So I finished TROS tonight. All the saga in 4k is now complete.
I still love TROS.. Its far from perfect (other then the first two what SW film is perfect) but its just so much fun and its a beautiful looking film.
If you could take away the cave sequence and the dagger plot line and spend a little more time with the return of the Emperor, I think I would have little to no problems with it.
After watching all 9 films this is easily my 3rd fav.
As for the ST.. As has been stated so many times before. Its really to bad that there was not one writer with a direction. I think TFA and TROS play well together but TLJ just feels out of place.. Its funny that TLJ has least amount of moving the story forward but happens in the longest film in the series.
So with this latest viewing of these nine films my ranking have changed a lot.
1.
ANH - 10 out of 10 - Still my fav.
2.
ESB - 10 out of 10 - Both this and ANH are perfect films for me. The standard in which no other SW film ever met.
3.
TROS - 8 out of 10 - Give the Emperor a true return and it could be a 9 for me. As is it has some of my fav drama moments in the entire saga.

TPM - 7.5 - out of 10 - I have always liked this movie and it has aged the best of the PT IMO. It feels the most like a SW movie out of the PT. I like almost all the characters it has two of my fav action scenes in the saga.

TFA - 7.0 out of 10 - My enjoyment improved greatly because of TROS. If this film did not look like a made for TV movie at times I could maybe give it another 1/2 point.

ROTS - 6 out of 10 - I enjoyed this much more this time. I like half of this film but the fall of Anakin was not handled well IMO and it just did not stick the landing. But I enjoyed it for the most part. Never been a fan of GG but Obi Wan is fun to watch on his mission. HC is much better this time out.. TCW tv series has always helped me enjoy the Anakin character more in ROTS. The score might be lower if not for that. But that is neither here not there.

ROTJ - 4 out of 10 - I cant believe this but man I just did not enjoy the film this last time. Jabba is great but the sail barge payoff is average. It has my fav space battle and I like the redemption of Vader. But all the actors just phoned it in and really killed my enjoyment. Nobody felt like the characters I loved from ANH and ESB and boy is it boring at times

TLJ - 3 out of 10 - Take away the stuff I hate and replace it with more of what I like and I could movie this up the list. But I have never been a fan and I am still not a fan. I like Luke, Rey, and Kylo in this movie and nothing more. It feels the least like a SW movie to me and that's just what RJ wanted.. FU RJ

AOTC - 3 out of 10 - Would I like this movie more or less if it wasn't a SW film? I think I would like it less. While I think I would be able to enjoy TLJ more if it wasn't a SW film.. So AOTC gets the bottom spot even though I give it the same rating. If it had something for me to latch onto I could rate it higher. I like little things here and there like the Design of the creatures and well... Well the design of the creatures.
I have a real hard time connecting to any of the characters in this one. Oh well. At least I enjoyed it more this time then I ever have.
So there you go.. A pretty even representation of all the films. Two of each film from each trilogy is at a 5.5 or above and all three trilogies have a film at the bottom of the pack.
OT - 9 out of 10 - Obviously wins.. 2 perfect films and even though I didn't enjoy ROTJ this last time it at least ties up the story and has a few highlights.
ST - 7 out of 10 - Is my 2nd fav trilogy really all due to TROS. I know the story and structure is not perfect but its the one SW film, since the OT, that reminded me of the feeling I had when I was a kid. It really helped TFA become a better movie for me. It does feel more like an Epilogue for our classic hero's and a brand new adventure for everyone else..
PT - 6 out of 10 - I enjoyed it way more then any other time I have watched it in the past. I pretty much love TPM and I tried to watch the other films through the eyes of its fans. It helped a bit with ROTS but not as much with AOTC. I wonder if I would like AOTC and ROTS more with modern FX like in TROS.. Say what you will about TROS but the FX in that one is pretty much flawless. The PT has a more focused storyline for sure but the stilted acting by some, awful dialoged, CGI sets, and some bad ideas really hurt the films for me. But they are SW movies and I still enjoy them for the most part.
She's struggling with the one weapon, calls another weapon to her hand and then defeats her opponent. Holy crap how did I not pick up on that before.
