Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

The best thing I did was put mine in a magazine sized comic book bag and board at the time, .not sure if those are still around these days but if I get mine out of storage, i’m pretty sure it’s still in good condition because those bags are made to last :wink1:

Mine is probably messed up, if I still have it at all.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I wish Kylo shot milk out of his nips.

I hope Daisy Ridley poses for Hustler I would buy that.

Lol she will never do that though JYE. I also have those old magazines as well as the empire strikes back one and the old marvel comics for the movies. I am old too.

Don’t feel bad, back in those days those magazines and souvenirs weren’t made to have any real cash value among collectors. Just more of a piece of the films to know and nostalgia for people today. Don’t get me wrong, not saying they were worthless, but no way you could call them a true investment. I’m sure in the price guide they have some value

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Watching again there is no way I believe that Snoke is gone. He was strong enough to push Rey around easily how can he die that quick. They are tricking the fans :lecture

Not buying it

Johnson has said everything you see is his intent, but that JJ can change it later. And since JJ has said Snoke has been dead before...

Can’t believe with all the knowledge Rey knows, her theory of the Force as a power that controls people’s minds and move objects is so bizarre. Even Luke as a whiny farm boy knew it meant more than that but then again, I guess we can’t blame her , growing up in a desert planet alone would make her naive

Thanks for the list, really helpful!

I did look it up, and it turns out 1080 bluray still has the upper hand on 4K streaming in every category (Color, shading, gradation, compression etc) than a 4K stream. Only positive being the stream is obviously sharper at double the resolution. Of course, 4K discs blow both out of the water.

So I think I’ll stick to the blurays I have for now, but the list is definitely helpful to make sure anyone buys the right movies in the future.

Maybe this is my issue....

Current Set up:

Samsung MU8500
Direct Ethernet cable to RoKu , ->HDMI from Yamaha 8000 Home Theater 7.1 (running DTS or Dolby HD true theater) sound is where its at baby!->HDMI to ARC port on Samsung

I get 150-200 MBpS TPLink Router

Current have 4 TB of storage on 4 drives in NAS Server set up for Plex

Over 800 movies, growing percent 1080 HD rips.

And an unimpressed with 4k......So maybe I need a 4k player to see all the fuss? Seriously not ready to have disc to store again, Losing the huge cabinet I made to house them was a relief.

I HAVE the skills and software to rip 4K , but I just cannot justify it for the space required and the slight increase in resolution over 1080...which for my eyes do not seem that worth it, although I have yet to see 4K via disc.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

So is the flashback with Luke and Ben a case of like Han and Greedo on “ Who shot first “

Kylo made it seem to Rey that Luke was going to kill him , but when Luke told Rey.. he stopped himself, but then Ben grabbed and ignited a saber in front of Luke , maybe for defense so Luke clashed with him . So who was telling the truth. does the novel clarify this situation at all?

The only reason I care is because I thought they made Luke seem like a crazy person at this point in time.

Ugh TLJ is so mixed up

I’d say that’s definitely the issue. If you get a 4K player there is definitely a difference. But to me it never made sense that a 4K stream could beat a bluray which is why I looked into it.

Depending on the movie, it’s usually anywhere from 25-45gb on a disc. When you stream that, clearly it needs to be cut down a lot. Then you add in 4K which has double the information and there’s no way a stream can hold as much information as that disc, it doesn’t savvy.

I do agree that uncompressed sound makes a huge difference!

No problem!

One advantage with iTunes is that they're (so far) upgrading existing purchases to the next level of resolution. So chances are you'll be future-proofed for 8k, 16k etc.

How do you figure? Luke had never even heard of the Force until Ben brought it up in his hut.

The movie never states conclusively which flashback was "correct" but it heavily implies that Luke was telling the truth when he revised his story for the final (third overall) telling.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Going thru my boxes I found these 2 books.

That ROTJ I remember buying in the theater in 83. :thud:

View attachment 401671

$3.00 was that alot in 83 lol

I've got that ROTJ book too. :yess:

And I think I'll go with OLED. I'm sure that MCU flicks look spectacular on QLED displays but I prefer too many real location movies that I'd rather look more lifelike.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Yeah if you like more natural looking movies then you can’t go wrong with OLED.

The number one complaint my boss gets from his OLED customers is “The picture is too dark!” lol

You really do need a dark room to appreciate everything OLED has to offer though so becareful where you’re putting it (that’s what she said).

We just finished a cluster installation behind a home bar that involved 2 rows of 55” QLED 4 per row.

Just for their bar area lol

You're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.
