The movie never states conclusively which flashback was "correct" but it heavily implies that Luke was telling the truth when he revised his story for the final (third overall) telling.

If you watch the scene carefully in HD you can clearly see Ben striking Luke first , then Luke blocking it. So Kylo lied after all ..Poor Luke

but they probably figure Leia won’t last then so I guess I can live with it. Why should she, Han and Luke are gone, Carrie’s gone..think Leia needs to die.

RIP TLJ Threads.

Those suckers get closed faster than porn spam and political discussions, lol. Which is fine, we've got the awesome blu-ray/UHD transfers to enjoy from here on out.

As for Streep Leia? Eff that.

SW fans desperately need to be jarred. In every sense of the word.

It's a shame Leia will have to die off screen and we won't get anymore of her. I'm not completely opposed to them doing the CGI thing, but I'm not sure they should recast. Stevie Nicks would be the only decent choice... but it would still be weird.

I'm sure Billie Lourd would sign off on them doing a CGI of her mom in a very, very minimal role if they asked her.

I actually hope that they do have her die off-screen between TLJ and Episode IX. Han-Violent Death, Luke-Peaceful Death, Leia-Off-screen death. That would work for me. At some point it becomes overkill giving everyone a dramatic final exit. And if Streep or someone *does* play Leia and has this big death scene it just won't ring true at all IMO.

Are you asking me that question? Just have her death referenced but not shown like Adrian in Rocky Balboa or Henry Jones Sr. in KOTCS.

Obviously this will be easiest if they don't have Episode IX start immediately after TLJ and instead say 5-10 years have passed since the escape from Crait.

What would be the point of keeping Leia around if Han and Luke are dead and Carrie is really gone from us. I say Leia sorry has to end.

Exactly. They skipped Han's funeral in VIII, so they could open IX with Leia's funeral. Then move on to Rey training the Canto Bight Kids (or whoever).
