Isn't the point that Lucas pays for all this out of his own pocket?
So he "cheaps" out in the end, 'cause he is not a studio with vast finances and deals at his disposal.

That excuse is a non-starter. Lucas is a multi-billionaire many times over with a merchandising machine in his back pocket that is seemingly without end. He's brought in much more money than he's spent since 1996.

Also, many of his companies (like ILM, LFL Animation, Skywalker Sound, LucasArts, etc.) are self-sufficient entities sustained by their own income. Lucas owns them, but not a penny of their expense capital comes from his personal coffers and hasn't for a long time.

In the scene of Obi-Wan talking to Yoda at the end that was a digital shot as well--I never read anywhere about any other shots being in digital as well though, I think it was just the one scene with Obi-Wan and Yoda. I think that was on the DVD commentary.

They were trying to get the digital cameras done to be used on TPM but they didn't quite make it in time.

No, that was the first shot using a digital Yoda. It was a 35mm film plate but Yoda was all CG.

I'm happy with my unaltered DVDs and was only going to buy the BR edition for (1) the deleted scenes and (2) the commentary tracks. Anyone have an opinion based solely on those factors? Are there any particularly interesting new commentary tracks?

Thanks!

There are more Nooos:

Not just No but actual NOOOs!

ESB: When Vader tells Luke he's daddy, Luke yells N000!

AOTC: Yoda is feeling Anakin's pain because of mom's death, QuiGon is heard saying Anakin's name then yells Nooo! (even the subtitle shows Nooo! :lol)

Just watched Episode 1 (going in order, like most of you).

I hate Episode 1 and 2 (but they sure looked and sounded great!)

Those were already in the movies pre-BR release.

True, I knew that, I guess I should've been more clear.

What i'm getting at is that the Nooo shenanigans didn't start with Vader at the end of ROTS.

Anyways, I finished the box set.

Is everyone sitting down? :lol

First and foremost it was nice to fall in love again with the OT, even with the SE changes.

But I can't believe what i'm about to say.

I haven't seen the PT (nor OT) since 2006.

I guess me being 5 years older has altered my midideloreans :dunno

But I actually enjoyed the PT more now then I did in the theaters and initial dvd release.

Then again by the end of 2005 I was so burnt out of SW that I absolved myself from anything and everything that involved SW hence the 5 years of not watching any of them.

Now don't think for a second that all of a sudden I consider them equal to the OT, I don't.

There's a good reason why Empire (and Raiders) are my 2 favorite movies.

But I will admit that I rolled my eyes a-lot less watching the PT then I previously had done in the past and was expecting to do so again, yes even with AOTC's love story, and that's a very nice surprise and feeling.

Ok, ok, maybe one eye twitched a-lot during AOTC love scenes, acting and C3PO in the arena. :lol

Ok, Lucas, i'm ready for 3 more new SW movies :tap

Just make sure to not direct them :nono

They say it's Qui-Gon, but it certainly sounds nothing like him.
Because Lucas was too cheap to pay Liam Neeson to come in and record those lines. It was all cobbled together and/or edited. Even the "Anakin! Anakin!" was just an audio outtake from TPM.
