Well....

you do bring up a great point.

But more screen time for Luke = less screen time for Rose.

WIN!

This we all can agree on....

But nothing will ever be worse than Jar Jar....

I'd actually argue that Rose is a much worse character than Jar Jar. Sure, he's annoying as heck and intended for the kids watching which is why we all despise him. But at least he actually serves a purpose and even has a bit of character development. Rose is just a self righteous waste of space. She is the worst character in the Saga for me. And thanks to a few dicks in the real world bullying the real life actor who played her, we'll probably see lots more of her now.... Errrgh.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Actually for the same reasons Luke did what he did.....

The be a symbol....using a droid would save her life yes, but not a very effective sacrific.

Are you serious? Sacrificing her life was for some sort of obscure symbolism? Luke's Skype call was a symbol of what?

Oh no we’re back to the ridiculous “could’ve should’ve would’ve” in SW again lol

Ok sure I enjoy those.

Droids should’ve done every action a human character did in every movie then.

Strawman. Think a droid vs Darth Vader. Boba Fett vs IG-88. A droid flying the Falcon instead of Han. There are some talents that cant be replicated.

Admiral Ozzell should’ve been less clumsy and stupid lol

C’mon everybody lets rewrite the OT shall we!

Wampa shouldn’t try to eat Jedis!

C'mon, Ozzell being a bad officer is different from Holdo's suicide...

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Come on guys Vault Boy is obviously trolling us. How else could an abandoned ship continue in a straight line through open space without someone sitting at the controls, duh!

lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

A captain (an admiral in this case) goes down with the ship. It's a universally-understood sign of responsibility.

Did anyone have a problem with the captain of one of the other Resistance vessels (who we saw on screen get destroyed with his ship) staying on board after his crew evacuated? In Holdo's case, it was even more poignant since having someone else pilot it (even a droid) would have been cowardly of a ship's captain/admiral who made the decision to abandon ship. It's protocol; and, yes, it's also symbolic. Not just for Holdo, but for all ship leaders.

I swear, I'm more and more thankful every day that the internet wasn't around when the OT was released. The incessant (and often void of any intellectual merit) complaints and "would've, could've, should've" would have driven me crazy.

I would watch an entire 2 hour Star Wars movie starring the great Jar Jar Binks, before I would even watch a short compilation film of all of Roses scenes edited together!!!

Yes, a Captain who commands his own vessel, and generally commissioned on it for some time. They take pride and ownership of the vessel, it's crew, and what it represents.

Holdo was a guest for what, a few hours? On someone else's ship and commanding someone else's crew. And once Leia was awake, technically she was no longer in command.

But Holdo was in charge when the decision to abandon/evacuate the ship was made; she's the one who made it. Asking someone else to pilot it (again, even a droid- but especially Leia) and go down with the ship would have been cowardly and wrong. That's not how selfless leadership gets conveyed.

And I bet if they had Holdo turn over the piloting to a droid, then people would complain about her cowardice. She made the call, came up with the plan, and went down with the ship she ordered to be abandoned. I don't see how that doesn't make sense, but whatever.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Should have been Ackbar and Leia going out together like Thelma & Louise, lol.

:lol

Or have Leia shut herself behind an airlock and tell Holdo: "I have been, and always shall be . . . your friend" Then she puts hand to glass as Holdo has to be dragged away. :lol
