As noted above it's the Jetpack Troopers who are new, not the jetpacks themselves.

Actually they did bother with Tatooine, there were Imperial troops stationed there... or where the Sandtroopers just deployed to find the droids? I always understood that "send a detachment down there, see to it personally" just meant pick a bunch of guys to lead the search, not that there weren't any Imperial Troops down there.

At any rate, everybody knew about the Empire and its oppressive system, even in backwater Tatooine.

Maybe "They fly now!?" should be "They've got jetpacks now!?" The technology ain't new, the mass deployment is.

They can ride, catapult or fly whatever they like at them...

I don't know jye... whatever they come up with as to who Rey is, the damage is already done IMHO. This doesn't work like a Shyamalan movie, where the reveal at the end sheds light on what happened before, because what has happened before in the ST hasn't been very well written.

That means the film cut 15 minutes from the length originally given to theaters. Maybe they watched my video where I said when you finish a SW film then you need to immediately watch it and cut out the 10 stupidest minutes before actually showing it in theaters, lol.

Interesting that of the 10 released SW films the five shortest films (OT/RO/Solo) are also the best.

TLJ and AOTC are the longest...
