Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Dunno about the Jedi but he briefly considered having the Knights in place of the Praetorian Guards. Can't recall why he decided against it, but yes, it left the Knights' fate unclear.

Luke said Ben escaped and took a dozen students with him ..so these have to be KOR

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Ok, if Luke was a projection on Crait, how did he touch Leia and gave her the dice as well as kissing her

And then Kylo slashed the cross saber right through him ..twice.

Luke was still alive so he couldn’t be a force ghost..how could this happen

Rian didn’t say anything about it in the commentary

Is it explained in the novel :dunno

Didn't the dice disappear from Kylo's hands a few minutes after he "killed" Luke?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Targets in North Carolina are flooded with copies and I was in there a good hour and no one walked up to kiosk with nearly 400 copies near checkout. Ntm someone put the advertisement on cola fridges backwards where it said ideJ tsaL ehT sraW ratS :lol This was Burlington Target btw, heavily populated shopping complex with the Cinema across the street.

Also copies in video section also not touched and they were having coupon sales for $10 off $25 or more on all Toys with TLJ section toys packed... with Roses, Finns, Reys and Poes...

Meanwhile I'm super doped about JWFK and their toys vs SW. :lol Long live Jurassic Park :yess:

All physical copies sold out at Amazon after one day:

https://comicbook.com/starwars/2018/03/28/star-wars-the-last-jedi-blu-ray-sold-out-amazon/

That includes all formats; blu-ray, 4K, and DVD.

Amazon and Disney have been having a spat for a few years now where amazon wanted a bigger percentage of the profits. Due to said spat Disney sends amazon a very small amount of its media at launch. I believe it started around 2014, then died down then escalated again last year. That’s why ragnarok sold out as well. I also remember when Dr Strange came out it was on back order for.. 2 months! (And we all know how great that movie is)

Anyway, I’m not saying the sales couldn’t be good in general, but amazon is a poor place to judge Disney releases from. In a month or so when the sales are posted, it will all become clear, whether good or bad.

I also remember amazon bullying time warner but they gave in quickly whereas Disney spited them. Honestly in this case I’m on Disney’s side.

But that’s why you’re seeing such different scenarios.

No problem!

One advantage with iTunes is that they're (so far) upgrading existing purchases to the next level of resolution. So chances are you'll be future-proofed for 8k, 16k etc.

Again, really good to know, that’s a huge bonus for going through Apple. It does make me wonder at what point will the upgraded media be ‘good enough’ (for traditional film making anyway)

Did Kylo and the Knights of Ren murder them all? Just another thing Rian forget was brought up in TFA. ****ing idiot.

Damn, Greedo always shoots first :lol

Yeah, there is a major dispute going on between Disney and Amazon in regards to supply levels of Blu-Ray. It escalated last year when quite a number of Disney titles didn't even show up for pre-order. I believe it got worse because Disney and Amazon are shaping up as major rivals in streaming later this year.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Why are you guys going to Amazon? They are selling all versions at Target, Walmart, Barnes and Noble , Best Buy etc, and at sale prices. They are selling, but the stores have plenty displays up :dunno

I checked all the stores today . They have plenty , just go to any of these stores :lecture

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

In the novelization they did say the ‘cosmic rays’ from her space exposure were hard on her as a lead in to her eventual weakness and death.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Didn't the dice disappear from Kylo's hands a few minutes after he "killed" Luke?

The logic of that moment - like the whole holo-projection thing itself - was a little muddled.

I was watching RO today and went through my head every time the theater reacted to certain scenes and im not going to lie, TLJ barely replicated that amount of enthusiasm. IX will be the most “meh” in a franchise ever, i mean rey, finn, poe, kylo are not merely enough to be like oh Hey must “see” IMHO.

Rey is interesting solely because she is seen closely interacting with Han Solo and Luke Skywalker - and of course because she's billed as the "new trilogy"'s designated Luke Skywalker stand-in. That she's female is the only unique and memorable aspect.

