The mansion stuff is just so zany and over the top that I can't help but be entertained. Some of it even gives Wilford Brimley riding away from an exploding barn in Hard Target a run for its money. Like Blue noticing the tanks that are about to explode and then running and leaping through the glass as the room blows out a huge fireball behind him. What is he John McClane the velociraptor, lol. It's utterly ridiculous but there's something endearing about watching a film that so unapologetically commits to it's own bit. They're all, "yep he's a superhero now and we are NOT playing it for laughs" BOOM, lol.

Haha I thought the same. So despite this is being my least favourite Jurassic movie other than the abomination JP3 I guess this has proven that I still care enough that I was marginally triggered by Khev's incorrect gender assumption for Blue. She is a girl dinosaur Khev, heroes can be female too you know.

The I-Rex is male though on account of it being a villain. Allegedly the Big One from JP was male (changed *** due to the pesky frog DNA) as well which explains why it is such an A hole.

I think where TLJ lost a lot of people was its desire to move away from a more fairly tale and fable style story telling approach...the brave princess, the eager farmboy, the roguish pirate, and move toward realistic characters with realistic (as in complicated and not so easily defined) motivations. In real life one does not see a clearly defined through line between every choice and action that someone makes in their teenage years through old age. In real life someone can be a gung ho soldier fighting in a war in their youth and then in old age speak out against the same war that they fought in. We don't really question this in real life but if it were to happen in Star Wars people say its inconsistent. Which is true, because in life people are not always consistent, they grow, change, and evolve...we are missing 35 years of Luke Skywalker's life...who knows what drove his evolution.

I can't speak for everyone else.

Everything you said I could agree with if the films were written better. For me its the issue I have with the stories and the how they handle the new characters.. See the video I posted above about Rey for a perfect example.

I thought Luke has been the best thing about the ST so far and then they kill him. I am not upset so much about the death just the fact that we are now left with some really poorly written characters to tie this all up.

Its so weird not to be excited about a new Star Wars film. :(

I couldn't have put it better myself...

Whatever the controversies are, this feeling of anxiety instead of anticipation is what really disturbs me...

I'm only unexcited because there aren't really any high stakes or cliffhangers to be resolved. Sure, Kylo is still out there but we've seen the new hope already - it could just as easily wrap up with VIII.

I do think, for me at least, TLJ succeeded in giving old-school fans a jumping-off point. And in my case at least, there are no hard feelings. I have zero interest in Resistance, low interest in the other announced trilogies and passing interest in The Mandalorian.

I’m just interested in seeing how they kill off Kylo.

Yeah if Episode IX was just the "Further Adventures of Rey and Kylo" then I'd have pretty low interest but since it's the finale I'm definitely looking forward to witnessing the demise of Kylo and Hux and whatever tricks they have up their sleeve with Luke's ghost.

That Luke/R2 scene was probably the best scene in TLJ. I also couldn't help but like the Luke/Leia scene even though I despise the general circumstances of it.

I thought that this scene was made even more poignant considering that us, the audience, knew that Carrie had passed away, making Luke's goodbye to his sister even more heartbreaking.

Best scene is giving TLJ too much credit,it implies there were other good scenes. That was the only good scene in the entire movie. It couldn't have been rian's idea, it actually payed homage to what came before it, instead of mocking it lol

I'm usually willing to suspend disbelief, but one aspect of TLJ is bugging me (and it's not Carrie Poppins or zero-G bombs!)

How is it possible to exit a cruiser in hyperspace, undertake a side mission of several hours (or days), then catch up to the cruiser again? Are smaller ships that much faster than bigger ones?
