Exclamation points don't always equal anger, but if it makes you happy, go ahead and tell yourself that.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I doubt it. I don't see myself taking part in discussions about further SW films and I have a hunch that many others feel the same. I'm sure the same people that bashed TFA, RO, and TLJ will bach Solo, Episode 9 and everything else. I don't think there's any mystery about what to expect going forward.

Not everyone is lumped into the same group... I was never a PT hater (though there was both good and bad), I love RO, & I enjoyed TFA & was looking forward to what was to come next....

TLJ has in no way effected how I feel about SW in general, especially the OT, RO or even the PT (except maybe actually appreciate them even more). It has however made me less likely enjoy and want to watch TFA anymore knowing what is to come afterwards. It has also made me less excited to see whatever Disney's next SW outing will be. Because of it, I have no anticipation for Solo, and could care less about Ep9.

I blame that spazz guy. He made it out to be bigger than it actually was and kept throwing out these crazy theories. Riled up th thread quite a bit

Ah yes, that lunatic. I still remember my goodbye to him:

Can't say I disagree, lol.

Yeah same bunch who take these MOVIES too seriously- boy wonder what they do when confronted by REAL-life problems- the over-reaction to TLJ is legendary

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I just cannot get into 4K

I just spent like a year digitizing all my discs for my Plex server....

I cant go back to discs....even for 4K.

Until HDD’s get super cheap I am not ready to waste the huge amount of space a 4K needs on a drive...

My friend did the same last year.. He has thousands of movies. Took him probably close to a year as well.

But he has all 4K gear too. I wasn't ready to make the jump to 4k, as his 4k projector looked nice, but not a big enough jump in quality for me. That is until he upgraded his Samsung 55" LED to a LG 65" OLED......

Damn, my mouth dropped after seeing GOTG vol2 in 4k on that TV. Now I want one, but I also have to upgrade my HT receiver and of course buy a 4k BD player...:( I'm not ready to spend $5k (and that's wholesale/dealer prices I get) for the gear I want.

He just keeps out his 4K & 3D discs in a rack but he'll still put the reg blu-ray on his HDD's.

As stated earlier I did enjoy TLJ, but yeah, it removed all anticipation for IX for me too. I'm thinking I could happily jump off the SW juggernaut right now.

I'll still check out IX and Solo out of curiosity.

Is Dave making you a mod? If so:

A mod? I wouldn't even know how to apply.:lol

But yeah wow, I completely forgot about those infractions and had to look up what happened and found the answer: "Failure to agree with a Moderator's personal views and arguing as bitterly as he did." So... that's fair enough.:lecture:monkey3

It's funny that my reputation bar was totally full less than two years after joining - a testament to how I'm viewed by the community here - but that doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is that a Mod and I had an argument, a clash of opinions, and that Mod - as both active combatant and referee in the same argument - then gave infractions, leading to a totally baseless ban.

Kind of undermines the appeal of being a Mod, ya know? I mean... what's gonna happen if I WAS a Mod? I give you infractions for not agreeing with me, you do the same for me, we then ban each other. :lol

Another lame/divisive Star Wars film comes out, you gush, I eye-roll, you go-full-text then get backed into a corner again and pull the infractions, and so it begins again. Kind of the way it is now, so... no need to change up anything really.:dunno:rotfl

How good does digital 4K look compared to a non 4K regular bluray?

Just curious as I was thinking of doing something like this myself.

Clearly a lot of information will be missing in a digi download but I’m wondering how much the resolution bump helps out?

Just becareful with UHD purchases because not all studios allow 4K redemption of the digital copy only HD.

My head hurts just trying to keep up with it lol

I copied and pasted that huge www.thedigitalbits.com breakdown of what to get with a new 4K TV but hell if I remember what thread it was posted in, lol. So that's better, OLED or QLED?

I haven't fully investigated myself, and I should add that iTunes doesn't currently allow you to download 4k, only stream (I think that was on the studios' insistence). You'll need a third-party app to download the file and remove the DRM.

I like streaming in 4K with the digital versions that’s why I get 4K Blu-ray with digital copies . It does make a big difference in streaming with 4K , so much better

While i’ve been absolutely blown away by OLED by no means has OLED ruined LED (Q or otherwise) for me and there are certain movies where I actually prefer the higher nits only capable from a backlit QLED.

Do you have a favorite brand? A lot of folks over at www.hometheaterforum.com seem to lean toward LG (though I've heard they're not very reliable from a QC standpoint.)
