Carrie looks amazing actually. It's her voice that really took a toll. Not sure if they'll edit her voice some how or just embrace it.

That last shot with Han is also awesome to see.

"Practical effects! Practical effects!!! Ew, Carrie sounds bad I hope they fix it with computers."

We can't expect to have it both ways.

Nice video. A lot of those shots are simply gorgeous.

Not to be a cynic, but I have enough psychology and advertising under my belt to know that the whole opening with the piano is used to create a sentimental quality. It had me for a few seconds until I was like, "hey, I know about this, you're not fooling me!". All they had to do was show a Stormtrooper kicking a puppy to really hit home the point they were trying to make. That part with the keys and "hey, see it's practical!" before the Imperial March felt insincere to me. Disney is shrewd and have been dabbling with mind control for years. It's actually not that different than Uncle George's great BTS blogs that he did for Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

Once the Jawa music started playing with the behind the scenes props like Chewbaccas mask, I was in it. Looked great. I think Leia looks decent too. Just have to wait and see. Still going to be cautious and not let the promotion hype hook it's teeth into me.

EDIT:

Despite all the good, the Stormtroopers still look goofy to me though. That one that is taking that guy hostage looked like a cosplayer.

I've always liked Star Wars, so, I suppose I could say I'm a fan, but I've never bought into it like a lot of people, but for some reason, by the time that video was over, I realized that I'd been smiling the whole time. Like DiFabio said, I think seeing Peter Mayhew in costume was what really sealed the deal, in my mind, but it really is amazing. I'm looking forward to it. Even if it's not that great, there'll still be a part of me that's just happy to see all of the original cast on screen again. I remain optimistic, though.

It looked nice and all, but I'm still not as excited as I was for any of the prequel films.
I don't really see the point of practical effects if they are going to look as crap as Darth Fuzzball...

Let's hope Abrams makes an exciting movie out of this.

I actually just got done watching the entire panel on youtube and it along with the behind the scenes preview gave me goosebumps. But, yeah. Some of the choices for those creatures are pretty juvenile. Darth Grimace indeed.

I'm sick and tired of the "practical, real, right there, no green screen, real 200% film" comments.
If the film is good no one will care, if the film is bad no one will care.

And it's tacky to knock the prequels to hype their movie, when they have just as much CG/practical as phantom menace.
