From a recent article....
Szostak replied: “I would say so, yes. I worked on TFA from pretty much the very beginning and was present at the January 16, 2013 meeting at Skywalker Ranch with George Lucas that Christian mentions here (and that is described in greater detail in The Art of The Last Jedi).”
Garcia added: “Well, this puts to bed all of these so-called "arguments" about Rian getting Luke wrong. He followed what George had in mind prior to the release of TFA. Of course, the over-the-top haters will keep living in denial of this fact, but it won't matter.”
Some agreed but other leapt in to clarify it wasn’t Luke’s withdrawal from the world or loss of hope or even his struggle with the Dark Side that angered so many fans, it was that hugely divisive flashback moment shown in the film.

Episode IX opens by repeating TLJ's final scene on Canto Bight. The black kid is showing the other kids how Luke Skywalker's projection stood up to the First Order. The slave owner bursts into the room but this time they have subtitles say "Bull****! That's not how it happened AT ALL! Get out of here!" and the kids scurry out of the room. Cut to Ach-To where Luke, his father's saber in hand, is properly training Rey in the ways of the Force.

It is revealed that Rose is a spy who sells horse meat in the black market.
Also Luke jokingly tossing the saber was also just a fantasy story they will now show Luke accepting the saber with full on Shakespearean gusto lol

Next scene is Canto Bight where we see a bunch of Asians with goatees rounding up the "freed" Fathiers onto their meat processing ship. Cut to Rose in a coma who cracks a slight smile.
