That's one of my favorite sentences I've read in any of these threads. :lol Even though I'd hate clone Rey as the ultimate explanation of her origin, I agree with you about how weird the whole granddaughter thing would be. The explanation for that reveal would have to be really well-thought-out and presented convincingly *in the movie itself* for it to work.

I'm still having a hard time wrapping my mind around Palpatine being alive (if he actually is, rather than spirit or hologram). If that's where this is going, it will again need to be explained in the film itself how he'd survive an exploding Death Star, why he would let the Empire crumble, let a new Republic be established, and play a waiting game of nearly thirty years for a new Empire to rise up and start all over again.

Whatever they do, I just hope they explain everything instead of leaving key exposition to be done in novels/comics/tv.

Rey as granddaughter is kind of funny. It just seems like "well, we've brought Palps back to life, however unlikely that could be, so how can we tie him into this story and also solve this whole irritating 'Rey's family' question? Wait, he IS kinda like a creepy grandpa anyway with the rotten teeth and walking cane...":lol Surely that can't be it.

While you're right about "how did Palps survive the Death Star explosion?" question, which is a biggie, there's even the "how did the Death Star survive the Death Star explosion?" issue to get around.

In ROTJ, the DS REALLY explodes - it doesn't have a few blowout explosions on its surface then spin away out of orbit and out of view. It seems more like one of those atomization type explosions yet now we have huge chunks of the superstructure that seem to have landed on Endor.:dunno

We all learned on 911 what happens to heavy construction when it becomes unstable under gravity. Dust.

I doubt very much that eggshell of the Death Star could support its own weight in the ocean, as dramatic as it looks.

With the latest SW comic there's speculation Rey will become the Chosen One - and the "another" Yoda was talking about in ESB!

:lol

I'll do you one better ''how did the explosion survive the explosion!''

Watching ANH last night I started laughing when Obi-Wan told Luke that only imperial storm troopers are so precise with their shooting.

I was like will you get a look at this lying SOB lol

If ANH had come out in today , the internet movie goer would have ripped it to shreds for stuff like that.

One thing i?m certain about is that the biggest complaint about the ST will be resolved in IX.

We?ll definitely get Han, Luke, Leia, Chewie, R2D2 and C3PO together in the same shot interacting with each other.

Maybe there is a gauntlet with powerful stones in it, and they revive everyone... including dead Carrie..

Now I'm dying to hear Ford doing Simple Jack.

Um, he already made his Simple Jack - Regarding Henry. And it has some great Simple Jack moments (and what makes it doubly hilarious is that before he's an a-hole lawyer:lol)

Not coincidentally, written by JJ Abrams. That guy's been polluting screens for nearly three decades.:lol

Meanwhile, Hasbro has only confirmed five action figures from TROS, and no dedicated line: https://4lomkuss.com/the-future-of-3-34-figures/

An indication of both the ST and kids' plastic playthings losing their luster?

What's this a picture of (from that linked article)?:
