Interesting, never noticed that... but it sounds like something that would happen with the great editing the PT films recieved :lol

I just hate the added sequence where Anakin's pod spirals wildly out of control (2:16 on the video); it just looks ridiculous and totally unbelievable :huh Not to mention its fairly unnecessary given the other "near misses" that he experiences.

Star Wars - Episode I Extended Podrace - YouTube

I was trying to find a theatrical version on Youtube but was unsuccessful; anyone have a link to the original version of the podrace?

I think the pod race is a tad too long but I like the spinning addition. Goofy yes, but then again so is the podrace itself.

Pod-race for me was a videogame or showcase for Lucas' 1999 CGI. If one of the most pivotal scenes is a pod-race, we know why many loathe this series of films. Also, too much time was spent on Tatooine, in general.

You guys want to see something else I've noticed? I've noticed this since seeing it in the theater but you can REALLY see it in 1080p, it's at the beginning of AOTC. When the Queen's Cadillac (ship) blows up, check out the bottom of the ramp. The stunt man's eyes are wide open as if he's waiting to do the next take. His damn head doesn't even really fully hit the ground/platform. You have to see it for yourself. Also watch at the end of the pod race when Willow aka midget Greedo totally doesn't high five Kitser/Kitster (aka Millhouse). Once you see it, you can't not see it. Whew!

The scene where Jake Lloyd triumphantly declares "Its working! Its working!" seemed to be an homage to E.T. when Elliot states the same thing when trying to activate the Phone Home device.

It would have been cool if they did homages to other Lucasfilm movies like Willow. They could have had Lloyd watching Qui Gon slice up a bunch of battle droids and then shout, "You ah gweat!"

WTF is up with this racer who can't even see without leaning to the side? :lol

Reminds me of my wife driving.

Weren't the E.T.'s in the senate enough? lol ;)

I know you hate all things "pod race" :)lol) but one thing I do like about the extended footage is that at one point another racer (the one that gets killed by the sandpeople) is trying to push Anakin into some rock formations and he makes his pod do a barrel roll up and over to the other side of him to escape.

That's the same move he does in his Jedi starfighter when Obi-Wan says, "Well have you noticed the shields are still up!?" and he blasts the hangar shield generators on Grievous' ship. I thought the symmetry was pretty cool.

I really don't hate all things podrace, but there seems to be to many silly things and when it got extended it made the situation even worse. So personally I enjoyed the podrace the first time I saw it, got a little jaded by how silly it was on future viewings but then seeing it made even longer and sillier was a bit too much :lol

Willow is good. E.T. is great. Jake Lloyd was a nice kid.

:lol :lol :lol

Wait, you guys are expecting logic in the PT movies when there's precious little of it in the OT?

Like a highly organized Imperial Army that cannot find a simple hide-out in a smuggler's ship?
Or a droid that can hide a lightsaber from the scrutiny of the henchmen of the most evil and fearsome gang lord of the outer rim?
Or that Imperial Soldiers topple over when hit by a rock flung by little teddy bears?

So you no likey Return of the Jedi? It's precious enough. Also if you want to get technical the Falcon was a YT-1300 light freighter. Not known for smuggling! :lol EU.

Yeah, actually, ROTJ is my least favorite of all SW movies. I just could never get over how silly the ewoks were, Han's character assassination, or the music number in Jabba's palace...
It is the one movie I watch the least.
But that's beside the point.
SW movies are kid's movies, not meant to be logical or realistic in any way. Otherwise how could it be that the Stormtroopers always fall down, no matter where they're shot? :lol

Nope, sometimes its just fun to point out the lack thereof in both trilogies. We just happen to be on a PT kick. :)

On a side note after also watching Thor on blu recently I couldn't help but notice how good a job Kenneth Brannagh would have probably done directing the prequels. Thor also features a hero with special powers that is first introduced to the audience as a boy and then later shown to be arrogant and selfish before falling from grace after nearly dooming his people to all out war. Brannagh really struck a nice balance and even got a decent performance out of Natalie Portman. :lecture

Oh, I agree on the Han front. Ewoks? Eh, I was 4 and it worked. And the new number in Jabba's palace suxx. Lapti' Nek is a god damn classic. Like Khev said we're on a prequel kick, I am watching them this week. Also that's one thing missing from the Coruscant night club, no music! There should have been music and when Obi-Wan cuts Zam Wessel's arm off it should have stopped! It would have been a nice nod to the cantina.

I would fall down too, regardless of where I was shot (hell, or even if I was shot at :lol), if I was forced to wear armor that impeded my vision and movement and didn't protect me worth a damn against anything. :wave

I would break my ankle in a second while walking around with a helmet on in the Redwood forrest.

Ha ha, kind of like in the Droid "Torture" chamber in Jabba's palace. When that Gonk droid is getting his feet burned you see jets of steam shooting up from his feet in places the branding iron or whatever it is isn't even touching. My eyes go right to that every time. :lol

Same with the end of Temple of Doom when Indy and Willie are about to kiss but the elephant splash comes a split second too late. If you watch Ford he has to stop himself from kissing her and starts to flinch before the water even comes into frame. :lol

I remember noticing the droid torture scene when I was pretty young. Never really bothered me though... or I guess it bothers me less than the idea that Gonk droids also feel pain :huh
