Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Exactly. They skipped Han's funeral in VIII, so they could open IX with Leia's funeral. Then move on to Rey training the Canto Bight Kids (or whoever).

Please make it stop....

They could always say using the force killed her :lol :lol:lol

Flying in space was too hard on her :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

the problem is how?

do you blow up her ship? they ALREADY did that... how do you do it? im not being cynical. im seriously asking, how do you respectfully do that to Leia?

Show the Falcon land, Leia staggers down the ramp and slumps to the ground and dies, have her fade away and Rey can say she lost everybody and died of a broken heart.

In the novelization they did say the ‘cosmic rays’ from her space exposure were hard on her as a lead in to her eventual weakness and death.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

The only respectful way is to have Leia die off screen. I am going to miss Carrie Fisher but I don't want to see anyone else in the role. A few years time would be good for the story to progress too. Needs a little breathing room and let the characters become a little more battle hardened. Maybe Rey will find a flaw in between everything.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

She just died because she was old. No funeral, Poe is the only relevant person left to mourn her. This trilogy has been all about the next generation. Let the third one stand on it’s own (plus a couple of peripheral droids and a wookie).

Yeah, these ST movies really didn't turn out to be the equal melding of old and new (both story and character) I had hoped they would be, so glad to see EpIX being 100% about the new people - a Rey/Kylo/Finn/Rose/Hux/BB-8/Holdo/Maz movie is just what it needs to be.

To me they are all pretty bland bores with zero mythic power, so it will be interesting to see how they stand totally on their own with no classic SW hero (oldness and hurry-up-and-die-ness notwithstanding) to lean on, though I guess we still get Chewedacca, T-FAT 3PO and a few more cameos with that R2D2 background prop.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I was watching RO today and went through my head every time the theater reacted to certain scenes and im not going to lie, TLJ barely replicated that amount of enthusiasm. IX will be the most “meh” in a franchise ever, i mean rey, finn, poe, kylo are not merely enough to be like oh Hey must “see” IMHO.

Ep 9...first Star wars film where so many viewers could give an F about any of the characters. ..even the new Disney improved vegetarian chewie...Ep 9 is gonna suck....unless death, drugs, sex, heavy alcohol or Sam Peckinpah comes back to direct

Indeed. Kinda gives me a slight hope they will bring back from the death "1313" in some shape or form. Regarding IX that's a movie that demands both an in universe time skip and a real life wait to serve as a palate cleanser for the audiences.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Just got through watching episode VIII. one thing I could never figure out is that Luke only trained one person from the end of ROTJ to TFA? You would think there would be an army of jedi helping Luke.

Did Kylo and the Knights of Ren murder them all? Just another thing Rian forget was brought up in TFA. ****ing idiot.

Targets in North Carolina are flooded with copies and I was in there a good hour and no one walked up to kiosk with nearly 400 copies near checkout. Ntm someone put the advertisement on cola fridges backwards where it said ideJ tsaL ehT sraW ratS :lol This was Burlington Target btw, heavily populated shopping complex with the Cinema across the street.

Also copies in video section also not touched and they were having coupon sales for $10 off $25 or more on all Toys with TLJ section toys packed... with Roses, Finns, Reys and Poes...

Meanwhile I'm super doped about JWFK and their toys vs SW. :lol Long live Jurassic Park :yess:

Dunno about the Jedi but he briefly considered having the Knights in place of the Praetorian Guards. Can't recall why he decided against it, but yes, it left the Knights' fate unclear.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Ok, if Luke was a projection on Crait, how did he touch Leia and gave her the dice as well as kissing her

And then Kylo slashed the cross saber right through him ..twice.

Luke was still alive so he couldn’t be a force ghost..how could this happen

Rian didn’t say anything about it in the commentary

Is it explained in the novel :dunno
