Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Avengers IW comes pretty close for me, especially after the letdown of TLJ and SW for me. Finally seeing all these Marvel characters on screen together after 10 years of buildup. And finally truly seeing Thanos on the big screen.... :panic:

Oh no doubt this superhero cinematic universe stuff is indeed very big I mean we’ve had plenty of superhero movies before BUT never a shared universe of this magnitude.

Marvel has made superheroes almost as mainstream as SW.

The trailers for IW alone are better than the whole of The Forced Awakening. :lol

There’s some truth to what you just said.

But TFA had Hamill Luke, Ford Han and Fisher Leia.

I’ll tolerate the Christmas Specials just for those 3 ok lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Regardless if TFA lived up to the hype or not no trailer ever again will equal Han saying “Chewie we’re home”.

This truly has to be one of the most epic moments in movie anticipation history besting even TPM in 99 because that didn’t have the OT actors going for it even though Lucas himself was making it.

Never again will we ever see this happen again not with Avengers, JL, any franchise hell not even with SW!

So true. I've never been impacted by a trailer like I was when seeing that one for the first time on a Liemax screen before AOU. The applause at the LFL logo and then again after Han's now iconic line. Nothing in AOU lived up to those prior two minutes, lol.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Rey is interesting solely because she is seen closely interacting with Han Solo and Luke Skywalker - and of course because she's billed as the "new trilogy"'s designated Luke Skywalker stand-in. That she's female is the only unique and memorable aspect.

As a standalone character, minus Han/Luke/Leia and their stories, she is a pale photocopy of Luke without an actual mythic journey, played by a just-okay actress. And Ep IX is the movie that is going to throw all of that into sharp relief.

I had itunes since its infancy says, back then videos were released in standard resolution no matter what the movie, then in 2010 they added HD to some films and quietly they updated all movies to have HD quality, now they did it with 4K.

Digital content can be a blessing and a curse, for example i bought the star wars combo in itunes and got all six films. At the times they had no extra content found of blurays and thought i got ripped off, before rogue one got released on media, the movie studio added ALL matching content including extra stuff in ANH to match their content. Digital always evolves.m with that said i ALWAYS get my movies with CheapCharts app since finding itunes discounts on movies is impossible the app tracks all sales, i can tell when a movie is mot doing too good whenever they release it at 19.99 retail and two weeks later price drops to 9.99 lmao.

Anyways although the steelbook thing is a waste of money i got my 4k copy from through best buy the secret to snagging one is going to the bestbuy site early in the morning buy the movie and choose store pick up and the best buy crew snags the copies they havent put out in the floor, thats the only copy of the movie currently sold out, the 4k steel book and the regular bluray, there’s tons of copies of the other media formats still out.

As much as i hated buying the movie, i got it

Yeah I hate when you buy it and the price drops right after lol, my most hated moment in buying movies.

Thanks for mentioning cheapcarts, I’ll have to check that out!

Lol @ the way he’s kicking the robes forward while walking... harumph!

I think you got that backwards there fella... More like the crazy fans gushing with glowing praise for TLJ since they obviously don't care about continuity and quality in their SW movies.

The haters wan't to see these new movies crash and burn, so why would they want someone to replace Leia... :cuckoo:

Someone's in denial and wants to pretend they don't actually support seeing Leia again in Ep9, no matter who it is... :monkey3

Yeah if you actually check the sites that are clamouring for Streep they’re all the same SJW ones that were defending TLJ and accusing russian bots of hacking RT.(as opposed to sites without the agenda that liked TLJ or the sites that didn’t like it)

Without a hat in the political train myself, I can definitely say casting Streep would make half of America not watch Ep9 on principle alone at this point so I don’t think they’d be stupid enough to do it in the current climate... or maybe that’s exactly why? :lol

Also I hate the fact my iPad is autocapitalizing Streep... the heck? Her last name is programmed in here? :lol

True, but that epicness was entirely based on fan service and nostalgia. Lucas did a pretty good job getting the SW hype happening with all-new actors and/or characters in the TPM trailer (even if the film itself didn't live up to it!)

