Super Freak
Kong '76 was my first introduction to Kong, hence I loved it (and still do).
So, the perceived bashing is more inference on your part?
With that and Return of Godzilla, the mid-80s weren't a good time to be a fan of giant monsters.Kong '76 was my first introduction to Kong, hence I loved it (and still do).
I remember them selling the robotic Kong -- like the robotic shark, Bruce -- as being the star of the show and how incredible it could move, and in the commercials they would show that shot of Kong breaking through the island gate... and as a child I believed them and marvelled at the apparently 50 foot robot that could walk and yell and move its arms and look so real!
Then I saw the movie and could immediately tell this was no robot -- standard blue screen junk with an actor in the suit -- then there was the one shot of the mecha-Kong standing about as stiff as a child's slide and dropping (awkwardly) a piece of twisted metal into a crowd. THAT was the amazing robot that DeLauntis bragged about and lied about on TV??? I was so angry, felt so cheated and lied to.
I hate that movie.
Caddyshack.
One of the few comedies that is actually funny. Dangerfield and Knight going at it? Still it a riot today.
"You'll get nothing and like it!"
