See for me there is bad dialogue like PT Anakin and then there is corny adventure dialogue like They Fly Now.

I can separate the two.

Same here. Also, who cares how long jetpacks have been around in the SW universe? That's not even relevant. None of their past skirmishes with stormtroopers featured ones that had jetpacks, so from the point of view of these characters it's something new that they haven't had to deal with previously. After TLJ I understand that pessimism is expected/warranted, but IMO a little bit of perspective wouldn't hurt.

Except they have felt with it before.

Also another thing. How has Finn the stormtrooper not heard of this before?

Finn is an imposter. He demonstrates no trooper skill, no training, no guts, no balls... only mediocre comedic skills and buffoonery and emotion -- things ST training should have wiped away.

But Disney will say "you can't erase the individual -- the individual is strong"... this while Disney spends millions studying how to manipulate children.

As he?s become...to be fair I think he was a good shot with a blaster in TFA.

For me there?s bad: ?I hate sand?

Corny: ?They?re coming through!? ... ?Only a master of e-vil, Darth? ... ?Unlimited POWER!? etc. etc. which is part of the fun...

...and inexplicable in-universe:

?They fly now?!? ? I get the intention but it?s weird given that jet packs are a thing. If it was otherwise a rollicking good film I?d overlook it. Who knows, maybe it is. Haven?t seen it yet.

I put They Fly Now in your 2nd group.

The official word regarding dialogue, characters and scenes will always be, "It was intended for the younger audience." That's how Lucas justified the Ewoks, Jar-Jar and the numerous cringe-worthy lines found in the PT.

Okay I watched the clip.

I think they were going for "They have a cave troll" but it didn't help that they had three dorks all repeating the same line, lol.

If the scene is fun I'm sure it'll be fine but if the entire film is a disaster then this will just be another example.

Probably not a good idea to release a "silly" jetpack clip the same week we're all buzzing on a dozen flying Mandalorian badasses.

I think it’s funny when Threepio says it because he lives his life one terror at a time. It also suffers from being the only thing we have to talk about. :lol

Still think the helmet is a bit funky, but he looks cool on screen. I'm sucker for anything trooper though.

It didn?t hurt that Finn-Rey first meet up was immediately followed by an amazing Falcon escape sequence especially in Imax 3D that was and remains incredible.

Don?t get yourself caught up with the individuals here who hate every single second of TFA-TLJ it?s a very boring discussion path to find yourself on.

I learn more from those that present balanced views usually literally with a 50/50 love hate relationship with the ST.

Hell I even find good stuff in the PT like the music and end credits.

Here here, hating on the ST in now ?in? . I knew that would be a thing when it was announced Disney would buy it.

I rewatched TLJ last night and still like it alot. There is alot of failure in it as well, but the Luke/Rey/Kylo stuff is pretty damn good. I think there is a bigger picture going ok in that film than people realize. Especially the dynamic between Rey and Kylo, something big is going on between them, bigger than people think or are ready for.

Some people will never get past the lightsaber throw or the milk scene to appreciate that part of the story. Thats one of Rian?s BIG mistakes. He injected levity and comedy in a place where alot of fans just didnt want it. And he lost them. Had he replaced those with a scene or two of Luke seeing Kylo?s dark side come out in his training, and you might have alot of fans enjoying TLJ more.

Now the whole Canto scenes are a waste of film, introducing a character no one needed. That was clearly pandering to the Asian audiences.....
