people who have the time to keep pushing the cart of the anti Disney SW crowd. Seems a waste of time to spend hours and hours on something you claim to hate. But we all know they make money on the views of those opinion videos, and that the anti-TLJ anti Disney, Anti SJW crowd eat them up. So they continue to make them to keep the fires stoked, and their bank accounts full.

But I shouldnt pick on just them.....Youtube is full of crap from both sides of every topic, designed to keep each side angry and hitting the like and subscribe button.

Oh please. Every time I poke my head in you're here. Not saying there's anything wrong with that. Just stop man.

yes.

It adds flavor to the discussion. It’s only been the same 4 people in this thread talking about how great the movie is.
