So it seems that one of the ways Disney is addressing the TLJ backlash is by having IX be heavily connected with the PT

Are they saying that it was the PT diehards and not the OT purists who attacked TLJ?

Anyways i’m actually all for reinventing PT era characters and arcs under more capable hands.

I was never against the PT characters just the execution and timing of events.

Serious Jar Jar when.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Really?
Where did that info come from?
I like the PT, so it'd be nice to see more connection.

There are 2 distinct camps:

1. Old man Anakin ghost

2. Hayden “youngling killer smirk” ghost

Choose wisely lol

All JJ needs to do is start the Episode IX scroll like this:

"Rose Tico has vanished. In her absence actual tactical progress and HEROISM have risen from the ashes of the Resistance as brave freedom fighters work to destroy the evil that they hate..."

"Rose Tico is gone and never coming back. In her absence actual tactical progress and HEROISM have risen from the ashes of the Resistance as brave freedom fighters work to destroy the evil that they hate..."

Fixed.

The Midichlorians Awaken

A midichlorian walks into a bar...Bartender asks “Hey how many of you does it take to unscrew a lightbulb?”

Midichlorian answers “I don’t know but I bet it’s a whole lot less than it did to screw Shmi”

How awesome would be if they made Rose a double agent saboteur and she was really an evil bastard laugh out loud

Hmm she did pretty much have that "die mother***er!" look on her face right before she crashed into Finn then when she saw that he was alive changed her tune and was all, "uh...I tried to save you...yeah that's it" (pretends to fall into coma to avoid further questioning)

Works for me lol

She was placed into the wrong franchise.

She should’ve been Short Rounds daughter in Indy 5 with his voice.

Repairing the fracture in the SW community by doing callbacks to the trilogy that invented a fractured SW community would be an "interesting" strategy.

I do think some PT elements are essential to reference in the last chapter, though. You shouldn't have the three generations of Skywalkers (Anakin; Luke/Leia; Kylo) make up the crux of the entire saga's main plot without connecting everything together somehow.

Anakin's turn (PT), redemption (OT), and legacy (ST) is what connects all three trilogies. It's all about that little boy conceived by the Force, turning into a man whose destiny of darkness could be redeemed by his twin offspring, and ending with a third generation (a grandson at the very least) who will dictate the lasting legacy of the bloodline.

I hope they bring Qui-Gon back into this too. He was the one who brought Anakin into the Jedi/Sith conflict; he was the one who tried to keep Anakin from slaughtering the Tuskens (sealing his fate); and he was the one who made it possible for Force ghosts to make certain key figures be immortals (thus influencing events throughout the saga).

As long as they bring back these characters I will be HAPPY!

Trevorrow always wanted to bring the three trilogies together. Abrams does too.

Where does that leave Rey? Isn't she supposed to be the main character? Maybe she'll turn out to have a connection after all.

Rey definitely has had the most screen time, but her role is tied directly to Kylo - so I think the two of them essentially share the status of "main ST character." Being a Skywalker wouldn't need to be the only way to justify her role in the Skywalker Saga.

The PT was an Anakin story, but Kenobi was equally prominent in order to have it unfold.

The OT was a Luke/Vader story, but Han didn't exactly get a "secondary" treatment (especially in ESB).

And the ST (in my view) is a Kylo story (with a strong Luke influence), but Rey is equally prominent to advance that story by providing a peer for the protagonist/antagonist dynamic.

Hmmmm, the conclusion of TLJ pretty strongly suggests Rey is the beginning of the next Jedi order (unless that's yet another mistake on Luke's part ;)) Plus under Disney, only females may be main characters. :D

I'm personally hoping for some kind of midichlorian/cloning link to the Skywalkers.
