Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Guys you never going to convince the people who hate this film to their manly core that other people actually like it....

They clearly do not understand simple percent.

Almost all of the reviews from moviegoers show a 50/50 spread. If people think 50/50 is most or majority they do not understand math.

The passion people hate this film with is unnatural. Folk really believe that the film somehow destroyed them personally , which is a crazy notion. Its really was over the top , but so are many SW fans. You can easily tell an unhinged fan reading the “reviews” that give it a 1 or a 0......thats someone who has lost all objectivity and rationality.

Say what you want about characterizations or plot, but if your really objective, you couldnt give this film anything less than a 2-3 based on the filming , acting, and cinematography alone.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

I know people liked it. Doesn’t make it a good film . Yes . It was the best looking Star Wars film and yes some of the acting was done well.

I just simply don’t like it. It did t threaten my existence or destroy my life tho. Star Wars is a vast universe that grows each time.

I learned recently that if you wait long enough with some things you’ll get what you want.

At least the ratio of conversation to paranoid flagellation has greatly improved. It makes the video assaults almost charming.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Video dropped 4 hours ago. On the topic of the Postmodern deconstruction of Star Wars. The view is that the heroes journey is a decadent concept. There is no good or evil or objective truth. Morality is a social construct.

Every morning when you wake up do you say "time to post the videos" like the Dunkin Donuts guy? ;)

One could just as easily say the same thing about the people that love this film. Their passion is just as unnatural. They too have lost all sense of logic.

I've never seen people defend something to no end as with TLJ. To the point that they have to try to insult, demean and belittle the people that didn't like it. Almost to the point of bullying... Even the attacks from the media, some SW employees and RJ himself are crazy..

Many defenders on these forums were more insulting to those that disliked it than the reverse. How many on both sides (liked/disliked) got banned from SSF for discussing/arguing about TLJ??

Crazy indeed.... :cuckoo: .......... :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Holy crap Vault Boy how did you miss posting this, it's freaking hilarious:

RJ totally turned Rey and Luke into Moana and Maui, lol.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

What if I told you my life has been fully uneffected by Kennedy and Rian attempt at trying to castrate and emasculate me.

What if I told you that I would never rate the PT or ST higher than ANH/ESB.

What if I told you that your lord and savior Lucas chose Kennedy.

What if I told you that Lucas is doing more damage and harm to SW than Kennedy by refusing to release the historic unaltered versions.

What if I reminded you that there is a hardcore right wing populist nationalist christian group in full control of the most powerful nation in the world we’re talking real power here yet you’re having a complete 24/7/365 paranoid fueled meltdown obsession over a silly sci-fi movie with their fake pews pews as if that’s going to affect the world order.

What if I told you that valium is cheap now you should try it lol

There are unreasonable people on both sides, but the level of hate and vitriol for TLJ is something I've never seen before regarding a movie. When it comes to an "unnatural" level of unshakably passionate anger, I don't think there's anything close to equity between the two sides. The hate side is often so closed off from even tolerating an opposing opinion that I've just about given up trying to understand why.

Disliking any movie is perfectly fine, but refusing to acknowledge what other people love about it is just . . . weird. I read posts here sometimes that make it seem like people can't accept that most critics, and a lot of fans, found TLJ to be not only really good - but absolutely outstanding. It's a willful denial that I can't remember ever happening with any other movie before.

I get that people strongly dislike it - I have no problem with that. There are plenty of movies that I strongly dislike too. But when I dislike a movie that has been praised by the vast majority of people who make a living scrutinizing films, I don't pretend to myself that my opinion is more informed, or that it represents any factual truth. It's merely my opinion; that's it. With TLJ, it seems that a lot of people who post criticisms of it flatly refuse to acknowledge that there are rational and intelligent film enthusiasts/fans who see it completely differently.

I enjoy reading critiques and criticisms of TLJ. I enjoy back-and-forth debates on the merits of the film. I've been a SW fan since right after ESB was in theaters, and I was 4 years old. It's a movie franchise that I've loved and followed like no other (not even a close second). I don't feel like the storytellers owe me anything other than putting a lot of effort into producing a high-quality product where the acting, dialogue, and film-making techniques are of the highest standards.

The story can't always be what I want (nor should it be), but I have a much easier time accepting it when it's presented with high artistic merit. That was my TFA and TLJ experience. I'm hoping for the same from Episode IX. I wish this was a more common feeling among fans, but I really don't think I'll ever be able to comprehend the level of hate and willfully dismissive attitude that I've seen from a lot of the anti-TLJ fans.

I still hate that some got banned for disliking and challenging some people over this movie. They weren’t that many heated debates

Who are these poor innocents that were banned for daring to express thier opinion?

I don't remember who exactly, but several people got banned. Some temporary, some permanent. The original thread was cleaned and purged many times, closed temporarily a few times, then permanently closed.

Good times... :rotfl

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yeah the notion that anyone has ever gotten banned for no other reason than simply giving a movie a negative review is pretty ridiculous but it definitely hasn't stopped some people from repeatedly stating it as fact.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

:lol :lol

Why haven't Junkion, JAWS, Wor-Gar, loki, etc., been banned? They don't like TLJ. Oh yeah, they're also normal guys capable of being cool and civil while discussing something that they don't like.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

No one was just banned for not liking something. It was what was said and how it was said even after warnings were given and thread was cleaned.

Some forum members took things too personally. On BOTH sides, and some were getting teamed up on at one time by several members. And then they started to lash back, probably out of anger and frustration, and were probably reported by said multiple members. Most people can only be laughed at and ridiculed for so long. It was ridiculous on both sides. There were probably many others that deserved warnings and maybe even temporary bans that never got them. It was very one sided. It was as if the mods favored those whose side they agreed with. Not being fair...

Like I said, both sides were out of hand. Yet it still seems some people think there views are more justified than their opposites.

Just like politics, no? :dunno

I've learned in life its important to be able get along with everyone.. :)
