Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

No, I don't think Lucas cared at all. He was burned and burned badly. He has a lot of anger in him for his former fans. He took his ball and went home and said scerw you guys....I don't care anymore and I hope you ALL get burned on crap you hate in the future. Me? I gave it my all and it wasn't good enough so **** you guys. I'm OUT.

Hamill, I believe he cares. I do. I don't know the guy. Never met him. Never will. But this character, this experience, this LIFE...it defined him for FORTY YEARS. By far more than half his life. By all accounts he's friendly and cordial and warm to fans (other than the autograph fees.) I feel he cares and he was crushed by what they did and what he knew his lifelong fans were about to witness.

He seems like a genuinely good human being and he's a lifelong fan of the genre, not just SW. I believe he cared about "me" and everyone else and it weighs heavily on him. I have no proof. I'm just another dork.

The *******s are Kennedy and Johnson, not Mark.

And you and Khev too, constantly trying to get lulz by pretending to love this insulting drivel cause it makes you giggle when you trigger REAL lifelong fans that are disgusted by this film.

Go on, keep snickierng like 10 year olds that snuck on the internet after Dad went to bed. I'm done reading your ****. Both of you. Knock yourself out with your "auteur" film that the plebs are too stupid to understand. It's a waste of my life.

An Easter message from Mark Hamill to Otomofan:

"We were happy to ruin people's childhoods."

:lol

CNN: "Last Jedi" did receive some criticism online, even in the "Star Wars" community...

Hamill: Fancy that. Criticism online? Unheard of.

CNN: Looking back, was any of the criticism fair?

Johnson: No, no.

Hamill: We were happy to ruin people's childhoods.

Johnson: The thing is though, "no" in terms of, "Oh wow, they're right, I shouldn't have done that," but "fair" in terms of every single "Star Wars" thing that comes out, every fan has stuff they love, stuff they hate about it. Every movie has its lovers and its haters. Every single one going back to the originals.

Hamill: We were so lucky there wasn't social media when "Empire Strikes Back" came out.

Sorry Junk but you, me and Khev are not real lifelong fans so lets shut our traps.

Yes that’s right Khev is NOT a real lifelong SW fan lol

I mean what can you do but laugh at posts like that. :lol

I mean it’s true that ultimately when it comes to TLJ I know that you’re 101% in the wrong and Khev and I are 101% in the right and that’s all that really matters so lets go get some wings and beer shall we lol

Yeah the complainers aren't going anywhere, if anything they'll try to make their voices louder as they continue to fade from relevance. It doesn't mean that the grown-ups have to cease our discussions though. :duff

Oh believe me I was being 100% truthful Hamill literally looked right into the camera at Otomofan and said “GET THE **** OFF this SW train!”

Yeah. I mean SW actors have always poked fun at the movies. I remember Carrie describing her time making Empire and how she and Ford filmed all their scenes while "Mark was off in the swamp with Bette Davis," lol. They chuckle at the movies, chuckle at the characters, and I don't think for a second that when Mark called Luke "Jake Skywalker" that it was meant to be this galvanizing mantra for all the haters. I'm sure that the primary reason he redacted those comments was on account of how his words were being twisted by the crazies.

It's clear he gets a kick out of stirring the pot and will probably joke about his character being Force projected to another planet at the end until the day he dies but it's all in good fun.

Boy are you going to get it now lol

Do you think Junkion was sold off for drinking money by filthy junk traders. :lol

And when the smoke clears I might even have to brush my shoulder a second time, lol.

Some people like to ignore the fact that by having Rey always know deep down that her parents were losers who sold her Johnson retroactively gave so much more gravitas to the scene in TFA where she pauses at Unkar Plutt's offer to buy BB-8 and ultimately just can't bring herself to force her own misfortune onto someone else.

Oh well, off to the pauper's grave to pay my respects to Junkion's parents, lol.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

This thread will be closed soon too. What happened since last night??

Some of you guys need to stop. You won't admit it but you are trying to bait & goad people. Stop with the Star Wars ruined mu childhood thing. It is the dumbest most ignorant statement someone can make. Child abuse/sexual abuse/losing a parent, these are things that ruins someones childhood. Not a company out to make a buck off a huge property and openly admitting they don't care nor need to cater to it's consistent 40 year+ fan base. That's just insulting.

