From a marketing perspective, this piece desperately needs a cool exclusive to keep people buying direct from Sideshow instead of heading to retailers to try to get a lower price.

exactly.....I happily buy it if it had a cool exclusive & a low es on the exclusive to start the line off with a buzz

otherwise I'll wait for the market prices to bottom out then buy it

People want more base with LOTR and now maybe less with the SW. Kind of funny.

I wouldnt generalize, that was just my opinion. I still havent given the crack of doom dio a thorough look over to make a judgment on that yet.

I was just making a funny comment on the two new dio's. Macking a crack about the whole thing. Didn't come across well.

come on.....more base yes, but $200 for more base?

There's a lot going on in this piece. People want highly detailed yet cheap. Doesn't work that way.

Prediction: If the edition size is truly 2000 and there is no exclusive version, you will be able to get this for under $200 off of the secondary market at some point.

Just like the MR ROTS sabers that originally retailed for $350 that can all be had for $175-225 now.

Value does not exist in a vacuum. $280 for this piece with an ES of 2000 is simply too much.

I didn't say cheap..circa $200 I'd be happy

I didn't know you were that rich to call $200 cheap

With the larger base, this is pretty comparable to the Captain America VS. Red Skull piece--which is the same height, costs $20 more, but had an edition size of 600 pieces (plus 450 exclusives) instead of 2000.

I think in a saturated market as right now, the edition size is definitely high. Too high...im not sure, but definitely a bit high.

If there was a dry spell of things to buy, i think the edition size would be fine. So many people are just being forced to pick and choose now more than ever. Myself included.

Good points, guys. The higher the ES, the lower the price point has to be.

This is still not in the realm of the latter SS/W pieces -- far from it. And it's also below the price point of quite a few Marvel VS. dioramas that turned into grails.

Plus, and most importantly, everything about this piece is perfect, including the Anakin likeness (thanks to the Sandtrooper guys!), so I see no reason not to get it.

I'd rather pay more and get something truly substantial and satisfying than pay less and end up with the environment-challenged Crack diorama. And besides, this still costs less than two Medicom action figures!

I disagree. you could get 3 awesome medi figures in X3 wolvie, Sparrow, or the SM3 spideys for $90 each. But apples and oranges because statue diehards will never understand figure collectors and vice versa. So the value of one may not represent the other.

Yeah, well you know when I say something it tends to not get defused. :lol

I'm not rich and $200 ain't cheap but I think the price that was expected was maybe a tad under what should have been expected.

I said $200 maybe as low as $150 if it went towards the cheaper side of these things. $280 is more towards what Loki said at $250 which I agreed I could see that. Guess what? :lol

ah thanks for the pic of anakin's face! happy to see it. wish I could have given a better look with more anger....ran really short on time.(and WAYYYYY over deadline) paint looks terrific though. love seeing these painted up.

9-10 inches tall? it looks like somehow obi-wan is positioned wrong on the base and leaning WAY back...the way I had it, the piece was closer to 15.5" tall...without the round black base below the lava....maybe things needed to be repositioned....or I'm just remembering wrong...

obi was 8 3/4 tall (approx) hard to measure these puppies

a 6ft guy would be 8" in 1/9 scale so I think your right and the article is wrong trev

awesome work dude, just too pricey for me

No problem Trev. Glad my guys at ST could get a good shot of his face out. Amazing job man!!

The piece seems quite a bit taller than the Faramir 12" figure, so at least oranges served to measure apples here.

I'm VERY happy with Anakin's face sculpt. In fact, I'm kinda happy you didn't go with an angrier look, Trev!

Ouch, for some reason I wasn't anticipating a price that high for this piece. Its still awesome, but I don't know that I'd be able to sacrifice an entire PF purchase for it. When you compare this to the equally priced Exclusive Captain America PF the dio seems like a lot. Might have to pass and save my pennies for Mustafar Obi and Ani in 1/4 scale.
