Guinness was just a curmudgeonly old ****er. He was a brilliant actor though. He did Star Wars for the cash, thought it would amount to nothing. He was a major golden screen actor, a huge star in his day. He was big as the biggest actors working today, in his time. He certainly didn't think this cheap little kids space movie was going to define his career and legacy. :lol

That's why he bemoaned the whole thing, he was an old school acting "luvie", took himself completely seriously and a bit of a diva, but any actor of his level was back then. So it's easy to understand his frustration with what happened.

Yes! :exactly: :goodpost:

Guinness wanted folks to remember him for blowing up a bridge...

...not for disabling a tractor beam.

But that's the thing. You can't control how you're remembered.

And The Bridge on the River Kwai was 100% fictional ********, no British officers co-operated with the Japanese to build a solid bridge that would last. In fact the bridge wasn't even blown up by Allied commandos. To many of the vets who were forced to work on the real Burma Railway and river Kwai bridge Guinness mocked their suffering with the typical Hollywood bravado.

Meanwhile back at the ranch...

Simon Pegg seen on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Simon Pegghas never been shy about his love of Star Wars – his breakthrough series Spaced referenced The Phantom Menace and he's voiced a couple of Star Wars animated spin-offs.
Combine the fact that the British actor has worked with The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams on his Star Trek and Mission: Impossible films and it's been anticipated that Pegg may feature in the forthcoming Star Wars film for several months.
Now one of the two helicopter pilots hired by Abrams to help film aerial scenes in Abu Dhabi has revealed that he saw Pegg on set. Andy Nettleton spoke about his experiences witnessing Star Wars 7 from above in aninterview with The National.
Nettleton said: "We sat on the next table to JJ Abrams and Simon Pegg. I was standing at the salad counter getting my lettuce and cucumber, and Simon Pegg was standing next to me. It’s a strange experience – they look like normal human beings then in the movies they’re put under this spotlight."
Of course, Pegg being on set in London is no big secret – the actor revealed as much at Comic-Con last July: "Of course I visited the set. It’s amazing, and I love Star Wars. I want to see everything happening. It looks wonderful, and you need to believe those characters. Any type of stunt casting might just pop you out of the movie."

I'm posting only part of the article...because I'm to lazy to post the rest. :D

They have not got Harrison back and paid him $85 million for episode 7 yes that's right. To just kill him off, I ****ing hope not. Don't give a tuck about these other characters just like everyone else I want all the OT cast in the entire trilogy kicking ass. It's just a shame these films didn't happen 10 years ago when the ot cast where younger. The character I'm most excited for is Han Solo.

he only came back to be killed just like he wanted to be in ROTJ

If they kill him of not even interested in episode 8 and 9. Harrison is in fantastic shape ready ready to do Indy5, talk about a missed opportunity I'd have him in it till Harry dies of old age..****ing Han Solo is Star Wars.

This new film has me extremely nervous- I do not care for alot of the suppposed leaked plot points- some of it sounds good- the Han stuff seems stupid and arbitrary...I do think Luke and leia will have very small roles in it.
I think JJ wants to have both the old fans happy and kickstart the new fans with new young characters. The balance between going old school and new generation kids will be tricky. I'm sure the movie will look wonderful, though.
Will it be as big a moneymaker as most think? Yes- but Disney will oversaturate everyone within four or five years and SW may not be as enduring as they hoped...

I don't mind if he isn't in the next two sequels after Force Awakens, I just hope he doesn't die! I'd be ok if he just rode off into the sunset.

But regardless, I think HF has been hungry for a blockbuster (beyond Crystal Skull) for a very long time now, so I don't think he is as eager to kill Han off as he was during ROTJ.

Kinda feel the same way. I mean we've had nothing but Jedi since 1999. Han was an ordinary guy, a relief from the hokey religions and ancient weapons and I hoped he would remain so for this entire new trilogy.

You guys have read the spoilers right? Some of you are going to be very unhappy, and some of you are going to be thrilled but extremely unhappy.

The only reason why he wanted Solo killed anyway it was because he was kind of just "there." Along for the ride so to speak. If Abrams brings Solo back to his smuggler ways, there will be plenty for him to do and plenty for him to drive the story forward. He may not be so keen on killing him off if that's the case.

Episode 7 already sounds like a phantom menace bore-fest

Han dies and Luke Skywalker's only scene is accepting his lightsaber back....then end Credits!

Then 3 years later,Luke gets some more screen time in episode VIII
