WTF is up with this racer who can't even see without leaning to the side?
Teemto Pagalies has a video screen inside his cockpit. In the extended/deleted podrace scenes on the DVD, he sticks his head out of his cockpit to curse Anakin, only to be in the face with a bug. In the film as it stands, we only see him wiping his face with a growl, which makes no sense out of context.

I actually know most of the podracers names, but that's because of the podracing game, which I still remember.
I just watched the full clip galactiboy posted, I love how the Sandpeople can shoot from the hip and hit pod racers going 500 miles per hour but then repeatedly miss the jawas slowly scurring around the crash.

I never cared for them shooting at the pod racers, but shooting at the Jawas was just too funny.

I thought the first scene of them shooting at the podracers was funny... weren't the Jawa's another of the DVD additions? Don't seem to remember them as much in that sequence.

Some of those parts in that clip weren't even on the DVD, was that in the Blu-Ray? Haven't checked out the EP1 stuff yet.
With all the podrace stuff getting cut or added back in, you can easily see how the locations are all mixed up between shots, even for some continuous action part the backgrounds will be wrong when it changes shots. It's really kind of jarring, since they'll be like going through a canyon one moment and then the next shot they'll be going along the flats.
That clip was an extended pod race sequence shown as a special feature on the 2001 TPM DVD. It was never all incorporated back into the movie, despite the completed visual effects, and its not on the blu-ray (in any form) either.

Ah, my bad then... I thought that was the DVD version.
The pod race was extended for the DVD (and now blu-ray) but it didn't have the scenes of Sebulba shooting fire, the clean-up droids dropping into the middle of the race, or the jawas raiding the wreckage.

Yeah, I don't remember those parts from the DVD features, but I remember the other deleted podrace scenes, like the spinning pod and some of the parts where he maneuvers his pod around the others.
Watched all the discarded PT scenes and animatics. I really preferred a lot of the initial concepts over what we ended up with (at least in ROTS though I also liked the expanded Geonosis arena fight). The expanded Order 66 was great and the Spielberg-supervised Obi-Wan/Grievous chase animatic was insanely over the top. It got a little silly when they were throwing debri at each over with their respective rides but otherwise I wish they went all out and completed all those initial shots.