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

They lost me when they said their source was an actor who wants to remain anonymous.

File with Snikt’s besty who was at the screening of the first cut of Rogue One.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yeah I definitely raised an eyebrow when the unnamed source said that "there's a lot of pressure for Star Wars films to deliver especially with Sony's R-rated Spiderverse just around the corner."

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I would think Disney would be disappointed given that The Last Jedi was the full return of Luke Skywalker, something people have been waiting for for over 30 years. It should have made a lot more money. We'll find out in Episode 9, though, by whether they do a course correction or not.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

cant wait to bash this one...maybe expecting this to be bad will mean its good....somehow I doubt it

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Snikt is actually working on the script for episode 9 and the Obi-Wan film, so all you doubters and non-believers will eat crow soon enough. :lecture

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

You know, the more I thought about it....I cannot say I am against if they cast Streep as Leia. I know it seems sacrilegious, but the character of Leia was supposed to go on in Episode 9 and I do not feel that her dying in between movies or her just being off doing something else is showing proper closure for her character. Leia's arc does not feel satisfactory if it just ends the way Last Jedi ended. I think it will be weird, but if they keep it as a limited screen time performance and have Leia have some kind of closure with her son. Remember that Kylo did decide to spare her life. There are enough feelings for his mother that he could not kill her. He may not have even known that she survived, as far as he knew she was killed aboard the Raddus when his wing men shot the bridge of the ship.

I am honestly not against somebody of the calibur of Meryl Streep being allowed to bring some kind of closure to the character of Leia. I think it would show more respect to Carrie Fisher to have her good friend in real life finish her characters story arc than having her die off screen or just not saying she is off doing something else.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Streep will scream out "SHOW ME THE MONEEEYY!!!"

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

*Checks Google* Wow, "fans" are actually petitioning for Streep as Leia? :google Probably the same ones that flooded RT with low scores for TLJ, lol.

The Narrative. Always remember The Narrative. :lecture:lol

And yes, the same fans who supposedly railed against "the force is female" SJWs taking over Star Wars would suddenly be passionately advocating for SJW/feminist icon Streep taking over Leia. Glad it makes sense to you.:rotfl

And remember - fans who didn't like TLJ must ALWAYS have quotations placed around them - "fans" - while fans who liked TLJ don't require quotations as they are true fans.:lecture

I'd reject Episode IX if they did that but I'd still keep TFA and TLJ. Those films just ring so true for me seeing Ford, Fisher, and Hamill playing their iconic roles. And another thing I love about TLJ is that Johnson really made it a viable closing for the Saga. Even though Kylo is still alive the FO fleet is shattered and hope is rekindled in the galaxy (as shown by the kids re-enacting Luke's final stand.) It established that the battle between good and evil will be ongoing and constant throughout all generations and that Luke's actions will always be a centerpiece to the everlasting conflict.

I see the Falcon flying off into hyperspace as equivalent to the classic Western finales of the heroes riding off into the sunset, ready to face evil another day.

Hopefully the fact Luke never set foot on Crait gets dropped from the kids' retellings. When the hero doesn't even set foot on the battlefield "bravery" in the battle between good and evil becomes a somewhat abstract concept (a bit like Luke's "plan" - on all levels.):dunno

And damn - if the word "HOPE" never makes another appearance in Star Wars films - and Star Wars film discussion - that would be a very, very good thing. The word somehow so perfectly encapsulates the faux-empowered (supposed social change via retweet,) hashtag "word" activism laziness of today.

It's like #lukehopeoncrait could be the new #kony2012 - millions who endlessly talk about hope but forget to actually SHOW UP to stop the evil.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

The lack of hype/news from this is really weird- are they making this in total secret or something?????????????
