Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I’ve been a Star Wars fan since 77, and although I’ve found some of these films both hit and miss after the OT I’ve realized that the powers that be managing Star Wars are going to do what they want regardless of of my feelings or monetary support. KK is doing what she thinks is a good direction for the franchise and although I think she’s missed the mark more than hit it I’m sure sooner or later Disney higher ups will see where the brand is heading and try to fix their 4 billion dollar investment.

Disney/Marvel just made over 4 billion theatrically from just 3 movies in a 7 month window not including streaming or disc sales. :lol

So lets say they keep half, 2 billion from just 3 movies theatrically.

They’re half way there with just 3 movies. :lol

Hold on Brie Larson didn’t smile my manhood is under emasculation assault lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I'm much less interested in behind-the-scenes and just want to see the finished products.

TLJ was the smoothest production and my least favorite movie of New SW. :dunno

The best films often live by the adage "the best idea wins, no matter who thought of it." And that definitely seems to hold true for Solo. That movie sounded like a disaster behind the scenes but reading Jon Kasdan's tweets Lord & Miller did really seem to change some things for the better. Kasdan had the movie open with a foot chase but L&M changed it to speeders to allow for a more direct evolution into space ships. It was also their idea to make the first Sabacc game take place in what looked like a hunting lodge which looked fantastic. When Howard came aboard he didn't **** can everything they contributed, he kept their best stuff and then added his own.

The only conflict with TLJ was Hamill's arguments with Johnson but there was no cherry-picking of best ideas, Johnson simply got his way every single time. I know he said that BDT got to change some of his lines (when Finn said "you're wrong" he was supposed to reply with "better rich than right" but ad-libbed "maybe" instead) but that seems to have been it.

I know that the prevailing rumor is that one-off movies are on hold but what else is there now that the Sequel Saga is nearly wrapped?

Surely the RJ Trilogy has gone the way of the SNIKT SpideRveRse, right?

Are those hard R's? :rotfl

It was interesting that Bob Iger only mentioned Episode IX and the films that the Game of Thrones guys are making in his interview yesterday and nothing about the RJ trilogy that they were previously so excited about...

SUCH a missed opportunity in the new Predator movie to not have Wilford Brimley come out of the capsule at the end, lol.

I haven't seen it but that might be the ultimate spoiler. I can't go into it without seeing the Brimley sized hole. :(

You might want to do yourself a favor and just theater hop in for the first hour and leave when the new CG Predator shows up, lol.

Holy crap lol

And then cut to the *other* kid now working for the government, Ralphie from A Christmas Story, who says "That's it? A crummy commerical!?" And then all these cool IM3 closing credit graphics but with nothing but images of Brimley and Ralphie.

Was the Brie Larson never smiling complaint part of the whole anti-feminism thing? Maybe I'm forgetting how that was brought up but is that not just a criticism of the actress's range?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yeah someone already claimed that the reason she wasn't smiling was to make her less sexy to evil men. :cuckoo:

I can just picture some of these guys standing at ATM machines at night nervously looking over their shoulders to see if feminism is sneaking up behind them.
