Am I the only one thinking why would they bring back Palapatine now.

Tell me why Abrams wants this :dunno

I get that Snoke is dead ..but why do we need Palapatine at this point . Makes no sense

Honestly the only way that Palapatine can be significant is if he is a ghost or a flashback.

I can never tell your level of sarcasm lolol, what if palpatine was the sith ghost that had a hand with the skywalkers and rey

Now this makes more sense..however I think it’s irrelevant. They can’t end the saga with Rey turning to the dark side :panic:

but why do we need Palapatine at this point .

It's twofold:

1) to sell more toys - more of the same actually

2) because JJ's characters failed to catch on and become iconic, Disney is forced (no pun) to go back to the well every movie - believe me, if everyone loved Snoke, he'd still be the Big Bad

Fact is, Disney cannot recreate the Star Wars universe beyond fleeting glimpses... so they must regurgitate what George has already given us.

Nothing makes sense. They don't even know. They made one movie that took place 30 years after the last film, introduced new characters with vague back stories, then followed that with a sequel that took place a week later, didn't develop any of the news characters and killed the new main villain. At this point, bringing back Palpatine is like when the WWE brings back old wresters because the new guys don't sell tickets.

So it sound like it was because of demographics and not necessarily to the story ..I knew it ..ugh Disney :slap

What was wrong with Snoke..I liked the mystery behind him but I didn’t like how easy he was able to be killed, but your assumption just reiterates what I’ve been saying

Without Vader or Luke , there is no need for the Emperor :lecture

Because TLJ is the only 1.3 billion dollar earner in cinema existence that is considered to be a flop lol

The Guardian, in an article announcing the TROS trailer, seems to disagree:

RO made almost $1.1 billion and was "disappointing." :dunno

They had a real opportunity to do a totally OT-free ST movie with this one (Han's dead, Luke's dead, CF had died,) but... it's "Skywalker" in the title, Lando/Chewy in the flight seats and the return of Palps.:lol

Yeah it is pretty greedy of Disney to bring back OT characters I mean it’s not like 99% of the fan base weren’t begging or anything for OT characters to return to the big screen in a new Star Wars movie especially after the prequel trilogy failed to capture the magic from the OT yeah it’s all Disney’s fault greedy *******s.

So Disney has become Vince McMahon in 2019 :panic:

Then Disney needs a fresh idea that the WWE did right

Yeah, and SW's core audience is kids and it's all about the new generation of fans.:monkey3:lol

A fan responds to a fan service Falcon moment during a Disney SW opening night (and yes he bought his "kids")...:rotfl

Bring on Palps!!!:yess:

There was never going to be a huge “new” generation of SW fans to begin with because 2015 isn’t 1977.

Back then space movies meant Kubrick’s yawn 2001 or you had to go back 3 decades for Earth vs the Flying Saucer.

Today I can watch GOTG on Imax.

Disney knows this but they’re going to go for it anyways.

Why you may ask would Disney do such a silly thing?

I don’t know could it be because they own the biggest freaking MOVIE STUDIO so that’s WHAT THEY DO! lol

OMG look at that jumbo jet airplane pilot he’s he’s PILOTING A JUMBO JET how dare he!

In Disney’s case.... into the ground lol

But whatever they paid 4.5 billion for it they can do what they please with it.

Keep making them EVENTUALLY ONE or TWO will be great shame a few crashed and burned but oh well life is only but controlled chaos that we try to mitigate with stop signs and red lights.

Rogue One will continue to gain a following and be THE Star Wars movie people remember fondly from Disney over the years.

I have no idea how the streaming series will do or how that will impact Star wars as a whole, but I'm looking forward to the Mandalorian much more than Episode Nein.

Sad but true..a brand new kid that never had their parents involve them with SW or knew what SW was about themselves will think that SW is boring compared to what they see in the MCU . :(

Well for instance look at Clown he/she/binary fully admits SW is not his/her/its thing.

That’s his/her/its life who am I to judge.

All I can do is just be grateful every single day that i’m not Clown lol
