I thought Luke had a more bad *** showdown than Logan.

Jesus . . .

It boggles my mind that there are people out there that actually loved a Just For Men dye wearing, Chuck Norris/Billy Mays looking Jake Skywalker doing those anime tier dodges, while in reality, he wasn't even there. Instead, he was crying and having a heart attack on a ****ing rock. Boggles the mind that people would consider this good or even epic.

It's got to be an IQ thing, that's the only explanation. I just dropped a good friend because he decided to go on a rant about how great TLJ and how I'm missing out by not liking it. All I did was wish him a happy holiday and ask how he was doing and he decided to go full shill about what a masterpiece it is and how I'm "missing it". Mind you, this guy hated TLJ opening day. He saw it 6 more times to convince himself and took to Twitter and snapchat to express his undying love for it. I thought he was ****ing with me until he just kept going on and on about it. It's just bizarre. It's funny, I didn't mind all the 2016 election BS where both sides were at each other's throats 24/7 when it came to their political ideologies. I kept to myself and didn't lose any family or friends. But this movie, holy hell, it feels like I'm about to be surrounded and swarmed by mouthbreathing cretins! :lol

The people that I find most hilarious are those that hate the prequels with a passion and can't find any good in them, and yet, they somehow love TLJ. It's just completely absurd to me. Luke and Leia acting like literal superheroes are cool, but Palpatine and Yoda spinning around like idiots is a travesty! Last Jedi is filled with so many kidified, cringey moments (most of which are done with bad jokes and awful looking CGI characters) that it reminded me of everything I hated about the Special Editions and Prequels. I just don't get it.

I don't even think I can be considered a "Star Wars fan" anymore. Out of like 9 movies, I only really love 2 to 3 of them. The fans irritate me, their theories between every release irritate me, the cosplayer s annoy me, the crappy merchandise irritates me, all these articles and YouTube videos about it irritate me. I just don't get it. I'll always have my love for it from the classic things that resonated with me when I was a kid, but a part of me wishes this whole "Star Wars phenomenon" died by the end of the 80s. It's an awful franchise.

But the people like me who don't care and will see the movie again, and buy it:cool:. Because, hey, it's Star Wars.

And that's the problem.

What a silly and naive story it would have been if it presented Luke (or any hero) as being impervious to mistakes or moments of weakness. .

Posting this quote again as I would like to thank Khev on pointing out how silly and naïve these ST are with it's "impervious to mistakes or moments of weakness" hero Rey.

I know you were focusing on Luke but you hit on one of the main issues of this trilogy.. She makes a very boring and bland hero and thus the stories around her become bland and boring..

There is a reason that Luke's best moments on that island were with R2 and Yoda. Too bad the rest of it had so much Rey :(

Now poor Khev has found out that Luke really was nothing more then a moment to buy time (something Finn could have done if not for the illogical Rose)

Poor Khev...

DO you feel it Khev? A Rude Awakening... ;) :lol

Hey if making up your own story to supplant this one is what helps you enjoy TLJ.. THen more power to you ;)

You joke but you know I'm right. Vader only needed to see Ozzel to kill him. Luke's projection allows him to see anyone in the galaxy. Do the math...

:D

The Director claims that Luke never touches Leia.. I have no clue about that one. It seems like they did but if I am going to say that the director did not have a political agenda because he says so then I have to agree with him here also.

But yeah.. Kylo and Luke have no contact at all.

Again it was just a lead up to nothing.

It's also coherent with the fact that he didn't leave any red marks on the ground, contrary to Kylo. They did this so that the audience could guess it was a projection (same with the fact that he is using Anakin's lightsaber probably).

:lol

Well I'll have to make note on a second viewing but if he was just an audio/visual projection who couldn't physically interact then that does make his abilities more ambiguous. Still more powerful than any Force user we've seen on film. You know that if Palpatine or Vader could just appear anywhere they would have. And since Vader apparently only needed visual reference to Force choke Admiral Ozzel without needing to physically be in the same room then it stands to reason that a more powerful Luke could do the same through astral projection so my point still stands and his arc is intact. ;)

Right. Luke was incredibly powerful. Doesn't that make the way it all happened all the more frustrating?
Or am I the only one with an inner 12-year old? I am fine with him dying but I feel like they completely wasted the lore and visual potential.

He could have had such an incredible scene, for example trying to rescue Rey on Snoke's ship, fighting off the guards, Kylo and Snoke, fighting side by side with her, cementing her as his new apprentice, even if for just a couple minutes... Actually using his freaking green lightsaber, and using his Force powers for actual physical damage. Instead we got a projection.

I always suspected part of the box office came from people who tried to force themselves into liking it, but damn... 6 more times :lol

:lol Epic Rant...

I could never let a friend go do to his enjoyment of a film... But it sounds like your guy might have other issues. :lol

Yes I'm deliberately keeping my praise fixated on Luke's development (which was great.)

On one hand Rey's Mary Sue status was diminished (Snoke hitting her in the head, Kylo saving her, Chewie flying the Falcon and not her) but if it's true that her parents sold her into *slavery* then she's spectacularly unaffected by such an upbringing. I don't see how her being Unkar Plutt's property really syncs up with TFA but maybe we're supposed to believe she earned her freedom or something, i don't know, lol. You guys can complain about Rey so I'll leave that one to you. ;)

There's no way to know how much Luke or anyone can do in astral form, because he did very little, and the strain of projecting himself killed him, so it's logical to assume that he might not be able to hurt anyone in that state, since he seemed to be barely holding on.

I get what you are trying to say.. But you just had to do some flips to justify all of this.. Far as I could tell Luke was nothing more then a Hologram.. Nothing more nothing less... If anything you theory about being all powerful and just showing up to kill anyone he wishes is now more true then ever since we now know that Force Ghost can bring the lighting...

You know Khev... This film is just all over the place and the writer really had no idea what he was doing in the larger scheme of things..

Not for a second was he ever thinking back to when Vader choked Ozzel... He was again just writing a Gotcha moment..

Hey man I'd never deny anyone's inner 12 year old being overjoyed by what they see on screen and I get how many were hoping for a more overt, "badass," and traditionally crowd pleasing display of Luke's powers (and I'm not using any of those terms in a derogatory manner) but luckily for myself I just found the way that it played out to be more artistic, poignant, and ultimately satisfying than if he had straight up kicked everyone's ***. :duff

Waiting for Khev to have his Snikt theory moment...waiting for quote "JJ and I will prove you guys wrong!".....I m a g I n a t I o n

Luke doesn't have the best force feat in the franchise so far. Yoda does, when he used lightning as a ghost to burn that tree. Yoda was not in another planet, he's in a completely different realm Dr' Strange style, and he interacted with Luke and burned a physical object.

Well we'll just have to disagree on that then. I think it's too bad if you think it was nothing but a cheap surprise like Stark's remote suit in IM3 but I think that part of the reason that Johnson killed Luke was because he knew that such insane abilities would pretty much destroy any further military challenges that the Resistance faced.

Lol, true enough. But who knows what rules those pesky ghosts have to follow. Luke still tops all living characters. :)

Lots of cheap surprises in TLJ. .tons...hope Johnson doesn't read your posts...he might like them and take credit for your imagination

Yoda really is into lightning. First he absorbed Dooku's, then reflected Sidious's, then the tree thing :lol
