Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Whedon is just better at TV than film is all...

I gotta disagree with you on this one, Nova.

I don't worship the ground that Whedon walks on but I do believe that he could definitely handle a movie like Star Wars.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Looks like JJ could push the release date back to 2016, not definite though. I thought 2015 was a bit optimistic to get all done.

When they announced the 2015 release date, I assumed they had all their ducks in a row and were ready to head into Production. Considering it's not even finished being written yet, 2015 seems a bit like wishul thinking to me.

Just make it 2017 and they can do a giant 40th anniversary promotion with the movie. man, will I feel old by then.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

What's nice is that at this point these are just any other summer event movie to be cautiously optimistic over. I don't have any more "missed opportunity" tears to shed for this series. If they're great, awesome, it'll be a thrill to experience new SW films with my kids this time around.

If not they should at least serve as an alternative to the PT when I want SW but need to take a break from the OT.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I have a sneaking suspicion that these will blow the PT out of the Motherf'n water.

(but again i remain cautiously optimistic )

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

You know it's funny because the internet has exploded in lens flare jokes on account of Abrams coming aboard but the PT had them too. Just watch the Darth Maul duel. They were all over the place once the three started fighting on those catwalks leading to the reactor room.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

It's because the Internet utterly lacks any depth a lot of the time.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I do admit that some of photoshops that have popped up are kind of funny but for anyone who is *really* concerned about lens flares being in Episode VII that's quite ironic considering its maybe the one thing the prequels had that people *didn't* complain about. :lol :duh

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

My problem is, none of them know what an anamorphic lens flare is. And thus, all the pictures suck.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I know the PT gets a lot of hate but if these can just give me personally something fun to watch within that universe I'm golden. I don't hate the PT the way some of the more hardcore SW fans do. As far as the enemy within this trilogy I don't know who you go with if you don't have a Sith. I know the universe has great depth and all but who could fight against any Jedi that are going to be in this and stand a chance?

I wouldn't call someone who hates the PT a hardcore SW fan. I'm a hardcore SW fan and I love the PT. :monkey3

That's the thing. At the end of ROTJ, Luke was the only Jedi. So even though this will obviously take place years later, there doesn't need to be a ton of Jedi running around, either. He can be trying to establish a new Jedi Order (not like the silly EU one) but it'd be beyond dumb for it to be anything other than fledgling since it previously took thousands of years for the order to be established.

New galactic threats and new villains, please.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I know this won't be everyones cup of tea, but i'd like to see the film being led by Princess Leia. Let it be her story that leads events, echoing how the OT had the Droids leading ANH.

The villain............. no better choice than Black Sun or a Hutt Cartel out for revenge. May be like how an unknown Sith was orchestrating the PT, another Sith could do so here but with the advantage of no one knows who it is until the final film.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Darth Mauls daughter for the revenge ! :D

I stand corrected. :lol

Well, I should say I didn't expect a ton of Jedi but I do expect a few especially if its set 30 years after the last film. There will have to be a few I'd expect so you need a bad guy or group that is up to the challenge.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I think we should learn that Anakin had two OTHER twins that secretly have been training as Sith all these years. Then Luke and Leia can fight them, possibly supported by their own children (who can face the children of the other twins.)