Everyone has different reasons for liking/disliking this movie. Trying to lump people into a single group is plain ignorance and simple mindedness.

Today is a holiday, whether you celebrate it or not, it's not a day to call people out and try to to get them riled up.. Act like adults today guys, resume being children tomorrow...

It's possible to have differing views and still be able to communicate and be civil to each other.....

Happy Easter / Passover or any other holiday you celebrate today/this week...

:duff .... :love ... :1-1:

Remember the most insightful and inspiring characters word of wisdom from this new trilogy. " Don't fight what we hate, Save what we Love ..." :wave

What’s funny is that the answer to her parents was in TFA all along! :gah:

It's funny. This has got to be the tenth interview in as many days I've seen with RJ and MH side by side (always - wonder why that might be?) being directly and repeatedly questioned about the "haters," with them mocking it with gems such as how every SW movie has had a massive backlash that has driven a bitter, toxic wedge through SW fandom. As if what has happened is some kind of "normal" reaction that every SW film has.:slap:rotfl

Yet... that SHEER NUMBER of interviews and repetition of discussion about the "supposed" backlash says it all. I mean I thought it was bots. I thought it was a few hundred neck-beards. I thought it was a tiny minority of "fans" who hate diversity (or something.)

So... why? Why SO MANY interviews doing what can only be objectively described as damage control and Narrative massage? For a few hundred intolerant neck-beards who used bots to "weaponize RT" (still cracks me up, Khev... STILL :rotfl)?

I'm guessing you could do a montage of HUNDREDS of recent clips from different interviews of RJ saying how the "haters" don't matter and how it has NOT altered his plans, and with MH at his side (leash just out of camera range) using the same sardonic tone he used against TLJ for months, now flip-flopped against the "haters."

So I'd say the same thing to RJ I've been saying to Khev - when you're trying to spin something, clearly establish your Narrative and stick to it. Khev always puts the disliked-TLJ "fans" in quotations, and that's a solid start because it questions loyalty while dismissing them as true fans, but if RJ wants to say the backlash was this tiny minority of haters and put it down to stuff like "the internet," then have Disney demand that interviewers stop asking so many questions about it.

Because... if the backlash was so TINY, and all about bots or manipulation, and it happens to every SW movie anyway, then why talk about it SO MUCH? Because doing so starts to suggest the opposite of your carefully ordered Narrative: that in truth (yes, a tricky concept with a conglomerate like Disney pulling the strings of a weakened media) the fanbase is pretty evenly divided into strong like and strong dislike for TLJ, and that its NOT some tiny minority of "supposed fans" as we've been repeatedly told.

Otherwise... it would have long ago been dismissed (like back in December) and moved on from, and not really still discussed. RIGHT?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

can we be real honest here. This is a repeat of last time. The third film in the franchise might be the best one. The PT got it’s bad rep from the second movie and people hounded that movie and now episode 3 is probably one of the best Star Wars movies. I can see them doing a major overhaul with the third movie.

Doesn't matter how ****** they are, if people keep paying to see them, they will keep making them.

The deleted extended horse animal escape from Canto was spectacular shame it was cut. Very long almost Pod Racing length but lots of cool stuff in that sequence.

Yeah some of the best aliens in the movie were in that extended sequence. I also liked seeing the Caretaker village on the island. Finally Luke's third lesson revealed.

Yeah there were a few deleted scenes that should’ve been left in.

A very good 1 1/2 documentary i’m impressed they splurged lol

It’s just mind boggling what it takes to make one of these.

Hey! They were not filthy junk traders. Just honest alcoholics with a shortage of bourbon and a surplus of kids. You do the math. :lol

I haven't got to the bonus features yet.

It's interesting that they could have just edited Luke's line about "three lessons" in post once they knew the village scene was cut but they left it. I don't know what the intention was but to me it adds an element of reality to the island sequence - to paraphrase, "The Force laughs while you make plans."

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yeah it's interesting that the finished film has Rey leaving without bothering to hear what Luke's final lesson would be. And it actually makes sense that she would have done so within the context of the story.
