An interesting article:

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, RUSSIAN TROLLS, AND THE DISINTEGRATION OF DISCOURSE

https://www.wired.com/story/star-wars-russian-trolls-study/?mbid=social_fb

It’s already been discredited. Just read the actual study and how he got his numbers and the parameters he used to do it, nothing is based on actual science. He could only positively identify about 10 bots out of thousands, then said similar posters were also bots. And he just arbitrarily decided they were russian based on the 2016 election, didn’t do any IP traces or anything.

I wish Rian didn’t share it so all the media could just ignore it. Let people focus on Ep 9 if you want those who didn’t like it going in with good vibes. He needs to stop being so insecure and defensive, let people move on (because without the constant opposition of a big name Hollywood director fueling them, they would have gotten bored and stopped by now), and just drop it. Lucasfilm needs to muzzle him.

Ah, should’ve researched more!

''There are heroes on both sides''

Why did George write that? What heroes on the separatist side? Certainly none that I remember seeing in any of the films. Weird line to put in there.

It also said "Evil is everywhere".

It means that in war, heroes and villains depend whose side you're on. Nazis thought they were doing the right thing.

I really can't wait until Episode IX comes out. Even if everyone around here hates it (which most will), at least maybe it will cause people to stop rambling on about TLJ. I'm so beyond sick of hearing about it at this point.

Then they will ramble about that film...

The internet is about bitching now...

Yep, EpIX will continue the "ramblings". Those that like it will say how it reaffirms how great TLJ was, those that don't will either now finally see the light that TLJ does suck, or will be mad that EPIX has now ruined TLJ for them... :lol

But just maybe the bitching won't be as bad as you think, as many fans continue to say FU to Disney by refusing to even see EPIX and instead want to just sit on the sidelines and watch it all burn down. Let the Box Office numbers speak for itself. Especially if it fails to break a billion like some are predicting, and gets a thrashing by fan scores on RT like TLJ did.

I'd like to see how that scenario gets spun by Disney, the media, and of course the defenders / sympathizers.. Star Wars fatigue again? Man Babies still crying? Russian bots still trying to cause turmoil? Or, will reality set in and make believers of those that refuse to admit how many fans were truly let down by RJ's TLJ and that it did indeed cause harm to the franchise... As seen by Solo's recent BO disappointment.

But don't blame the internet. That's all on social media. The internet was around long before MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and whatever else I am missing. Those are the platforms that gave people voices and the courage to speak out. Social Media is the real evil, not the internet...:)

LOL :lol

I've always wondered what is it about the internet that causes grown adults to go bat**** crazy, become Keyboard Kommandos and say/post some of the craziest and insulting things?

As a fan and defender of TLJ, I can tell you right now that if Ep9 doesn't break $1 billion there'll be no doubt in my mind that TLJ did major harm to the franchise. Zero doubt, and zero excuses from me.

Not gonna happen, though. Ep9 will do phenomenally well. ;)

As for Solo's box office . . . after having seen it for the first time a few days ago, I think the box office totals were right where they should be.

I think it's basically because of the anonymity and not having to face immediate ramifications. It's easier to act like a tough guy when they don't have to worry about getting their sorry self smacked in the face.

You point is valid.....like any technology, it can be used for good or evil....

I for one LOVE the great places of the internet. Places that are not social media, shopping or viral videos.

And of course my dolly discussion.

And of course when I am doing evil...

As a 47 year old fan who loved TLJ, I’m kinda dreading the release of Episode IX. Not the movie itself, I’m sure they will pull out all the stops and I’m curious to see how they wrap it up. It will be the “discussion” around it by rabid haters/supporters. I stopped using Facebook because of what would show up in my feed (Star Wars/politics etc) that I didn’t need in my life, but I know this crap will still pop up because internet/social media.

Great post. Honestly , I gave up almost all my social media because all of it is a fight....non stop pick a side type posts...

This place can be like that alot, its been better lately.

All a guy of 46 wants now is a little peace and quiet, some fun and memories to be made...

Leave the conflict, drama and angst to the younger set.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

My top 5 most anticipated movies for 2019 remain IW2/IX/LionKing/CaptMarvel/Godzilla2

Everything else comes after those and there are plenty in 2019!

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Rumor is that
Ewan and Hayden reshot an entire new reworked lightsaber fight for the flashback scene on a real mountain with real lava but toned down lava not that ROTS silliness
