Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019
There's ... too many of them!
There's ... too many of them!
Really?
Where did that info come from?
I like the PT, so it'd be nice to see more connection.
There are 2 distinct camps:
1. Old man Anakin ghost
2. Hayden “youngling killer smirk” ghost
Choose wisely lol
All JJ needs to do is start the Episode IX scroll like this:
"Rose Tico is gone and never coming back. In her absence actual tactical progress and HEROISM have risen from the ashes of the Resistance as brave freedom fighters work to destroy the evil that they hate..."
The Midichlorians Awaken

how awesome would be if they made Rose a double agent saboteur and she was really an evil bastard laugh out loud
So it seems that one of the ways Disney is addressing the TLJ backlash is by having IX be heavily connected with the PT
Repairing the fracture in the SW community by doing callbacks to the trilogy that invented a fractured SW community would be an "interesting" strategy.
I do think some PT elements are essential to reference in the last chapter, though. You shouldn't have the three generations of Skywalkers (Anakin; Luke/Leia; Kylo) make up the crux of the entire saga's main plot without connecting everything together somehow.
Anakin's turn (PT), redemption (OT), and legacy (ST) is what connects all three trilogies. It's all about that little boy conceived by the Force, turning into a man whose destiny of darkness could be redeemed by his twin offspring, and ending with a third generation (a grandson at the very least) who will dictate the lasting legacy of the bloodline.
I hope they bring Qui-Gon back into this too. He was the one who brought Anakin into the Jedi/Sith conflict; he was the one who tried to keep Anakin from slaughtering the Tuskens (sealing his fate); and he was the one who made it possible for Force ghosts to make certain key figures be immortals (thus influencing events throughout the saga).

Where does that leave Rey? Isn't she supposed to be the main character? Maybe she'll turn out to have a connection after all.
And the ST (in my view) is a Kylo story (with a strong Luke influence), but Rey is equally prominent to advance that story by providing a peer for the protagonist/antagonist dynamic.
