Lightsaber? a Lightsaber? Rey doesnt need a Light Saber.....

Shes just going to pick up one of those Lightsaber Crystals and just project the raw energy from it...

shes just going to shoot rays of light from it,

shes going to will the Crystal into not burning her and shes just going to create a Light sword that comes out of the crystal itself

Egg Shen is her new trainer and mentor in EP9. He's been in hiding since Order 66.

I love Big Trouble In Little China... Is there still a dumb plan to reboot and ruin that movie too with The Rock as the star? :(

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Right. He hid it in R2 who voluntarily handed it right over in defiance of his master.

And sure. Luke wearing ceremonial Jedi robes are just his wear-around-the-house clothes.

Sorry. I forgot that Luke left the complete map to his location in R2-D2. Luke did nothing to hide himself.

So what was Poe traveling to the ass end of nowhere looking for? Why was everyone trying to get BB-8?

I just can’t remember. It makes no sense because, like you said, Luke provided the location to the island.

Once again, I bow to your encyclopedic knowledge and comprehension skills.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Finally got a chance to watch TLJ again last night, and I have to say I am more impressed with many story directions Johnson chose to take which will account for a great deal of growth for characters in episode 9, should Abrahms follow the set course.

While TLJ was primarily Rey and Luke's movie, I think the most growth will come from The secondary characters. Many people felt Poe, Finn and Rose's storyline was pointless, but I disagree. Their story led them to make choices that were nearly catastrophic for the Resistance, because they chose to not trust their leadership and take matters into their own hands, and ultimately mutiny, leading to the almost total decimation of the Resistance. Had Holdo's plan been allowed to unfurl without Poe and Finn interfering, the Resistance would have snuck away, taking refuge on the mineral planet leaving the FO to continue chasing the flag ship. This failure, I think will especially help to groom Poe into becoming more of a leader in the following film.

I also enjoyed how Ben Solo is shown as being not all black or white. I think his story shows how even good people can be lousy parents. Kylo is a severely damaged person, his parents probably more occupied by trying to rebuild the republic, rather than be attentive parents. His dark thoughts, which everybody has from time to time, led to what appeared to be the ultimate betrayal by his Uncle. What other direction could his character realistically take? Abandoned or betrayed by his family, he succumbed to the machinations of Snoke.

I actually found the lack of a cliffhanger to be refreshing, it gives a lot of room to the characters and story, as it's less clear what their next step in the Story is, the next step that I will be eager to see in the next movie.

Not new thoughts really, but just thinking about it more since watching it last night.

See, that is where I think one of TLJ's major thematic problems lies. SW has always been about forging your own way and not heeding authority, sometimes even going against your mentors' advice, because you believe in your own principles.
Just a few examples:
- ANH: Luke dismisses the orders to use his targeting computer and destroys the Death Star (yes, he's hearing Ben's voice, but he's disobeying orders)
- ESB: Once again, Luke disregards authority and goes against Yoda and Ben's advice to try and save his friends.
- ROTJ: Luke pays no heed to Leia's advice (not really an authority figure, but he still follows his instinct) and goes to meet Vader.
Even the PT has the same underlying theme:
- TPM: Qui Gonn ignores the Council's advice and decides to train Anakin
- AOTC: Padmé disregards Anakin's orders to stay in Naboo and goes off to rescue Obi-Wan

And just for fun, what happens when you actually do follow orders blindly?
- ROTS: Anakin murders Dooku

So there is a theme in SW about not conforming, about searching for your own path and living according to your own principles.
Obeying blindly is the way of the Dark Side, of the Sith. And that is what Holdo and Leia ask of Poe.

ANH - Luke disobeys rebel orders, but follows advice from his mentor

ESB - Luke disobeys Yoda and Ben, loses his hand and nearly his life, becomes a liability during Leia and Lando's escape

ROTJ - not really sure that one fits

TPM - we all know how well training Anakin went

TPM example being followed would negate AOTC and ROTS examples.

Obeying blindly not a good thing, but sometimes you have to put your trust in your allies.

20.....
Thank god I made that poll, probably the best thing I did :lol

:rotfl :rotfl

The shoddy MS paint red underline really makes it official.

Also thanks for showing where the poll is at now, I forgot about that

That 42% is pretty close to RT and Metacritics 47% and 46% user scores

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Which one is closer to the rating it should have?

If anything that image only proves the critic score means even less.