As a standalone character, minus Han/Luke/Leia and their stories, she is a pale photocopy of Luke without an actual mythic journey, played by a just-okay actress. And Ep IX is the movie that is going to throw all of that into sharp relief.

I had itunes since its infancy says, back then videos were released in standard resolution no matter what the movie, then in 2010 they added HD to some films and quietly they updated all movies to have HD quality, now they did it with 4K.

Digital content can be a blessing and a curse, for example i bought the star wars combo in itunes and got all six films. At the times they had no extra content found of blurays and thought i got ripped off, before rogue one got released on media, the movie studio added ALL matching content including extra stuff in ANH to match their content. Digital always evolves.m with that said i ALWAYS get my movies with CheapCharts app since finding itunes discounts on movies is impossible the app tracks all sales, i can tell when a movie is mot doing too good whenever they release it at 19.99 retail and two weeks later price drops to 9.99 lmao.

Anyways although the steelbook thing is a waste of money i got my 4k copy from through best buy the secret to snagging one is going to the bestbuy site early in the morning buy the movie and choose store pick up and the best buy crew snags the copies they havent put out in the floor, thats the only copy of the movie currently sold out, the 4k steel book and the regular bluray, there’s tons of copies of the other media formats still out.

As much as i hated buying the movie, i got it

If Streep is hired for Leia i’m immediately out of the ST!

I’ll give my TFA/TLJ blurays to the next homeless person I see.

SW for me will be RO/OT the end

Bad enough I have to watch some kid play Han.

Schwarzenegger is Conan/Dutch
Stallone is Rocky
Ford is Indy/Han
Fisher is Leia
Hamill is Luke

Accept no substitutes!

Are you seriois? They are actually considering recasting Leia?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Oddly enough though i’m ok with Ewan as old Obi-Wan lol

Well he played Obi in 3 other movies and was decent in the role. Leia can't be recast for one film at the end of her story. It's absurd. She needs to have been killed off screen in some sort of sacrifice or have her ship blown up at the beginning of the film. If they recast the character I'm done as well.

But again, are they actually considering this or was that a joke?

Yeah, I read about ti as well. Terrible idea.
But the entire ST is one huge terrible idea, so I suppose Disney will go for it. :lol

Well, it's different, isn't it?
Ewan is not going to play Old Ben, he's going to play middle-aged Ben... I have no problem if they cast the Stranger Things girl as a 15-year old Leia.

I feel the same. A younger version is what it is because they can't cast an old or dead actor in a much younger role unless it's CGI heaven and most people don't like that. Recasting Carrie with Streep as Leia? GTFO!

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I felt sad when I was in target on Wednesday. There were plenty of DVD & Bluray copies of TLJ, even some of the Target exclusive with book version. The only version that seemed to be out was the 4k version, but I'm sure it also had the lowest stock available. Seeing TLJ available made me realize again how let down I was by that movie. It is the 1st time I had no interest in anything Star Wars and previously debating which version I would buy and from where, and then going there 1st thing on a Tuesday morning with excitement.

A friend of mine, who also was let down by this, offered me the bluray and case from his 3D version (he had to buy both the 4K & 3D since hardly any movies released offer the 2 together) for $10, I countered with $5. :lol .. I will eventually have this in my collection, but I will wait for it to be part of this years Black Friday $5 deals. Just like I've done with the DCEU movies, which are all also still sealed, as most likely so will be my copy of TLJ. I just have no interest in watching TLJ again. Maybe after learning information about and seeing a trailer or promo stuff for EP9 will I have some interest in revisiting TLJ.

I can't even try to count how many times I've watched the OT or even the PT movies (mostly with my son), and I even desire to watch RO now and again. I've only seen TFA a few times, but I no longer have any desire to watch that knowing TLJ follows it.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I've watched TFA 1 and a half times lol. Once in the theater and a half a time at home :lol.
