Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I thought there was an interesting disparity in the amazon reviews in America and Japan. In theory, reviews are for the product as a whole, not just the content of the movie or whatever.

In America, where the movie has been released on home video, it seems pretty split with 38% giving it five stars and 39% giving it 1 one star.

In Japan, where the home video hasn't even been released yet, it has a 9% 5 star rating and a 57% one star rating.

In other words, Japanese audiences hated this movie. And don't even try to give me any crap about Japan not liking Star Wars. Did any other country still love Star Wars so much in 19-freaking-93 that they had THIS????

I didn't think so.

Weren't Japanese movie tickets super pricey?

Can't blame them. I can only imagine paying sky high prices to watch the new Star Wars only to get TLJ in return.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yes, exactly. Two take-aways after TLJ:

1. TFA is definitely the weaker of the two.
2. That being said TFA actually improves when watched with the backstory provided by TLJ.

Kudos to Johnson for making a great film as well as the lesser film before it better by association.

:lol :lol

Or maybe you're the Seperatists, being manipulated by a sinister force, playing both sides!!!!!

Conspiracies R Real!!!!!!!

What the **** is a Separatist?

Sounds like something Putin or Jinping fights against, right?:lol

Opening weekend for me as well.

Hopefully those that claim to have hated TLJ will just abstain from seeing the movie and leave it for the real fans.

It's "fans" versus real fans.:yess:

*insert geeks upturning card table gif*

The most straight-forward explanation for TLJ's merits I have read thus far.:lecture

No-no-no.
Puteen and Kimjangaponga are Separatists, they fight US of A.
Or at least that's the picture western media tries to paint anyway.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

We are all real fans...

We just have different wants from the story and characters.....

Some fans were satisfied , like myself, others were not just unsatisfied , but seemed to be offended by the ST.

I dunno if I could get that passionate about a story line that went in a different way than I wanted. Maybe to those folks, I am not a really fan.

I mean BvS and Justice League were abominations to me. I don’t spend any time talking about them beyond the initial release....

And I am a huge Batman fan...

Haha great post, seems I can't give you any more reputation.

Reputation is worthless anyway. It's theoretically supposed to show community respect for valued members but in practice people with a full Rep bar are ejected just as fast as some newb troll that comes in swinging. I asked why that is and got no response.

I felt it was the end of "my" Star Wars. But I harbor no resentment.

So you didn't even like the Batman aspect? That's one thing most agree was good.

Reputation bars mean nothing if someone refuses to follow the board's Code of Conduct. They can be indicators to other board members that a lot of someone's posts have been "liked" but not why or by whom. Lots of the biggest trolls here have full rep bars (padded by other trolls) which is why the mods pay them no mind if someone is out of line or worse deliberately turns their nose at the CoC because they think their "reputation" gives them some kind of free pass for such behavior.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I guess if i’m allowed to hate the PT others can hate the ST.

Thankfully I chose the right ones to hate lol

As much as I dislike AOTC, I never got worked up over it.

It was a bad movie, I didn't cry, didn't write angry letters, and didn't go on hate fueled rants online. I brushed it off and moved on, hoping for the best from the next movie.

Ever since that green Bugs Bunny guy showed up in the 1977 comics Star Wars has been a buffet; take what you want and leave the rest.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Luke Skywalker is a victim of hack filmmakers pushing a postmodern feminist agenda. Kathleen Kennedy and her beta male yesman Rian Johnson were determined to discredit Luke Skywalker because they see him as the symbol of patriarchy in the Star Wars universe. Hence their alternative, MaRey Sue.

Its important to distinguish between feminism and female chauvinism . Feminism is about the struggle for gender equality. An entirely noble and legitimate goal. The latter is simply man hating and establishing some sort of new order of female dominion. Its more closely akin to Nazism than feminism.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

The word "nazi" gets thrown around far too frequently nowadays, like in the post above. Really diminishes just how vile and abhorrent Nazis were.

Get in touch with reality, take a history lesson. Stop comparing things you don't like to nazis.

Yeah , I know .

BVS I felt like he didn’t really reach the cynical , been there , done that , older Batman. Batfleck felt like someone trying to be Batman , not Actual Batman....

JL he was just taking up space....

Interestingly, two elements of this cover are being "canonized":

Funnily enough, the first thing I thought of when I saw Jar Jar was Jaxxon. And Lucas HATED Jaxxon!!

P.P.S. This also happens to be the first Star Wars comic I ever saw on a newsstand. Needless so say, my young SW-obsessed brain exploded!
