I feel like Rose is more a Mary Sue than Rey, in the older meaning of the word - a substitute for the author who exhibits superior intellect and morality, impressing and teaching the established characters.

Only problem is i she?s Rian Johnson?s idea of a Mary Sue. Which, I can kinda see.

Yeah, see I think for me the appeal is you saw it in the movie and now you're literally standing in it. A SW land that is "generic" - ie sort of SW inspired but not really a recreation of any particular location - is pretty much a waste of time.

I'm no Harry Potter fan but my kids were just blown away literally standing in Daigon Alley in HP World, and also the accurate recreation of riding in the Hogwarts Express. That to me is the transporting magic of a fan being able to stand in the "real" classic Mos Eisley Cantina, accurately recreated in 3 dimensions vs a generic bar with "SW-inspired" creatures.

And as a former SSC employee, do you know one way or the other if Sideshow has now not renewed/lost the SW 1/6 license? With each passing month of no SW 1/6 activity that does seem to be further confirmed (you realize companies make announcements about landing a license, but not about losing one - it's just silence.) It would be a pity if that Lando Skiff 1/6 proto they showed a year or so ago never made it to production.

I get it, people want what they've seen before, and there is nothing wrong with that. I personally am enjoying this new environment - I also want to make it clear that I saw all the original movies as they came out, so I am an OTer - it's just fun. That said I can understand why some others may not like it, though I would say having your mind made up before ever going is not exactly optimal for experiencing new things you actually might end up enjoying, but to each their own (I'm not here to change anyone's mind, just stating that Galaxies Edge is pretty damn fun.)

I'm not an ex-employee at Sideshow - still he after all these years. I can't speak about licensing as that is not my place. We still have the SW license though. I can't tell you what we can or cannot make, as that is not my department - and of course I would like to not get into any hot water at work. Stuff is still coming though and that figure could show up in the future, but to be honest I do not know it's plan. Sorry.

Agreed, but to be fair youtube has changed that "before ever going" thing - you can virtually walk through these places now (and in ultra-HD or even 3D,) so saying you're judging it without seeing it isn't really fair.

And at the prices these visits cost now (HP World is "cleverly" spread over two parks - with two admissions - in Orlando:gah:,) having a virtual visit to decide if it's worth the price a very good thing.:lol

And okay re: SSC. The new Rancor statue is 1/6-ish (but in reality is probably 1/8) and there hasn't been a word on anything new 1/6 SW in nearly 18 months, so I assume they have the SW license, but 1/6 is now excluded. There is no way SSC would let 18 months pass without anything new in 1/6 from such an expensive license. The SSC prices had gone stupid anyway (tripled over a decade pretty much, though quality had doubled over time) but still sad to think that over a decade of SSC 1/6 SW is over. The only company that would have made the SW figs I wanted.:(

Regardless if TROS is a massive hit Boyega just ended his career by dissing Disney + the way he just did.

Ewan McGregor, Pedro Pascal and the MCU actors must all be cringing at his comment right about now.

Just like Cuba Gooding jr ended his career by saying no to Spielberg (like who does that) Boyega just ended his by saying he?s above D+ material.

Done.

cya big hips don?t let the door hit you on the way out.

What did FN say?

Apparently he has a big-screen career beyond the ST.

Sorry to hear it if he said that. Industry wise seems like streaming is wave of the future. Some series are incredibly high quality but just too long for a theater run.

He is a publicists nightmare. A huge mouth spouting **** all day.

He generally gives fun interviews; but yeah, could use a tad more humble-pie. I am sure after the backlash of the last movie, most of the actors would be ready to move on from that experience.

If I were in his shoes, I'd have said, 'never say never.' You don't want to piss off Disney.

Re-watched Force Awakens and Last Jedi over the last two days. Whatever people want to say about TLJ is more than fair, but man, Mark Hamill gave an amazing performance as Luke. Honestly, some of the best work of his career. All the more impressive considering he hated everything Luke was in it.

My cynical side tells me that his statement was actually APPROVED by Disney.

Look the movie is just 2 1/2 weeks away publicity is publicity and there is nothing that drives advertising revenue better than controversy.

Like when clothing companies keep releasing racially controversial ads over and over and over then quickly apologize, that?s all manufactured just like I think Boyega?s statement was.

It brought the eyeballs.

Mission success.

So based off my cynical fake Hollywood views he will be just fine.

Movie is not out yet he is still under contract for the promotional period so his statements are still under control.

Also another clue this was manufactured.

He is ALREADY on D+

Maybe the backlash is out of context some; but since Boyega hasn't done a limited series far as I know, not sure why he doesn't just see these as doing a long movie. And Disney (and I think Comcast) are jumping onto the streaming arena with mega $$$$$

So it's stupid to limit ur options acting-wise. (And personally thought Pacific Rim 2 was *&^% but Amazon's The _______ Report with Adam Driver was excellent, so Boyega might wanna re-think things. Especially since the TROS trailers just have him going "Whoooo" again. Boyega is talented guy but anyone can go whoo-whoo.)

Agree about Hamill's performance.:clap:clap:clap

Boyega’s young. In a couple years when he’s getting offers for Starship Troopers vs. Mimic part 2 he’ll be hanging out by Jon Favreau’s driveway.

The whole 'whooo' thing and all the frantic running has always felt like a direct response to the Plinkett reviews of the prequels and how lifeless and wooden they are.

Too bad. They can do a limited series with Sebastian Stan who looks eeriely like a younger Hamill and show his years after-Empire to ATF etc. Am sure Luke didn't spend all his time hanging out at his sister's place. Fill in the who-is-Snoke gaps and explain how the First Order pops up so fast. Knights of Ren and all that. End the series with the destruction of the school and Luke leaving.

Yeah, Hamill knocked it out of the park. I mean, he looks so haunted at times.
And with the other: to me, a paying job is a paying job!
