Yeah thats OP Vader. I was never a fan of the force doing things like bringing down Star Destroyers and such. There need to be hard limits on their power lest it become ridicules battles which would render and struggle moot. PT was dangerously close to this at times.

(If the Jedi could jump and run as fast as they did, no legion of storm troopers could have gotten the drop on them. They would have “sensed” the change and been able to easily defend themselves or speed away......

I mean in that silly clip, if he can blast that door off its hinges he could just have easily thrown every rebel against a wall and killed him outright.

There needs to be limits.

I guess the limits for jedis we’re getting them all together in one arena and just overwhelming them with mechanical soldiers. Which is pretty stupid if you think about it. With all that force power in one place the Jedi should have just tossed all of those robots aside like they were nothing.

Yeah, I was sitting there going "Since when are Jedi slow/inept enough to get killed by common blaster fire?" Like that guy Jango smoked with zero effort.

Dark Empire Luke was a boss though....he brought down an AT-AT just using the Force. Cause that was the true path his character was supposed to take, not being an unwashed hobo with green alien lactate slopping down his crusty beard.

Dunno, I disagree. Lots of people seem to believe Luke was suppose to be the most powerful Jedi ever.

I never got that from OT.

Well since Luke was supposed to be the resurgence of a new Jedi order you would think he would be open to developing his power as much as he could. With few other force users around he would be the greatest conduit of that power opening him up to almost anything.

True, there's no reason Luke, in his normal human lifespan, should have ended up more powerful than the 900 year old Yoda.

And yet...Yoda and Obi-wan somehow expected him to do singlehandedly (hah, no pun intended) what they could not do 30 years prior. So I dunno.

To give the movie some credit, it does show a Luke more powerful than he was in the OT.

Demolishing the hut, stopping himself from hitting the ground, force projection.

I never got that from OT.

Sums up the characterization of Luke in TLJ.

I always took that as they were manipulating him, well knowing Vader was his father. They hoped that once Anakin was confronted by his son he would have a change of heart....which he did.

Hide him for 20 years, train him to be able to hold his own against Anakin long enough for him to try to stop his vengeful life.

Luke was never said to be the most powerful jedi, just possible powerful due to his bloodline.

Plain ol’ Luke Skywalker hero worship turned the character into a perfect , all
Powerful Jedi master in the years between OT and ST. This was a fantasy built up in alot of fans head cannon which led to the disappointment in the character in ST.

I was never disappointed in the characterization because to me Luke was a Jedi Master, but so were these guys .....
th

Never once did I think any of them could bring down a SD.

The Jedi were mostly punks, taken out by clones.

Lol this is a good point. In the OT the Jedi are described as very powerful but they got killed so easily.

Man they look like SDCC cosplayers. Conehead Ben Kenobi was always a bit of a laugh.

Did they really make u believe a man could fly or did it just look really good back then lol

Both. Some of the FX work in Supes I and II holds up pretty well even today.

I sure did, Yoda literally coined the phrase "size matters not" while actually discussing *moving starships with the Force.*

So I was very happy to see that play out in spectacular fashion in the 2003/4 CW series:

I feel you. The 1990 tmnt movie still holds up and looks better than half the cgi put out today.

Force projection across the galaxy is arguably the greatest power we've seen (and originated in Dark Empire too). Plus we still got to see him take on an AT-AT (even if the lightsabre "duel" was ANH level). I'm all good with TLJ Luke.

In TROS apparently force-ghost Luke takes Death Star III (it's a cube so totally different) and throws it against a FO army (complete with ATATs) that has been force-projected by Kylo.

Then hundreds of force-projected Kylos appear to take on force-ghost Luke and force-ghost Yoda - they respond by force-projecting their ghosts to where the real Kylo is to duel him using their physical world powers.

Rey then takes control of the entire FO fleet and puts them all into hyperspace aimed at the DS III, destroying it and Kylo at the same time, saving Luke's and Yoda's force-ghosts from certain death.

Sounds like a hell of a ST climax.:clap

Hey, this stuff was considered canon for years, so the blame isn't on the fans. We didn't just make up the idea of the all powerful Jedi Grandmaster Luke Skywalker.

Force projection doppelganger!!!

Man who can forget that era between 1984 and 1997 where all we did were read printed stories, use our imaginations and listen to the Daley radio broadcast.

Even while reading all those books during that era I kept thinking what if....what if the future holds a Disney + Mandalorian series .

I dont really consider those stories cannon at all, I never did....

Apparently many feel the same. And they are no longer cannon.

And let be honest, something being called cannon is basically like products saying “New and Improved” .....its just a marketing gimmick to sell stories.

While I can enjoy the extra stories (Like the new Vader comics) its definitely not something I put in the timelines with the films.
