Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

If Streep is hired for Leia i’m immediately out of the ST!

I’ll give my TFA/TLJ blurays to the next homeless person I see.

SW for me will be RO/OT the end

Bad enough I have to watch some kid play Han.

Schwarzenegger is Conan/Dutch
Stallone is Rocky
Ford is Indy/Han
Fisher is Leia
Hamill is Luke

Accept no substitutes!

*Checks Google* Wow, "fans" are actually petitioning for Streep as Leia? :google Probably the same ones that flooded RT with low scores for TLJ, lol.

I'd reject Episode IX if they did that but I'd still keep TFA and TLJ. Those films just ring so true for me seeing Ford, Fisher, and Hamill playing their iconic roles. And another thing I love about TLJ is that Johnson really made it a viable closing for the Saga. Even though Kylo is still alive the FO fleet is shattered and hope is rekindled in the galaxy (as shown by the kids re-enacting Luke's final stand.) It established that the battle between good and evil will be ongoing and constant throughout all generations and that Luke's actions will always be a centerpiece to the everlasting conflict.

I see the Falcon flying off into hyperspace as equivalent to the classic Western finales of the heroes riding off into the sunset, ready to face evil another day.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I've seen TFA 4x. Opening night with a friend, that weekend with my family, and 2x at home after being released on BluRay. I think that's it. I can't remember. I do know that after the initial excitement of a new ST trilogy wore off, I liked it less and less with my viewings at home. :lol The opposite effect RO has on me. Every time I watch it I like it more and more.

I think you got that backwards there fella... More like the crazy fans gushing with glowing praise for TLJ since they obviously don't care about continuity and quality in their SW movies.

The haters wan't to see these new movies crash and burn, so why would they want someone to replace Leia... :cuckoo:

Someone's in denial and wants to pretend they don't actually support seeing Leia again in Ep9, no matter who it is... :monkey3

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

You just answered your own question, lol.

:lol ... Nice try, but having Leia in it would make more people want to see it, not less. Most haters are out cause they didn't like what they did to Luke and that all the OT characters are gone and they don't care about the new ST characters. Adding Leia back in would spurn just as much curiosity as it did hate. They'd pay to hate the new Leia... :wink1:

I went to Target yesterday and couldn’t believe how many shirts they had. I sold all my shirt stock immediately.

:lol :lol

And not a single copy of Freddy Got Fingered on DVD. I can't believe that they just can't keep up with the demand for that film.

The opposite effect RO has on me. Every time I watch it I like it more and more.

I've only seen RO once and found it just as boring as AOTC. Vader is the only thing that made it worth watching for me. TBH I put all SW movies after 1983 right up there with Bayformers as franchises with too many completely superfluous sequels with bloated running times.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

:lol ... yeah, yeah.... That's just because the **** collector in me would see a hole/missing movie in my collection, not because I liked it. And still doesn't mean I'll see Ep9.

Same reason I have TDKR in my collection. I like to pretend the Batman Nolan movies ended with TDK which had an ending that didn't need to lead into a 3rd movie, but it's still there none the less.

I liked RO from the get go. Just seeing proper X-Wings, Y-Wings,Tie-Fighters, Star Destroyers, Tarkin, The Death Star, Leia... Vader is the cherry on the cake. Everything in it gets me to smile and gives me goose bumps. Feels like a proper OT movie to me.

The only part that makes me want to look away is Saw Gerrera and that creature thing, but that's nothing compared to nearly the entire movie that is the TLJ. Almost the whole movie is cringe worthy right from the opening scene with the pathetic Poe jokes that is such an epic fail till Leia flying in space. That's the problem with watching it again as I know from that moment I'd want to turn it off. To soon in the movie and cant get past it.

Same goes when I tried to watch BvS a 2nd time at home on HBO. As soon as I see Eisenberg as Luthor I needed to turn it off or walk away... Was hoping to give the ultimate edition a chance, but nope. :(

:lol I'm actually giving you a hard time on that one as I own the blu-ray box set of all prequels and SE's. Bleck. :lol :duff

That said I don't believe for a second that you (or anyone here) will be skipping Episode IX. ;)

Very true.

You just screwed a homeless dude out of TFA/TLJ though lol

Yeah this Streep thing ain’t happening anyways.

Because if she’s hired for Leia I want Trump as the Emperor lol

P.S.

Regardless what Miller/WB claim in my mind Fury Road Max is really the Feral kid.

I want to stay strong and skip it, and know it will be hard to do as a lifelong SW fan, but all depends on how bitter I still am come next December... :lol

2 years is a long time to ease my pain and suffering...

I guess it also depends on how I feel about the upcoming Solo, which I have very little hope for. If Disney can turn me around with a surprisingly good/entertaining movie, then maybe I can give them a 2nd chance with EP9, but "something inside me", an awakening perhaps, :)lol) is telling me I doubt that...

Unlike the new tagline for the ST, Disney has made me lose "Hope"...

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Regardless if TFA lived up to the hype or not no trailer ever again will equal Han saying “Chewie we’re home”.

This truly has to be one of the most epic moments in movie anticipation history besting even TPM in 99 because that didn’t have the OT actors going for it even though Lucas himself was making it.

Never again will we ever see this happen again not with Avengers, JL, any franchise hell not even with SW!

Avengers IW comes pretty close for me, especially after the letdown of TLJ and SW for me. Finally seeing all these Marvel characters on screen together after 10 years of buildup. And finally truly seeing Thanos on the big screen.... :panic:

The trailers for IW alone are better than the whole of The Forced Awakening. :lol
