Caddyshack.

One of the few comedies that is actually funny. Dangerfield and Knight going at it? Still it a riot today.

"You'll get nothing and like it!"

Well, "Clash of the Titans" and "Q - The Winged Serpent" were pretty awesome and had nice old-school giant monsters.
Also, the best Godzilla sequel was released in 1989.

80s FTW! :rock

I remember the huge hype surrounding Kong '76.
I was living near São Paulo, Brazil, at the time. I remember that I had watched the original 33 King Kong on TV and thought it was the greatest movie ever.
My mom took my brother and me to see '76 Kong at the movie in SP (it was a 2 hour drive) and I remember the huge cinema. Then all I remember is Jessica Lange! :lol

I remember them selling the robotic Kong -- like the robotic shark, Bruce -- as being the star of the show and how incredible it could move, and in the commercials they would show that shot of Kong breaking through the island gate... and as a child I believed them and marvelled at the apparently 50 foot robot that could walk and yell and move its arms and look so real!

Then I saw the movie and could immediately tell this was no robot -- standard blue screen junk with an actor in the suit -- then there was the one shot of the mecha-Kong standing about as stiff as a child's slide and dropping (awkwardly) a piece of twisted metal into a crowd. THAT was the amazing robot that DeLauntis bragged about and lied about on TV??? I was so angry, felt so cheated and lied to.

I hate that movie.

Yeah it was all PR crap about that robot- a stunt. There is no way they thought that could be onscreen more than two seconds.. However Kong 1976 has some redeeming parts- JL in the shower for instance...

I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to to it. Felt I OWED it to them.

Once when I was a kid I went into the garden I looked into this bush and a gnome jumped out and bit me on the nose.

Back on topic please.
