The more I think of it, the more I make my peace with this price point.

First -- this will set the parameters for the entire line. In a way, a smarter move than the Crack of Doom diorama. These are big, complex statues, and they will appeal to the higher end of the collector's market; definitely not action figures, definitely not for kids. It's us older guys with a chunk of disposable income that this is targeting; just like the PFs and the 1:1 scale busts. Sideshow's SW action figure line will still be huge and wonderful, but this is something for us who are willing to pay extra for excellence in pure, unadulterated polystone. (And this will be excellent!)

Second -- this is the same price range as the Marvel pieces, after all. And while there's going to be a larger ES here than with the, say, Captain America vs. Red Skull -- well, surely Anakin and Obi-Wan are slightly more popular!

I know lots of SW collectors got into this via Hasbro (even I did), but, again, this is the kind of a product that's been a long time coming. I've already stopped even thinking about getting action figures some time ago, so this kind of an announcement is exactly what I've been waiting for ever since. And it seems conceived in bolder, braver terms than the corresponding LOTR line -- as is only proper, since SW lends itself to these types of dioramas a bit more readily.

This line and the PFs are now on top of my collecting priority.

ditto (except marvel vs & sw dios are my piority)

I just had initial shock over the price & was hoping it'd fall in the my price range without having to sell stuff

I will get it but if there's an exclusive or not will determine how soon I get it

I have no problem with the price of this piece, as Josh said, I was pretty close guessing it'd be about $250. It's just the fact that there will be 3 versions of these guys at some point. The PF's may be a little further away than I was hoping now, but they WILL be made.

I did it I did it... Loki now wants PF Obi and Anakin!:D :lol

Let's get serious again.. I agree with Seretur as PF and dioramas are my priority too now. And then 1:1 busts, Gentle Giant dioramas, GG busts, GG animated maquettes, GG statues and finally 12" figures. this is my collection in a scale of collecting importance.

Ouch! You seem to be getting it all, honestly! :)

I'll just stick to the PFs and the GG and SS dioramas. (They'll match, too. Especially if Sideshow's stuff does end up varying in scale. Gentle Giant did give us a wonderful Han vs. Greedo already, after all!)

Even just sticking to these, I already have the PF Luke & Yoda, Boba Fett and Maul on my plate... plus the SS Anakin vs. Obi-wan, and GG Jabba's palace combo. Quite enough for one year, and it's still February!

dunno if I'd get GG & SS dios....the gg dios will look poor next to their superior cousins :D

Well, with the price I figure for most being in this range this line will be just a pick and choose for me. This on top of the 1:6 for both LOTR and SW, SS LOTR Dio's, plus the few GG pieces I'm picking up will limit this line and end me doing much of anything with the LSB line.

do you live in a warehouse? :D

Haven't you seen pics of Josh's room?

Actually, it looked like a warehouse two years ago... today, I have no idea how he even lives there.

And that's a good point about GG, even though I like some of their 1/7 scale stuff. The Sandtrooper on Dewback was $240 when it came out, at ES 1500. Both slightly smaller than this dio, granted -- but it was just background characters. And now it goes regularly for twice the asking price!

Still the same place. :lol We're going to get rid of a bunch of stuff in our basement so I can move some of the boxes there and use that wall for some shelving to display stuff.

Yes, I quit and sold the Attakus Star Wars collection to get funds to continue the whole lineup collection of Sideshow and Gentle Giant... I do hope those funds will not finish soon but with all the stuff coming out I think I'll be broke soon.:monkey2
As for now I have the complete Sideshow and Gentle Giant Star Wars collections which are proudly displayed in my room... useless to say that my room is kinda full of Star Wars collectibles... other than Star Wars I collect LOTR Premium Format Figures... I hoped in an announcement at Toyfare but no way... anyways SideshowDusty said they are working on a couple at this time so I think we'll get an announcement sooner or later.

When do you guys think the diorama will go up for preorder? wednesday? as there's a Star Wars preorder and the Royal Guard VCD is part of the medicoms preorder I think...

I would expect Wednesday.

I would also expect Flexpay... and I ardently HOPE for an exclusive of some sort.

If they do flex pay. This just might be the first item I do that for depending on the exclusive. If there is one that is.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but Corner Store Comics has the Anakin vs Obi-Wan set up for sale on their site. The Sideshow price is $280!

Dusty said it was in the same scale as the Captain vs. Red Skull, for example. So yes, it's the same scale and price range.

CornerStore has it for $237.99... So $42 off is what we can expect online, eh? The rewards points would come out to just $14 off if buying direct from Sideshow. This is why I hope for an exclusive... say, a smaller Lava Droid that Anakin jumped from.

THAT would be worth it, even if the price jumped to $300!
